There are 3 reasons I’m only giving two stars but I want to start by saying something nice. Everyone at Epling was very nice and easy to work with.
But here’s why I won’t be using them again:
1. Mowing was uneven and sloppy — they destroyed my lawn edges where it meets the mulch beds by cutting the grass way to short right at the edge. They also blew all of the clippings into my basement stairwell, our garden and the side of the house — I had to clean up each time to get my basement stairway drain from clogging. (They need to shoot the discharge away from the house!)
2. Billing was unreliable. They made several errors and sometimes I didn’t get a bill at all.
3. The bushes they installed died or are on their way to dying and no one has bothered to check on them and replace them.
Sorry, really wanted to like these guys but I’m going with someone else next year. I used Epling for 1 full year. I purchased just about all of their recommended services.

They actually deserve 0 stars — but we’re forced to give them at least one! :(The lawn mowing is sub par and uneven. They did our mulch beds this year. They edged parts of what we paid them to do and put in mulch. Then proceeded to blow it all away each time they mowed. Within less than a month the mulch job they did was gone! When I asked to have them not blow the mulch away and to try to to completely destroy our kids playset with the weed eater. Their reply was to just stop service. Crap work, crap company. Can’t wait til my neighborhood ditches them completely. There’s a reason people hate them… poor quality for above average prices.

I am updating my review. My shrubs had been damaged during the spring cleanup and was quite the eyesore which was why I gave my initial rating. However after reaching out to the company they replaced the damaged shrubs with news ones. I appreciated their ownership of this issue and making it right which is why I changed from 1 star to 4 stars.

Epling had originally done some landscaping for my townhouse in 2009. Over the years they were not always the most responsive, but nothing too terrible. The most recent issue causing me to write the review was due to my latest experience.
I am putting my house on the market, and needed some clean up of the yard. I spoke to them, and they said they would call me back within 2 days with a quote. A week later I had not heard from them, so i followed up; they stated my house was to be done that day. Later on, they called back stating that they didn’t realize I lived in a townhouse and they no longer service townhomes. Unfortuantely, this left me hanging, with no one to help before the open house.
So, for those wishing to use Epling — they’re work is ok (not bad, but not great), but their follow up is terrible!
