I really wanted to like this place since I pass it all the time and it could have been very convenient but unfortunately this is not the case. I came here with my husband for the first time and purchased different crab cakes and the lobster bisque the same day after we ate some of the food my husband had a very bad food poisoning which he is still recovering from… I wish I never stopped here because it wasn’t worth the sleepless night hear my husband suffer.

Their crab cakes are amazing!!! I was surprised to taste the flavor and how much crab meat rather than filler was in the crab cake.

I passed by this place on my lunch break and knew I had to come back. I am a HUGE fan of crab cakes(I usually make my own). They offer take out ‘heat and eat” with a variety of options… 6 different crab cakes, shrimp, shrimp cakes, sides: lobster mac n cheese, etc… I went with 2 different crab cakes, one breaded and one lump. Both were DELICIOUS!!! I grabbed a few shrimp, a shrimp cake and the garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was great! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of their products. While I was waiting they let me try one of their horseradish sauces on a giant shrimp. Delish!!! Prices are good, place was clean, staff was friendly and efficient… Food was excellent. I will be back for sure. I highly recommend trying or returning to this place :-)

We ordered 65 crab cakes and a bunch of steamed shrimp from the Newtown Square location for a special party(I think we ordered the Smith Island Crab Cakes). Everyone said they were the best crab cakes they ever had and I agree. Just heat and serve and so flavorful and moist. I wouldn’t hesitate to order from Capt’n Chuckys! They made us look great!

Captain Chucky’s Blue Bell was one of my favorite go to take out seafood markets. That was however, when Tom and Lois were the owners. I have been there a number of times since the new owners have taken over and today will probably be the last. For starters the new owners are clueless as to how to interact with their customers. Tom was always there to greet you when you walked through the door with a sample of shrimp on a toothpick. He was always eager to engage in the topic of the day. I was so sad to learn of his passing. His wife, Lois was always so endearing and friendly. In their place is now an abrupt, unfriendly husband and a wife who is bringing their children to the job while she struggles to prepare the food for the day and man the cash register. As a result, the service is rushed and the product is suffering. What use to be tasty, is now bland. And while the quality has gone down, the prices have gone up. So much of what I looked forward to, such as Lobster pie, special take out dinners of the week, stuffed baked potatoes, rolls etc are now missing. The showcase refrigerator is now sparse and missing all the choices that I had so looked forward to. Tonights crab cakes were fishy, the stuffed mushrooms and cole slaw bland. I use to eat the cole slaw in the parking lot, it was so good. Now it is just some cabbage with a tasteless dressing. And not much of it at that! It seems that they are only concerned with short term profits versus long term loyalty. I wish I’d known the franchise was for sale, I would have bought it myself and continued the tradition that Tom and Lois had started. I am sad and will probably try the Colmar location where Tom and Lois’s partner’s continue to serve their clientele.

What a find! I’m so confident about this food that I serve it to company. Wonderful«Heat and Eat» meals that take minutes to prepare. Great for the weeknight when I’m too tired to cook(with the added benefit of no dishes to scrub). My personal favorite is the Lobster Pot Pie. For me it’s the ultimate comfort food. I keep one in my freezer as a treat to combat stressful days. With a glass of Pinot and my belly full I’m back to my happy self!

Awesome, awesome, awesome… wait… did I say this place was awesome? LOL. This review is for the Colmar location. Fantastic! Best seafood from a store we’ve ever purchased. The stuffed shrimp were absolutely incredible, so yummy. I only had two and that was plenty. Their lobster bisque is very good and the crab cakes are incredible. This was our first time going here and I will def. be back. The gentleman at counter was extremely friendly and welcoming. I wish we found this place sooner! It’s kind of hidden away — it’s right next door to the new Red Cedar Inn, so make a left at the light before you see the restaurant across from the U-haul. We almost missed it!

Captain Chucky’s is doing everything right. The owners are friendly and welcoming and the products are fantastic. They sell very nice quality cocktail shrimp at a fair price. Also the soups are delicious. The crab cakes are very good and the quality is outstanding but they are a bit bland for my taste. Take note of the specials; their grab and go meals are tasty, reasonable and convenient. During the summer don’t miss out on the shrimp Caesar salad! Also Captain Chucky’s brings in special seafood products that are very hard to find elsewhere. Right now they have a shipment of fresh(never frozen) king crab coming in on 10⁄31. You have to order ahead and it may be too late for this one but if you get on their email list you’ll hear about the next offer. They usually bring in fresh salmon and other treats throughout the year.

Searching for a crab cake away from the shore? Your search is over. We got a small container of New England clam chowder and it was delicious. We should have gotten the bigger one. It was pure cream with chunks of clams and no potatoes. We got one of each crab cake and they were all tasty. The Smith island cake they say is their best. It doesn’t have any breading on the outside. We preferred the imperial and signature cakes. My husband also got a shrimp cake and that was good too. Capt’n Chucky’s also has a nice selection of cheesecake to finish off your meal which they sell by the piece. The staff was helpful too. We will be back.

Amazing crabcakes in a number of varieties. Even my incredibly picky grandfather enjoyed their imperial.

Oh wow I love the Maryland crab soup here! And the lump crab cakes WITHOUT any breading. It’s literally just deliciously seasoned crab meat. Shame on me for not stopping by earlier, especially since I am literally down the street. Anyhow, I digress(yes yes it is a true talent but…). The soup was hearty, full of crab meat, and very flavorful. I also tasted the New England Clam Chowder, which was decent, but not as great as Durgin Park’s up in Haymarket; it was creamy but a tad bland and did not have any potatoes, which kinda made me sad since I love potatoes in my chowder. Plenty of clam meat though! Anyhow, crab cakes(be sure to get the premium because all other options have a filling or breading!) are delicious and very nicely priced at $ 5.25. Soup was $ 5.75 for a pint. I will definitely be back but this is a fantastic option for Lenten Fridays.

RRRRRRR! All hail the dread Captain of Tastey! Captain Chucky’s is a seafood takeout place that serves up too many seafood items for me to mention. I can speak on behalf of their scrumptious crab cakes. The cakes even come with directions on how to best make them in the oven, for the cooking impaired like me. The shop is run by Tom and his wife, and they’re really friendly. All aboard the good ship tasty!
