over priced garbage. I ordered online and the price for a particular item was 14.50. The delivery guy shows up and the receipt says 27.50. Apparently, that is their lunch special, but great job at notating that on your website online. Never ordering from this place ever again. On top of that, the delivery guy was some snobby little douchebag who seemed to get all bitchy over the fact that I was irritated about being misled by the price on the website.

My gf and I were invited by our friends(another couple) and we enjoyed every bit of it! Definitely coming back again. Only reason I didn’t give the 5th star was bc the service needed to be a little more on point.

This is my go to sushi place. Rolls are good, sushi is fresh. Bubble tea is good. Service is a little slow.

Best sushi in NJ! Great tempura. Well worth my money. Spicy shrimp is packed with flavor. Shrimp tempura was magnificent. Chicken tempura had lettuce inside of it which kind of ruined the taste for me. The environment is great. My total for these 3 rolls came out to be 26.00 and I dined in. Update 5÷8÷16 This place is great! Had the spicy squid legs which were awesome but SPICY. I got eel sauce to make it less spicy. Turned out to be great along with my shrimp tempura, spicy crab roll and lobster tempura. I also got the ice cream tempura. Definitely get this desert. Beyond delicious! Update 5÷23÷16 The presentation of the food was great. The meal was extremely delicious. Lunch specials we’re very affordable.

Just picked up a to-go order. Miso soup was plentiful and good. California roll was decent, but can’t really go wrong with that, can you? The spicy tuna smelled VERY fishy and was afraid to eat more than two pieces as the taste and smell were off. First time trying and disappointed.

I came here on a Friday at 8:10pm, and there was no wait for a party of 2. Awesome. We placed our order at 8:20pm, but when 9:15pm rolled around, there was still no food on our table — though I should say that we were served the salad that comes with our sushi meal. The problem was that the restaurant was prioritizing takeout orders(vs. orders taken from diners in the restaurant). Seems a little backwards if you ask me. What was even more frustrating was that the servers told us the chef started on our order at 8:50pm, but it was 9:15pm when I saw the chef actually preparing our sushi. I’d appreciated full transparency/honesty rather than a blatant lie to appease me for several minutes. When the food finally came, I tried my best to eat with an unbiased view. The sushi itself was half decent — not bad, but not great either. I would actually eat the food again if I were craving sushi because there aren’t that many good sushi restaurants in the area, but I would absolutely do takeout only here and never physically dine in the restaurant. BUT if I were going to eat sushi in this area again, I’d much rather spend my money at Ino Sushi in Clifton where sushi and service are BOTH actually good.

Sushi and sashimi was really fresh and delicious. Their special rolls were really chunky and delicious too. It is slightly expensive but, it was worth it.

Best sushi in the Montclair/Bloomfield area hands down. I’ve tried those joints on Bloomfield Ave and they are overpriced and mediocre. I ordered takeout from momoya and not only was the sushi very fresh, but the amount of fish they put in my rolls was seriously bomb. I’m talking huge hunks of salmon. The price point on their lunch menu is unbeatable as well. Definitely my new go-to sushi spot!

I have to say, the place has nice décor, good service, and very good sushi. There are a number of great sushi places in the Montclair/Bloomfield/Nutley area, and this is one of them. If you haven’t been here and are looking to treat yourself to some sushi, this one is well worth a visit.

I asked for shrimp curry but they didn’t have it. I was a bit bummed out since that’s what I really wanted. But we ended up ordering tons of sushi. Very yummy. Very fresh. And I drank the taro bubble tea– Delicious. Service was great. And the restaurant itself is very cute. Side note: the sushi display is like a piece of art. They put great effort into not only making the food taste great but also making it picture perfect. I’ve eaten here once and I would recommend it and personal return.

Two words: mind blown. I’ve had sushi good and great, but never in a million years of this caliber. Came here with some friends on a weeknight and I got the Fancy Home Roll– tuna, salmon, avocado on top(see picture). DIVINE. Avocado was perfect ripeness, sashimi were perfectly tender, presentation was flawless, and very decent portion! The sriracha on top was a nice touch. Definitely full after a roll. Also tried the Momoya spicy tuna, also 5⁄5 with this tangy flavor and fried yellowtail I think on top. Finished off with green tea tempura ice cream and mochi ice cream. Tempura one was perfectly warm without melting the ice cream too much though we wish it came in a bowl, and fried to perfection. Never had anything like it! Mochi one came in 4 halves with whipped cream. Summary: add Momoya to your bucket list sushi places wherever you’re from!

I see some really nice pictures of presentations in store, but for takeout without that fancy presentation it seems like the food doesn’t speak for itself. First off I found their online ordering system terrible. For someone who fairly frequently orders take out, I’ve seen much better systems so there’s no reason for it to be so inefficient. I was going to check it now to detail it better but of course it’s «Sorry! Online order temporarily unavailable, please call to place order! Back» As I remember, I wanted to order 2 chicken teriyakis and you have to select by quantity, so in the comments I had to write what was different: one with soup one with salad. Ideally I could order for one person and add preferences then go back and order for another instead of ordering for both and trying to differentiate in the«special notes». They also had to call me and ask if I wanted brown or white rice and if I ordered sushi or sashimi. This would be MUCH better if these options were selectable when ordering, both so I don’t have to take a personal call at work and to not waste their time either. Also their site plays music and I think one of the first lessons from a web design class I took was don’t auto play music, people don’t like that. For the chicken teriyaki, the chicken was good but it had very few carrots/broccoli and a lot of onions which I don’t think are standard for this dish(at least not from experience or a quick google search of recipes.) As someone who hates onions, it was disappointing to find a bed of them under the dish. I think the décor was super cute and I may try to order just sushi in the future. I’m not sure if I want to try the dine in or not. It’s probably better but possibly only in the visuals. They were able to accommodate me calling up and asking for a later pick up time. This may be better quality than the kind I’ve gotten from mall food courts, but for the price I wasn’t impressed by the taste.

Overall the food isn’t bad. I like the chicken teriyaki that comes with onions. Last time it was raw so I sent it back and it was still raw. Before that I didn’t have as many problems. I heard the sushi is good too.

Followed the hype from other reviews to this place and it was a solid meal for sure but wasn’t hit with anything spectacular. I’m not a huge sushi fan so when I find myself in a Japanese resturant I’m looking for their other dishes to be really good. My favorite thing was the Gyoza appetitzer — pork dumpling. Very tasty, excellent sauce. I had the Katsu chicken with brown rice. Chicken was plentiful and crispy but the sauce gave me a like it — don’t like feeling. It was good and not very good at the same time like may e it was meant as a maranade and not a dipping sauce. I tried the Take roll which i think had eel, tuna and spicy salmon. They were just ok, but again not crazy about sushi. The service and seating were ok, nice décor and food presentation but nothing amazing. If you’re a big sushi eater maybe give it a shot.

Pretty sure Momoya is our new go-to for Sushi. Since moving to Essex county 3 years ago, we’ve been on a discovery tour for sushi and had some good experiences here and there but no real ‘gottahaveit’ standouts. On evenings when we wanted to make sure our tummies and tastebuds were satisfied, we’d go back to our favorite spot in Bergen County. I think we may now be able to save the drive. From the Miso soup and seaweed salad to the Christmas Tree, Philly and Tsunami rolls, we were impressed by the flavor, freshness, presentation and ambience. To put it simply, the rolls are very good and there’s excellent attention to detail and service. We liked the amount of variety but also the simplicity. The little things also shine — the wasabi is really perfect(sweet, hot, fragrant) and the ginger is refreshing. We’ll be back!

I love this place! Fresh fish. Creative rolls. Huge hand rolls. And my favorite thing is the variety of riceless rolls when most places only have a 1; my favorite is definitely the Shogun roll. So refreshing! Kani salads are a great size too, not some puny little pile of crabmeat. Definitely my favorite sushi spot in the area — I just wish they delivered to Lyndhurst(you would think they do) but still worth the 10 – 15 min drive!
