Loooove kintaro. Probably my favorite restaurant I Blaine, along with the tavern. Our favorite is going there for the hibachi for a nice night out but they also serve a full menu that includes a variety of Asian dishes and an extensive sushi menu(not my style so I won’t say anything in that). Service is great and the food is awesome, very comparable to Benihana. We’ve had takeout a few times and have been happy as well. Order was packed really well, nothing forgotten and food was delicious.

Great sushi and even more amazing service. I asked the waitress to pick rolls for me and she did a great job, although I wish they wouldn’t have both been tempura rolls. Sunday and Monday sushi menu prices are really awesome. I will definitely go back.

My first ordering from here but I only did take out since kids were being naughty didn’t want to take them out. Ordered the Kintaro roll but I didn’t eat it but hubby said it was good. Had teriyaki steak and the beef negimaki I thought they both tasted good, a little too much sauce for my liking but it was still good. Chicken fried rice was also good. I would definitely order from here again.

Kintaro has a very calming atmosphere. My sister in law and I decided to try this place out and we happened to dine in during happy hour. Their foods are priced well. The customer service was great but the food I felt was mediocre. I ordered the Thai chicken curry, which I felt was a little on the bland side. The sushi was alright. Definitely not a place I would commute too to dine in but would return if I was in town.

I love love love Kintaro. They have amazing sake(especially the nigori unfiltered a must have!) Very nice happy hour specials and great hibachi! I come here very often with my friend. The décor is nice and fair, but it’s the great sushi, tempura and sake that keep me coming back!

My first time here and I loved it! The waitress was very kind and sweet. She seemed new and nervous but I could see she really cared for us as her customers. I ordered the sushi appetizer which came with your standard salmon, fluke, white bass, lean tuna and fatty tuna. The meat was rather tasteless and was room temperature, a big no no for me. It didn’t taste very fresh. I also had a standard California roll which I got for free thanks to Unilocal as well as a pink specialty roll(forget the name) and some salmon and tuna rolls. All the rolls were great. I like the happy hour and lunch hour specials they have. The atmosphere is bright, open with some jpop and kpop playing(which I love). They also have a nice outdoor area with firepits and a traditional Japanese eating area which can be reserved. I wanna come back with a group of friends and try that paper wall eating area!

I received a free California roll for checking in on Unilocal, they won me over just like that. Yep, I’m easy. Just give me free stuff. I had a working lunch and a hankering for Japanese udon or soba noodles. Since I was in the area I decided to check this place out. Glad I did. Their menu has similar options as your typical Japanese sushi franchises. Mostly sushi options. I didn’t see any noodle dishes I wanted, looked more like Chinese style noodles with stir-fry stuff, but they had some great lunch deals. I went with a sashimi lunch special that came with miso soup, rice, and of course I redeemed my free roll. I’ve had sashimi straight out of the ocean in Tokyo, so I’m ruined forever. However, everything here tasted great for MN standards. I had a light, yet fulfilling lunch. The service was outstanding. Our server was so friendly and efficient, plus he laughed hard at my fabulous jokes. We encountered the manager upon arrival as well, she greeted us warmly and showed us to our table. The service definitely put this place a notch above average. I’ll be returning.

Really love their sushi rolls, especially the Volcano Roll and Sweetheart Roll. Quality fresh fish. Their Crab Rangoon is to die for, and we’ve always had great service. They even brought a balloon sword to our toddler the times we brought him with us here. We haven’t eaten at the hibachi grill yet, but love the restaurant portion.

Food was great(two of us shared to sushi rolls and two had the table top service). The servers were tentative and pleasant, the cook was fun and entertaining, and the bar staff talkative. The food price was average but the bar tab seemed a bit high. Overall, I would recommend for a fun night out with friends or your kids and family!

Good lunch deals, sushi is wonderful, staff is attentive. Sushi tastes fresh and always beautifully presented. Love how the manager makes his way to check on us. That personal touch wins my vote.

Absolutely Amazing Food. It is close to my workplace so I come here often for lunch. They have great lunch specials but I love it so much I come here for dinner too. Place is tip top clean. Staff is friendly and service is quick. Vegetable fried rice is awesome and tasty. Yum yum sauce is so yummy it got its name from being yummy I guess. Have tried all regular rolls and are amazing. Special rolls that I love are Magic, King Dragon, Volcano and Godzilla. Will try more food in future.

You can’t beat sushi at Happy Hour! And most of the day on Sunday! The staff is what gives this a 5 star. .. the sushi was good and during happy hours super cheap(basic rolls are $ 2 – 4 and specialties $ 8+), loved the seaweed salad, and free dessert with a Unilocal check in! The young girl helping us was so friendly and was smart enough to not only ask us back, but to tell us she will be watching for us next time. Made us feel like we definitely HAVE to go back.

I absolutely love this place. Everyone that works here is super friendly. They have a nice patio and the place looks very clean. The food is good and they have quite a variety to choose from. They have hibachi, sushi, and asian fusion. The sushi is really nice cause they use less rice and their rice actually has flavor. The part where my sushi doesn’t fall apart is also a plus. Right now, they also have a lot of summer promotions going on that are going on, that’s another bonus to my wallet. I highly recommend this place if you haven’t been here before!

Had a friend cancel our sushi outing for a restaurant down in Hopkins last night but I still needed to get my fix. Once you want sushi, the desire doesn’t go away. Called up another pal only to find they didn’t like sushi. Dangit. Looked around for a place that had more than just the typical Hibachi/sushi menu and found this place! Read over the reviews and figured it was worth checking out, especially since it was pretty close to home. She and I walked in, classy, dark, clean atmosphere. Bar is straight ahead, hibachi to the right, dining booths to the left. Our waitress was very young, and a bit overbearing-came to check if we were ready to order, came back literally 10 seconds later to see if we were ready again. We had been sitting down all of 3 minutes. Anyhow. I wasn’t too put off by that as I was just ready to stuff my face with marvelous sushi. Feeling like little kids we ordered Blue Hawaiis. I started off with the California and the Philly. Two I’m familiar with and could rattle off the top of my head without having time to look over the menu. Rolls were considerably cheaply priced, which my wallet is always a fan of. She ordered orange chicken which was a pretty large serving and seemed to be happy with her dish. I finished off with a spider roll, and was pleased with each of mine. The rice was warm, while everything else was still cold. To me, that’s always a great sign. We ordered another round of drinks and dessert-I had the Mango Mochi Ice Cream and she had the Cheese Cake Tempura. Both were very tasty, unique, and fun. I was really pleased with the careful, and tasteful presentation of everything there. Kudos to them. After chatting for a bit the manager, Paul, stopped by to check on us and take any feedback on what we thought of everything. His attitude was so kind and appreciative of everything, and he wound up buying us another round. To have such a great experience at a sushi place close to home ranks high in my book. I’ll be spreading the word!

Allow me to open up with a Unilocal cliché: I was hesitant to write a review about this place because I don’t want it to get too busy(don’t get in the way of me and my sushi). But I will be selfless and let you all in on a secret — my new favorite restaurant is in Blaine. Blaine! Kintaro opened up about 3 weeks ago. My boyfriend and I went in to check it out a week or two ago after noticing its new-ness on 65. Our waiter was a cool dude who answered all of our questions and was funny and had tattoos that weren’t shitty. The place is large, clean, modern, with hibachi, bar, dining, and private dining areas. We ordered 3 maki rolls, 1 nigiri set, and seafood udon noodles(the bill was under $ 50!). I recommend… all the things. The udon actually stood out to me because the textures and flavors were perfect. I’ve been eating a lot of overcooked udon lately, sadly, but theirs was chewy and had generous seafood portions. Our favorite was the sweetheart roll. And the presentation was gorgeous. All of my senses were exploding my head and it was great. We rolled back in as a party of 8 last night. We really love our friends and we couldn’t hold out on them any longer. We got that same badass server and I believe it was the manager(or just some super pumped employee) that also checked on us and even offered us free shots(I declined because I work the next morn, otherwise I would be asking for J. Beam and a funnel). Ok so listen to this, the 4 of us that shared food/check got: miso soup, salad, 25 pieces of sashimi(not just pieces, but like, BRICKS. HUGE.), 16 nigiri, 5 maki rolls, 2 beers, and 1 mojito… ANDITCOST $ 26PERPERSON. And it was all superb and we were overly full. Are you reading this? Tell the world! I mean, don’t tell anyone, don’t come here.

Okay folks… here’s the deal… this place is amazing, I mean… seriously amazing. This gem is located in Blaine, right across the parking lot from SuperTarget. It’s fairly new, only been open a couple months, but the food and killer. What used to be a bar and grill(from what I remember), has been renovated into a hibachi, sushi and bar. When you walk in, the bar is to your left and hibachi area on the right. The staff is friendly and service is amazing. We had a larger group(7 peeps total) and took up nearly an entire section at one of the hibachi stations. We were HUNGRY and proceeded to order sushi, appetizers and placed our hibachi orders. We ordered… * Kintaro Roll * Ultimate Spider Roll * Caterpillar Roll * Sashimi Tower * Tempura Platter(all veggie) * Filet, Steak, Chicken, Lobster, Scallop and Shrimp Hibachi We learned that the head hibachi chef worked at Ichiban for 30 years and is now at Kintaro — that also includes his recipes, techniques and show style. Starting with the sushi. Amazing presentation, quality ingredients and we learned the proper ways of eating sashimi(meaning things like how much soy and when/how to eat the lemon). The hibachi fare was also excellent, very fresh and cooked to perfection based on diner preference. The steak, chicken and seafood were cooked with precision — the SAUCES are what make this place amazing for the hibachi experience. The yum yum sauce = #money — put that on anything and you’re set. The fried rice… which you should be ordering with dinner, don’t get white rice… the rice has a great chew, fresh and cooked with fresh veggies. I’ve been to various hibachi places in MN, this place is in the top 3 — give it a shot and make the trip to Blaine to try it out!
