I’ve lived in the area for 30 years but I only visited here a couple times a few years ago based on the recommendation of a coworker. Honestly, I wasn’t impressed. There was nothing wrong with the subs but I just could’t understand what the fuss was about. If I can go to another deli in a better part of town with better parking than I am going to do that. For subs I keep going back to Sub City(formerly Blimpies) on Bloomfield Ave. Vinnie’s actually makes an amazing Italian sub with thinly sliced meats and tart oil and red-wine vinegar dressing. Also try Lakeside in Verona. You might like Lenny and John’s so who am I to stop you but I’ve had my fair share of sub sandwiches in the area and I just wasn’t excited about my experience there.

First time eating at this deli and OMG my sub was amazing! Prices are good for the quality of food that I received! Plan on going back and making this my sub headquarters! I had the salami and turkey with cheese(the amount of oil and vinegar matched— no soggy bread) I recommend this ESTABLISHMENT

Stopped in for a chicken parm one morning and bit into a sandwich made built of bread and disrespect. Honestly one of the worst things to touch my tastebuds. Luckily for Lenny & John, my new found faith in Jesus justified my action to turn the other cheek, walk back in there and try out another sandwich. I remember like it was yesterday… BECAUSEITWASYESTERDAY A Number 1 with mustard, no tomatoes, with a fresh dill pickle on the side. Great Grub. Truly fantastic COLDFOOD. Enter Hot and Hungry. Leave Cool and satisfied. 4⁄5

This review does not need to be long… just go! Don’t let the outside appearance fool you, enter the door and smell the amazing sandwiches. I opted for Italian while my buddy got the corned beef club, both sandwiches were huge and amazing. Cash only, and parking can be a pain, but the food made me click the 5th star.

The customer service is amazing, as well as the recommendations if you’re looking to venture off your normal. This place was really convenient to my house when I wasn’t able to get up and go just anywhere. The sandwiches are reasonably priced and you get a lot for what you pay. I originally only used to eat a #1 but have now tried 5 other sandwiches, each one was a good as the one before. This is also the only place I will ever eat tuna fish from… which I highly recommend, it is literally the best tuna I have ever had and cannot replicate. I still wish they would update the inside and extend their hours a bit, but then again, if they did this, they would probably start to increase the prices… and the prices are definitely a major reason for getting 5 stars from me.

One of my favorite sub shops, They close like at 3pm during the week so make sure your not starving on the weekends you will wait a tad…

Friendly service, soft bread and decent prices, although the pricing scheme doesn’t encourage to purchase a whole sub for later. It’s literally just twice the price of a half. The actual subs are not worth the hype — both local and Unilocal alike. There was nothing special whatsoever about the Jumbo sub I got. I was hoping that by ordering what’s essentially an Italian sub with an extra meat, I’d end up with a bite that would be a bit meat heavy. Not the case. Also, I paid extra for hot peppers. Nothing special here. Just some jarred sliced pepperoncinis. Cash only. Also a fan favorite which I still can’t wrap my head around.

I went to check this place out the other day and really enjoyed it. It’s very basic but they do basic really well. Cheese means provolone, that’s it. There are some toppings selections, but if you’re expecting Subway or something TAKE A HIKE! Parking can be tough there. I used Wendy’s which I’m sure I wasn’t supposed to do but whatever, her pigtails seemed just fine. Oh and they have their own sodas. I tried the vanilla cream. A+++++

A GREAT tuna sub. Even though it’s a bit out of the way for me, I think I’d probably make the trip again. The tuna salad is better than most places that just use some generic recipe. Any place that fills up with the local firefighter troop for lunch must be scoring high marks in the community.

I hate to be the party pooper, but this place does not live up to expectations. After reading the reviews, I was looking forward to getting a great quality and tasty sandwich from Lenny & John’s. I went there on a Saturday afternoon and there were no other customers in the store. That should have been our indication to leave. We were begrudgingly greeted by the employees there. They just stared at us like we were aliens and I didn’t really feel welcome in their store. There was no «great attitude» at Lenny & John’s. My boyfriend ordered a chicken parm and I ordered a GRILLED turkey and cheese sandwich. While we waited for the sandwiches, I looked around for something to drink. They didn’t have that great of a variety, so it was hard to choose. The sandwiches were prepared quickly. I was excited to go home and chow down on my GRILLED turkey and cheese sammy that I was craving all day. Only to come home and realize that they never grilled my sandwich. I paid for a sandwich that I could of made at home. Major disappointment!!! My boyfriend wasn’t too thrilled about his chicken parm either. We won’t return ever again. I feel like these reviews were very misleading about the quality of sandwiches and attention to detail, like actually listening to and confirming your customer’s order.

Bottom line: Cheap, unique, fresh and with a great attitude. The Pro’s: Simple ingredients, large portions, large variety, fair price, great taste The Con’s: Weird location. Kind of out of the way. We also had to wait in line. But that is not a big issue for us.

I’m having a love fest over their tuna sub. Soft bread, quality meats and huge value for the money. Oh and they are — delight to deal with. A whole sub couldn’t even be finished by my husband and I together.

I ordered a 3-foot sub for Super Bowl… It was a last minute decision and I ordered it the day before at 3pm(they were closing). Although it was last minute and I wasn’t able to leave a deposit, they took my order and the sub was ready the next day right when they said it would be! The sub was a HIT at our party and was packed with plenty of meats and cheeses!!! This was my first time ordering anything from Lenny & John’s! Thanks to all of my fellow Unilocalers for the great reviews… I’ve found a new sub spot and I can’t wait to try the tuna that everyone is raving about!
