They accepted a reservation from opentable and then were closed when we arrived. We drove an hour and were very disappointed at Kevin and opentable. Will not go back; they are closed!

Wow! Great dining experience. Charming atmosphere, friendly staff, and neat and clean restaurant. Our server, Stav, was exceptional; described the dishes perfectly, gave great recommendations, and could not have been nicer. The«black and white» soup was interestingly different, yet scrumptious. Goat cheese appetizer, cooked to perfection and so tasty, with a light chili sauce. Gorgonzola salad was copious and filled with fresh, crispy greens. Our only regret? We didn’t have room to try the apple pie dessert. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you, Stav!

The Little Things Count, Too We had a mixed reaction to our first time visit. Seemed like they got the main things right, but missed the little things that would have improved our overall experience. Goat cheese appetizer: creamy/flavorful but served with only three small pieces of toast. When we asked for more our waitress told us «everyone asks for more.» So, if that’s the case, and you’re charging $ 12 for it, why wouldn’t you increase the amount of toast you’re serving? We eventually got 3 more pieces, but 8 pieces in total would have been more appropriate. Roast duck breast main plate: A reasonably large amount of well-cooked duck, served with a few small dabs of cherry sauce — nowhere near enough. Again — asked for more sauce. And again got the same response that customers usually asked for more. Waitress returned with a small serving dish of sauce. Fit nicely on the plate and was the right amount to go with the portion(so why not serve it that way in the first place?) The side dish of a colorless mixture of cabbage, potato, bacon, and beans was flavorful, but seemed pretty inelegant for a $ 26 entrée. Blackened redfish: I asked for substantial blackening spices, and that’s what I got on a nicely seared and good-sized piece of fish. Really enjoyable. But bland rice and some leeks didn’t do much to complement the dish and plating was basically — «here’s the fish and colorless sides.» At $ 26 I expected more imagination.

My wife and I used to frequent the old place in Davie and we were sad to see the restaurant close. Well, the kids are almost gone and we are about to start dating again and so happy that we can do it at one of our favorite places. Chef Kevin does not disappoint. The restaurant is small but comfortable(not cramped) and the menu is as good as it ever was. The only disappointment I have is that the Ostrich steaks in cherry sauce isn’t available! It should be clear indication of how good Chef is by looking at how many loyal customers he has who have followed him wherever he goes. Proud to be part of Kevin’s Army!

Amazing place, phenomenal food. The staff are extremely friendly and so helpful. The food is beyond outstanding and the atmosphere is so enjoyable. You can come in dressed in your most comfortable attire, and enjoy some of the best food that Boca has to offer. The fish was extremely fresh. There are truly not enough wonderful things to say about this place.

We ate here two months ago and had a great experience. Unfortunately tonight it seemed like the restaurant did a complete 180. We sat with our friends for over twenty minutes while our waiter neglected to ask us if we wanted any drinks or appetizers. Another 10 minutes passed after he said he would be right with us. The hostess eventually took our order. Never told us if there were any specials. Never gave us the breadsticks that were served two months ago. The food was just ok. Last time we were there the owner came around to ask how everything was. I guess he was not there tonight and we won’t be going back.

Wowzer! So happy to see they are back! I didn’t know that they had moved to Boca Raton. I was extremely fortunate to be there when the Armadillo was shooting some video and were featuring different dishes in the video and I got to sample them all! Here goes! The presentation of each plate is a work of art. 1. GORGANZOLASALAD — Share it, it’s large! Apples, Almonds, Greens, Spicy Onion Rings, Gorgonzola Dressing, not too much. This salad is delightful. 2. BEEFSTEAKTOMATOES&BURRATA — Burrata Cheese, Basil, EVOO, Fleur de Sel, Balsamic reduction. That cheese is the bomb! Tomatoes were perfectly ripe. Loved it. 3. TEQUILAGRILLEDSHRIMP — Charred Rustic Corn Cakes, Pico de Gallo, Chipotle Butter. This is a little slice of heaven. Shrimp is delicious. The corn cakes look like pancakes. It’s a great pairing. 4. TUNA&AVOCADOTARTARE — Fried Shallots, Wasabi Soy, Chips. This was light and super tasty. Perfect appetizer. 5. AGAVEMARINATED10 oz. SIRLOINSTEAK — Roasted Cauliflower, Portobello Mushroom, Onion Straws, Balsamic Caramel. The steak was so tender, just like butter and the sauce is the perfect compliment. I LOVED the cauliflower. 6. CHILECUREDDUCKBREAST — Apple, Benton’s Bacon, Gigante Beans, Cabbage, Dried Cherry Sauce. This is my all time favorite! The duck was delicious by itself but the cherry sauce pushed it over the top. The cabbage was to die for with the delicious bacon, apple and gigante beans. Whoa mamma! 7. Samoa Cheesecake. This little homemade slice of fabulousness was like nothing I have ever had before and I ate the whole thing. So good. That’s a lot to download but everything was delicious and beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Chef Kevin, his wife and daughter are super friendly and come out and schmooze with the diners. I like them very much. I loved the décor. They have done some really cool things. You’ll have to go see this cozy place for yourself. Do it!

Definitely way overpriced. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. The server was inexperienced and it showed. Our menus were removed before we ordered and this confused our waitress and made it harder to order. I asked for more bread and got 3 tiny slices.

We had eaten at the original Armadillo in Davie years ago and were anxious to try the restaurants incarnation in Boca. While we remember the original being an attractive restaurant, the Boca version was not — no table cloths, and unattractive, inexpensive-looking tables and fixtures befitting a diner or low-end Italian restaurant. There’s no full bar — surprising in an expensive restaurant and given the current popularity of cocktails; just beer and wine. Armadillo kept their signature bi-colored soup which is still tasty but arrived luke warm. The servers may have been family members as they seemed to want to do their best, but were inexperienced and not up to the level of professionalism you would expect in a chain restaurant much less upscale dining. We had the yellowtail snapper — a delicate fish that didn’t need much more than a light seasoning, light sauce or dusting of breadcrumbs. Unfortunately, it was covered in a heavy sauté of tomatoes and mushrooms that overpowered the fish. It was served with tasteless, white rice and an empty place on the plate that seemed fit for a vegetable, but perhaps they ran out. Armadillo has promise, but at this price level they need to substantially improve the atmosphere, hire experienced servers, and fix issues in the kitchen: cold soup? plain white rice with a $ 29 entrée? A menu that promises a sauce infused with Ginger, but there is none?

So happy to find the Armadillo has been re-incarnated again. The location is great and easy to get to, we met friends from Jupiter and we came from Southwest Broward. We sat at the bar waiting for our friends and shmoozed with chef Kevin. We have literally followed him his entire career and always been huge fans. Currently they have wine and beer but are hoping to have a full bar eventually. That was fine for us. The décor is very pleasant and comfortable. We were there over three hours catching up with old friends. For a Friday night the place was relatively quiet and we were happy since we could actually talk and hear the people we were sitting with. We ordered appetizers — the duck quesadilla and the tuna avocado thing. Both yummy. Three people had three different fish dishes and I had the steak fish. All happy Desserts look great. We want to come back and try more items. Glad armadillo is back.

ZERO stars. Where do I begin. Beefsteak tomatoes and Barrata — tomatoes were hard and the cheese was warm and runny. Yellowtail snapper /could not eat. Tasted as if was sitting u set a heat lamp for 20 minutes and the fish was chewy and tasted as if it was a frozen dinner. The chile curlers dick(which came out 10 minutes after the rest of my party was served? Was like leather. ZERO stars.

Ducked in for dinner before seeing a comedian next door at Boca Black Box and it was a great time, here’s why: * There were 3 hotties having drinks in the bar section. Meow. * This is the same Armadillo that used to be in Broward County. * Brand new location, only been here about 4 months. * Awesome décor, different textures, squeaky clean. * Excellent food. * Family business. * Complimentary breadsticks. * GREAT service from hottie Devon, despite the fact that the joint was packed because of a large special event. * Kevin the chef /owner came by the table to chat. I ate: * Agave Marinated 10 oz. Sirloin with Onion Straws and Brussels Sprouts($ 26) and the steak was prepared perfectly. It was delicious(see photo). * The Famous Black and White Soup($ 6). This was awesome. Half Black Bean Soup and half Jalapeño Jack Cheese Soup with yellow and red pepper purée. Just the right amount of heat. SOGOOD. Apparently this soup is a legacy soup that is very popular with diners, and local media. I get it. Organic veggies are a big deal here. Chef Kevin tells me Boca is a little more veggie conscious than Davie was. Right now they only have beer and wine. I was pleasantly surprised by the fair pricing considering we were sat in West Boca. Chef Kevin tells me he’s trying to find the right angle for full liquor. Outdoor patio seating coming soon. Good stuff, check it out, TRYTHESOUP. Cabeza OUT!

Save your money. Came here back in April with parents and grandparents. My grandparents suggested this place as they are friends with the owner. We wanted a 730pm reservation which we were told was unavailable when calling ahead so we settled for 630. Restaurant is in a seriously strange location but heard the food at their other location was impeccable so we did not judge upon the exterior. Walked in and there was only one other table. At this point we are all confused to why we couldn’t get a later reservation. Whatever. Started with Duck Quesadillas which came out with 5 slices. There were 6 of us. Also got an order of the jalapeño corn fritters which were literally the only thing on the menu we all enjoyed. As far as the entrees go, we each got something different. Stuffed Chicken, Duck Breast, Skirt Steak,(2) Pork Chops and Steak Tacos. Not one of us was impressed. Actually, to this day, 4 months later, when we are trying to decide where to go, we always joke around saying«THEARMADILLO???» Hah. Needless to say, we wont be back.

We have now eaten here at Armadillo for over four times and all I can say is that each and every time the food preparation, quantity and selection continues to amaze. Tonight was no different and the new Salmon dish on the menu was a hit at our table. We learned to save room for desserts and are continually impressed by the delicious deserts made by the chefs wife Stacie. Armadillo, see you again soon.

Second time eating here and was a little disappointed. The food was tasteless except for the poblano pepper which was salty and inedible. We had the chocolate fritters which lacked any sweetness at all, and the vanilla ice cream watery and tasteless also. The staff as always was friendly but I don’t think this place will survive on tasteless food.

Nice, small, good atmosphere restaurant. I had the branzino that was on the Mother’s Day special. I heard the waiter tell another table to go with the snapper and not this dish. I should have listened. It was a bit dry and not too tasty. My wife also ordered it and she was ok with it. My daughter ordered the snapper and she loved it. Service was slow. Don’t be in a hurry when you eat here. But this may have been because of the large parties that were there for Mother’s Day. I will try it again and will order from the main menu next time. Let’s see if I can give it another star.
