A great hidden store in Bloomington. The selection on used vinyl varies. For used vinyl there is a $ 3 bin and the a $ 1 bin, of which have very decent stuff that you wouldn’t usually find for a $ 1. I would recommend stopping here

I stopped in here awhile back, and remember the experience like it was yesterday. We entered through the coffeeshop, which was an experience in itself. Subterranean twists and turns, kitschy retro stuff all around, then bam, record shop. Found some great vinyl here, namely the Dawn of the Dead OST. A good variety of music with descriptive labels on the jackets. The clerk was friendly to boot. Would always return if passing by.

I was going through Bloomington and decided to stop in and check it out and it was fantastic! The selection isn’t all out amazing but the pricing is amazing, just amazing. The staff was really helpful and knowledgeable answering any questions I had. I WILL be going back!

I visited this shop to check out the vinyl selection. It’s relatively small – most bands I would be looking for are not here. It also seems that they have a lot of new records and the used ones they take in are higher quality(and thus more expensive). That’s not necessarily a negative, but if you are the type of person that likes to root around for bargain records at the $ 2 – 3 price point, you won’t find much here. They do have bins of records for under $ 5, but there isn’t much of interest. They obviously don’t get many locals in to sell records, or they just don’t want to dedicate any floor space to cheaper vinyl. The guy working there seemed knowledgeable about the records I did pick out. I understand the original owner of the shop has passed away, but they appear to have made an effort to keep the place going with employees that are interested in the music.

If your not going o buy it online(whether its a digital down load or having it shipped) this is the place to go. Unfortunately TD passed away a few years ago so you don’t get the human search engine he was. Check here first before you go looking online.

I was late for the Tom era sadly. @TDs I would always find some really cool lps in the new arrival bin. The staff here is great too. Their weekly picks are worth checking out normally.

Did this place keep going after Tom passed away? I haven’t been back since — I always wondered. I was buying CDs from Tom since before he had his own place. He was always cool about trade-ins, and he was a nice guy to talk to, but he was also absolutely encyclopedic about music, and could always figure out what I was talking about, even if nobody else in town could. Tom’s places were always like that government warehouse at the end of Indiana Jones, where they hid the Ark of the Covenant. You could dig around and find a CD that you would never, ever be able to find anywhere else in your life. And the fact that you could then talk to Tom about it for 20 minutes made it even better. I’ve lived in three major metro areas since I left Indiana, and I still haven’t found a CD store this good. And now I’ve resigned to the fact that I never will, especially since Tom’s left us. I miss this place!
