Very nice people here, ordered take out. Pork Fou yong and Pork fried rice. Both items super inexpensive and tasty for the $$. Will definitely try more dishes next time. 3.5 stars for me…

The buffet is smaller than I expected. I enjoyed the food, but I can also find similar food around town. I ate something similar to that of cole slaw, but it was not cole slaw and something else creamy and strange. Prices are great for what you get!

If you can, they have a Chinese menu that can be ordered from. Check to see what they have available… it is genuine Chinese and outstanding food. Just ask either the young man or the young woman to help you in ordering from the Chinese menu(it IS in Chinese).

I don’t do the buffet, which is big for lunch and dinner. Takeout is just fine, but don’t have super gourmet expectations. The buffet is cheaper, but I’m picky. Their crab rangoon has real crab in it, but they color their fried rice for some sort of reason; it looks like the annato yellow coloring used in Mexican rice dishes. They’re friendly, and VERY fast for take out. Call ahead and unless you live across the street, it’ll be ready because the buffet food is their big seller but I think the cook likes short orders.

This place must thrive on lunch buffet and take-out orders because I almost never see more than two families actually eating in the restaurant at any given time. They must be doing ok though because they’ve been at this location for at least the past eight years. For being such a great ethnic food town I’ve always felt that Bloomington’s Chinese Takeaway pickings were fair to mediocre. And while Golden China may not be super duper, I do feel they’re the pick of the geographic litter. I adore their crab Rangoon, Their orange chicken, General Tso’s and Szechuan chicken are also tasty though not nearly spicy enough(even when you ask for extra spicy, but I’m sure they’re used to toning down the spice level for the American palate). I wasn’t too impressed with their egg roll, but that might have been an off night… I usually skip the egg roll to save more room for the crab Rangoon. Oh, and I always feel their white rice is high quality and expertly cooked. It’s always flavorful, and sticky without being mushy.

If I were just rating on the buffet it would be a 3 but their take out is really good specifically the crab rangoon we often make a meal out of just those and some general tso’s from this place. We like the people that work there very much as well. While we no longer live in that part of town we actually drive often from the East side to get these things. So yea while the Buffet is basic the take out orders are extremely good. forget the buffet and just order the takeout.

The food was so-so. Aren’t all buffets like that? The staff was kind of helpful. It’s cheap food. And you get what you pay for. It could be worse. But, if it were worse then I’d have spent more time on the toilet than I already have.
