Great, cheap food with a good service. They’re mochas are a little sweet, but if you ask them to limit the syrup they will. The real star of the show here is the milkshakes! I got a strawberry milk shake and it actually has pieces of real fresh strawberries, the same with the peach milkshake. Tip: You can mix flavors in the milkshake for no extra charge, so mix them up and find your favorite. Mine is strawberry & peach with just a touch of chocolate.

I stopped into this Cookout when I was in town for the Tech-UNC game in late November. My friend and I were looking around for a place to grab a quick bite before heading over to a friend’s house. I suggested cookout and off we went. We found parking easily enough and headed inside. There wasn’t much of a line and when we got to the front our orders were taken quickly. We got our sodas which were extremely fresh and waited for our food to be ready. Not two minutes later both of our orders came out at the same time. The food was well prepared(not just thrown together quickly) and tasted great. Everything seemed like it was made to order — which is a lot more than can be said for a lot of fast food restaurants. I would definitely recommend visiting this Cookout when heading through Blacksburg.

Hamburger or spicy chicken? My cook out dilemma! But always say yes to their shakes and Cajun fries! I’ve only tried 3 flavors for their shakes and so far my fav is banana triple berry. If you wanna play a prank on friend, tell them pineapple is bomb diggity. And my tray of the night! I ended up choosing spicy chicken. So good and so cheap! For any freshman of their sides, quesadilla and bacon(LT) wrap are warm and comfy. Chili. ehhh.

SUPERDELICIOUSMILKSHAKES. Whenever my husband and I are in town visiting family we always come here(through the drive-thru). I love the Mint Chocolate Chip shake and I am pretty sure my husband would order just about anything on the menu as he loves most flavors. He ended up ordering the Strawberry Shortcake shake, and it turned out that we swapped our shakes because of course we liked each others’ better. That’s love. Anyway, the drive through is super speedy! It is perfect for if you have kiddos in the car and don’t want to take them inside, or maybe if you are in a rush on a particular day then this would make life a whole lot easier. A true gem of Blacksburg… cannot wait to come back!

First stopped in because my nephew wanted to go there, but I’ve been back. The pork barbecue sandwich is good, and reasonably-sized, and by default comes with Texas Pete. First time in there were two people up front, both cheerful and very friendly in answering questions. Second time, service similarly good.

I love it! If you wanna eat good olé fill-you-up but terrible-for-you food then this is THE place. I usually get a tray with a burger, two chicken wraps and a milkshake. I think Ive tried basically all of the milkshakes and my favorite has got to be Oreo-mint. You can also customize all of your items, so I could get a BBQ burger or ranch/cajun chicken wraps, things like that so don’t be scared to explore the menu. (Don’t get the chicken nuggets, seriously no one does that)

I have tried Cookout several times, and though the price is cheap, it’s not worth it. It’s a little less than mediocre. I got the bbq once and truthfully, it smelled like tuna and tasted like sweaty feet. Our cat wouldn’t even eat it.

The first Cook-Out I ever went to several years ago. I like that this place stays open late when everything else on this side of town has been closed for hours and it couldn’t be any cheaper. This is a college student’s dream where dirt cheap food reigns and tastes much better than your traditional fast food chain. Yes we’re calling you out McDonalds! After coming here, I couldn’t imagine anyone ever going to McDonalds again. The food is cheaper, has been flavor and is better quality. There’s no better value in town.

One of my friends recently ruined my image of Cook-Out by telling me it’s part of a chain. I was honestly very surprised as the Cook-Out here has a very non-chain feel to it, which is a point in their favor! The best thing about Cook-Out is their low price. The quality of the food is about what you’d expect from your non-McDonald’s fast-food joint. It’s no Five Guys but they make a good burger and tasty fries. Their milkshakes are rather amazing and yes, you want to add one to your meal. Try something crazy; be brave!

I was a huge fan of the Cookout chain in North Carolina. Every time, I visited my friends at Wake Forest I would make it a point to go. This morning, my fiancé and I were really feeling milkshakes for lunch so we decided to go to the new Cookout in Blacksburg and split a tray. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t as good as I remember it being in North Carolina. You get a ton of food for under $ 5 but that’s about it. We got 2 hotdogs, hushpuppies, chili, and two shakes.(Yep… this is a STANDARD order — no wonder why America is obese). The hotdogs were disgusting. They had been boiled and then thrown on the flat top for 2 seconds so it was just a greasy mess. I asked for them plain, but mine came drenched in mustard making it completely inedible. The side of chili? Completely tasteless. The saving grace of the meal were the hushpuppies. The milkshakes were just ok. They were so thick we couldn’t even drink them. Even more annoying is their order pick-up. They give you things in stages. You don’t get your whole meal at once. First we were given our food and then we had to get up two separate times to get our milkshakes. It was just very chaotic with them calling a million numbers every 2 seconds. They should just give you everything at one time even if you have to wait just a little longer. That said, I woudln’t recommend this fast food joint to anyone. It’s just not very good. I probably wouldn’t go back either.

I guess I’ll be the first to review Cook-Out: the Blacksburg edition. Since this place opened up fairly recently, the masses just keep piling in to this small fast food joint, lining up the full length of the building. The employees are still getting used to things, as I deduced from the girl that had a little trouble taking my order. Nevertheless, the food prep was lightning fast. I literally took a seat and then my number was called. I ordered a «Cook-Out Tray» which I customized to consist of a pulled-pork barbecue sandwich, cajun fries, a corndog, and a Snickers milkshake. All for a total of around $ 5.69, which was a tad of an up charge compared to the menu photos that are often passed around on the internet. The food was just okay, in relation to typical fast food; the cajun fries and shake were probably the main highlights of my meal. That being said, there is no denying the value of Cook-Out, its large menu, and its infamous«tray» offering. Welcome to Blacksburg! Note: AMEX is not an accepted form of payment.
