This is a buffet that’s breaking all the rules. It’s a bold move only serving fish eyeballs!

I’ve changed my mind. This place is good when you dine in. It’s all you can eat and doesn’t break the bank. I’m a noob when it comes to Filopino food. It resembles Chinese food. Many of the dishes are stewed. I’ve noticed that many of the soups is sour to cut the grease. There’s usually 2 type of soup. I go for the non-sour meaty soup. I’ve only dined here on weekends for lunch so the food turns over more often and the food is warm. Some items like the tiny spring rolls are dried out. Many of the items here are not labeled but I’ve eaten here a few times to know what I like. Give it a shot. A lot of local Filopino people are always dining here whenever I’m here.

I never ate here coz the food was dried up. The waitress is rude and doesn’t help. Never eat here. The food is not even cooked by Filipinos.

This place is a good spot for Filipino food lovers. They have quite a few selections and it’s a buffet so you can eat all you can for less than $ 10. The only thing I did NOT like is when you go there on the afternoon like between 4pm to late, most of their food are all dried up and it really looks like left overs from all the people eating there but others it’s a good place but I really recommend going there at lunchtime.

Very limited selection. The choices they had all looked like earth colored stews with questionable meaty chunks. The only things I tried were the grilled chicken skewers, the rice noodles, and veggies from one of the stews. It was OK, nothing distinctive.

For those who gave this place any less than 3-stars, I guess they really have no idea how Philippine Dining is. This is as close as to being back home as one can get. Okay, some of the hot trays weren’t really that hot… but come on, that’s just nit-picking already. Food is generally good. A few of them may be bland for my taste, but hey, Filipino cooking is more of a regional thing. They might be from not my town back home where we season some of the dishes differently. For someone to say that there is not enough selection, I guess that person is used to the Chinese buffets with over 50 varieties with sub-par quality. For the price that they charge here, you are definitely getting more of your moneys worth. I am not a regular here, me and my wife just happened to not know where to eat on the way home from Morris Planes, saw this Unilocal, and took a 45 minute detour to this place. I tell you, it was not a disappointment. This place is flavorful and worth the time to visit. Wish we came earlier in the day, I’m sure it would have been better. But on the other hand, arriving around 3 pm with no crowd, I welcome the fact that it was not packed so the more food for me. Now my only problem is staying awake on the way home to Somerset which is another 45 min drive. Food coma is both a blessing and a curse. Happy eating everyone!

Wow where to start i suppose the one bright spot to my visit to East West is the fact the price is great under 8 bucks for lunch Walking inside nobody was there to greet us so we weren’t sure if we should seat ourselves or just walk –in to the dining room another customer said you might as well just sit. The waitress i use the term but she didnt act like a waitress a drink ok yes i will have a soda i had to tell her she never asked so i had to speak up and tell her On to the buffet the food looked nice a nice selection bistek caldereta adobe pork the ever wonderful frozen lumpia and more The food looked good def great for the money but oh my it was all cold really? Its 1230 people why did you not heat it up properly i believe you need too keep your steam tables on if did the food should have been warm not room temp like it did not safe to serve food this way Why did i not speak up that is what ive been asking myself through the day and i still cant believe nobody else did either

The selection of the food here is so limited, I decided to give it a try after I saw those good feedback, but I felt disappointed about the quality and quantity of the food, it’s way too normal.

I went about a month ago with a friend the hours claim that they close at 9PM however they close before 7:30PM. In my view if they close at nine that means you should be able to walk in at nine and get served food do not give this place your business

Came here for lunch after church. I have to give it 4 stars because of parking! But on a brighter note, I came here for the sisig, dinguan, and Kare Kare! Not bad at all. This is my mom’s go to spot for her friends that aren’t from the area.

Of yourself want real Filipino food, this isn’t it. Not much to choose from and if the food isn’t always finished, they reuse it the next day, which is gross.

Wanted to try this place for years and finally decided to get take out one afternoon. I walked in and was completely ignored for the first few minutes while the cashier helped other customers. Finally, I had to ask how take out worked(there’s no menu, just a buffet). She mumbled something about the containers and I walked over to grab a styrofoam box and was yelled at for trying to put my own food in the container. The woman basically followed me around asking what I wanted and insisted she had to put the food in the containers herself, which was fine, but she seemed very impatient and did not really explain what the dishes were. I ended up with some lumpiang shanghai, pancit bihon, spicy pork and chicken on a stick. Food was only okay and cold. I’d rather take the drive to Jersey City for better filipino!

This place is not good. I tried everything on offer, and found nothing I liked. The food was cold. Should have known never to come to a buffet.

For around $ 9, you can fill yourself up with a solid selection of classic Filipino dishes at the buffet. The woman that works there — who I believe is Chinese — was nice. Service is close to nonexistent though since my table was only approached once. The selection today was alright: Various fried fishes, Adobo(marinaded meat), Lumpia(Filipino eggrolls), Menudo(pork stew), Kare Kare(oxtail in peanut sauce), Sinigang(tamarind soup), Fried Rice with Garlic, Longanisa(sweet pork sausages), Paksiw(roasted pork in a sweet pork liver sauce), Chicken BBQ, Pork BBQ, Braised Oxtail with Mushrooms and Pechay/Bok Choy, and Dinuguan(«chocolate meat») to name a few. Desserts included ginataan mais(sweet rice porridge with sweet corn), ube halaya(purple yam), and lychee among others. My favorites: The fried rice with garlic, the fried fishes, and the longanisa. The fried rice with garlic was delicious — it was slightly sticky, had egg, rice, green peas, Chinese sausage, carrots, and a few other ingredients. My only complaint was that the garlic was a bit excessive. I have no complaints about the fried fishes. The longanisa were plump, juicy, and tasted great with bagoong(fish paste). The desserts were good, especially the lychee in syrup. As much as I wanted to enjoy the Kare Kare, it tasted too much like Skippy peanut butter. There’s no problem in using Skippy but the sauce was overpowered by too much of it. The menudo was delicious, but the addition of atay(liver) may not be the best for more Westernized taste buds. Their lumpiang gulay here is alright, but the cooks are a little skimpy on the filling. Lastly, the BBQ sticks were charred and turning cold. The taste was slightly sweet, but the marinade tasted a lot like the frozen BBQ sticks you could buy from Asian markets. AYCE Filipino food for around $ 9 for lunch? I don’t know about you but that’s a great deal. The only problem is that you might not like the selection of dishes that is being served on a particular day. Also, the ambiance isn’t exactly great; the décor is a bit run down so it’s not really a place you’d want to take a date to. If you’re not interested in the buffet, you could also order a boxed combo.

Oh my Ulam!!! So delish. Not the best filipino dish but for the price it is good enough to bring back memories. Fav: Karekare, so peanuty, so soft, so fatty so pick the piece that has more meat on it; Dinuguann!!! Tuyooooo!!! Deep that in vinegar and it“s golden. And ginataan!!! Wide food selection — pancit, menudo, tinola, sausage, daing, tuna belly, barbecue pork or chicken?, turon(major major fail btw), lumpia jst to name some. Not For Vegetarian. They sell balut sometimes. Unfortunately, no sisig, no crispy pata Come by during earlier hours like 11. The food is fresh and hot. Come after and it will be cold. You may heat it up in the microwave. But for me, I let my stomach do the heating. Kainan na.

I’m asian. ugh. I like buying 80 lumpia(egg/meat rolls) for $ 15. I like greasy authentic spots that look like they belong in 3rd-world countries. I like cheap spots that don’t pretend to be doper than they really are. This spot is it.

This restaurant used to be a Filipino influenced chinese delivery when I first moved to Bloomfield, and the food was SO dammned interesting because of that influence; I was very disappointed when they closed the Chinese restaurant and opened up this buffet, but thought, hey, if their chinese food and amazing Lumpia, were so good, I really should try it out. So I did… I could not identify anything, but I am an adventurous eater and took samples of whatever looked palatable. Since I was a kid I never left food on my plate– it was something drilled in to me by my Italian grandmother born in the depression; this was an exception. I could not stomach a thing on this plate– I had to go to the owner and apologize as quietly as possible that maybe its just the cultural difference and spices, but I could not do anything but throw away the entire plate. They were very gracious to me, and I paid the bill, they even offered me alternatives, but I couldn’t eat a thing from the selection. They sent me home with a bag of lumpia, and I ordered take out from another restaurant at home that night. Now mind you– I am not from the Philippines, and perhaps if you are, you may love this place having a different palate than I, but this was just not for me. I love Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese, but I guess I will have to try this type of food another day prepared elsewhere by a master chef from the region, but until then, this restaurant has turned me off completely to Filipino food. The people of the Philippines are amazing though– so friendly and warm hearted, beautiful too– but the food??? No thank you.

DELICIOUS Filipino buffet! The dishes change often, but are always authentic and always good. My favorites are the pancit, meat on a stick, bistek(I’m not sure if that’s what it’s called, but it’s the meat with onions). The lumpia shanghai is the absolute best I’ve had — and I’m counting my trip to the Philippines! I can’t even start on the desserts. Leche flan? I can’t. If you love Filipino food, you need to come here. Bring friends, invite me, and take some food home too!

Yes, another amazing meal here… Adobo, Kare-Kare, Lumpia, Pritong Isda, Tinola, Dinuguan, Kaldareta… these are just some of the amazing Philippine dishes one can find at this spot… for a very low price you get to sample a huge array of Filipino dishes. Dishes offered change frequently so every visit can be a different experience. The desserts were still great too: Guinataan, Sweet Ube and the Leche Flan were outstanding.
