Toys R Us

Don’t bother. Seriously. We were there and the store was nearly empty, yet employees were just standing around and nobody could find the item we bought in the back room. After a half hour wait we returned the item and left. A waste of time.
And I would say no stars but this app wouldn’t let me.

Toys R Us, believe it or not, still exists! When I needed to purchase some ninja weapons for Unilocal’s Secret Ninja Soirée, somehow, out of nowhere, a theme song started playing in my head.
«I don’t want to grow, I’m a Toys R Us kid. Da dah du dah du dah du dah, bah baaa ba ba bah!» (Does anyone know the words after the first line?)
The last time I stepped foot in one was maybe in the mid-​1990s to buy some Nerf guns with my pops. So when I had to find and buy some toys for the first time in my adult life, I was quite excited to travel back in time to my childhood.
My visit was such a disappointment…
Upon entering, I was immediately greeted with the suffocating stench of plastic. What are companies making toys out of now-​a-​days? Yuck!
The place is huge, and I wandered for several minutes before finding a staff member to possibly direct me to some ninja weapons. When I asked if they carried any, she responded, «I’m sorry, we don’t have ninja stuff.» Okay, maybe kids aren’t into ninjas anymore. That’s totally cool! I followed up with another and asked, «Do ya’ll have any swords?» She sadly replied back, «nope!»
How can you have a toy store –especially as large as this one– and not carry any swords? Especially when the company’s website has tons of them listed on there. Thankfully, I eventually found one underneath a pile of other toys. She didn’t even know! Such a mess.

The selection of toys is wonderful but their customer service and inventory logs are awful… I called and asked if they had a very hard to find item, put on hold for fifteen minutes. She comes back and says yes we have some. I asked if they can hold it for me they can not even with a credit card… So I drive all the way there, and can’t find one person to help me. Finally I find a man who is already searching for this item for someone else! I asked if he could help me and he was very rude! He finally told us both they didn’t have any there was an inventory error and then he got the heck out of there so we couldn’t even confront him! What a joke! Never again!
