Grandfather Country Store

Cute store with some basic provisions for campers, jams, birdhouses, garden art, old books, soda pop… neat little place

We went to this store to buy firewood while camping at nearby Julian Price Lake Campground. It made me chuckle when I drove up as it is a hodge podge of a place. There are old iron bed frames outside next to patio furniture and various other pieces of antiques/​crap. We navigated through it all into the store which was so jam packed with stuff it was hard to walk! There was an empty bin with a Firewood sign on it, so I had to ask if there was any anywhere else. Of course there was not, but they did show me these things called BlazinBuddies which are self contained blocks of wood that guarantee to burn for 3+ hours. We bought two (and LOVED them).
This is normally a place I would avoid, but the people working there were just so gosh darn nice that I kinda love this place now. The lady gave me a discount, asked where I was from and just had such a warm and welcoming demeanor, it was easy to look past all the crap! The store also had organic lollypops (how random) along with food, basic toiletries, medicines and pretty much anything you might have forgotten before you decided to go camping in the middle of nowhere.
