Cute little soda shop. The place was clean and has outside seating for warmer night’s. The staff was friendly and service fast. The ice cream was some of the best I’ve had. I had the turtle sundae with vanilla bean ice cream. The chocolate and caramel sauces were made in-house and were fantastic. My wife had a scoop of their toasted coconut ice cream and said it was the best ice cream she’s ever had. We can’t wait to go back again.

Stopped in again, this time for hot chocolate. Still ever soooooo slow to get the drink. There was only one other couple in the shop and they already had their ice cream before I ordered.

I love this place and I understand the line on a hot summer day but last night there was no line and it still took 20 minutes to get our hot chocolate. There were at least 4 people working and we walked right up to the counter to order. Yayeee, I thought in my head, I caught this place with no line. Well line or no line we still waited way too long for three hot chocolates. Everyone is always friendly and the hot chocolates were delectable but I don’t understand why it took so long? Fun walk down candy memory lane so that helped pass our time.

This place is absolutely delicious! I had the pumpkin ice cream and my husband had the marionberry cream soda. Both were so good we wanted seconds. Worth the money.

It was good. The service was great I went there during the Hyde park festival and the staff were doing a great job.

It’s such a cute place and staff is very friendly. I felt like a kid in a candy store! They make a lot of their products in store. Carmel popcorn and ice cream is amazing.

The servers was very helpful and nice. They let you taste any flavors you wanted before selecting. I had the toasted coconut and it was fabulous! Also, I’m going back today for more caramel corn. It’s probably the best I’ve had in 30 years! Yummo!

Average taste for high price. Sees candy at the mall is better and cold Stone too. Long lines to wait for food. Understaffed and the staff look tired of serving the never ending line of customers. My opinion is that this place is all hype. But I’ve heard good things about caramel corn so I’ll go back and give an update. But for now, it’s a 3 star.

Great local joint. Smells wonderful in there with all the candy and ice cream. Great spot for a meet up on a hot summer day. Awesome patio seating. Bring a date for some sweets.

Here for a gift I was wanting to buy for someone. But didn’t get any help with the front desk. Probably they were too busy and there was a long line.

Very cute soda fountain style candy shop with ice cream and coffee. Great place to take the kids for a special treat. My favorite is the Affogato, ice cream mixed with espresso.

First of all — LOVETHISPLACE. When I was looking for ice cream places on Unilocal(few weeks back), this came up and I thought of giving it a try. I am so glad I did. So far, this is the best ice cream that I have ever had! The first time we went, there was a small band playing music outside(I do not know the schedule) and the place is ALWAYS packed. I have been here 4 – 5 times so far and I always order something different. Ice creams(homemade): they have good number of everyday flavors(chocolate almond, Oreo. Etc) and a few alternating flavors(I have had lemon and orangesickle). Lemon and orangesickle — very dreamy flavors, they taste fresh and have soft texture– addicted to orangesickle. They can put you on a call list for any favorite alternating flavor. In all, their ice creams are so creamy and I will keep going back to try something new. They also have a few flavors of sorbet. Cones: I have had bad experience with ice cream cones but I wanted to try their ‘homemade cone’. Its safe to say they have the most delicious homemade cones. Shakes: very creamy, thick and tasty! Chocolates: they have wide variety of them but I am yet to try any. And their whip cream is homemade as well… So never say no to that whip cream. They have soda floats, frozen banana, sundaes, shakes & Malts, Italian sodas, etc(check out their menu) Staff: friendly, quick and helpful. Long lines to order: yes(most of the time I have been there) Is it worth it: YES! I am surprised that I found this place now, I have been in and out of Boise for over 2 years. I absolutely recommend checking this place out. I go here at least once a week… Oh what the hell, I am heading there now.

We are here visiting and saw this on Unilocal had to try it. Such a cute place inside. Ice cream was good, would definitely try again. Love the old school feel and look.

Lots of kinds of candies and homemade chocolate treats, ice creams, and fountain sodas. Everything was very good. It was very busy on a Sunday night and the staff did a wonderful job of staying on top of it and the service was great. This is a great place to go on a hot day for a cold treat.

The ice cream really is THAT good. My only gripe is that it was 10 – 15 min before we got our ice cream, on a Monday night in April when it didn’t seem that busy. I can’t even imagine what the wait is like in the high season, but again — the ice cream is really really freaking good.

I would come here every day if I lived in Boise. Fresh ice cream, popcorn, chocolate, and candy… what more could you want?! Everyone was super friendly and seemed genuinely excited about the products in their store — which is always a good sign. I can think of no where else where they make their own ice cream using real, simple ingredients. I have a huge soft spot for fresh waffle cones, too, so this was a real treat for me. They have something really special going on here. Don’t gripe about the wait, either. Instead, relax and enjoy the fabulous smells and happy people.

Hubby and me have been being more careful about what we eat since the start of the year. We’d both had a hankering for ice cream for a bit, so I decided that rather than go the usual ‘soft serve’ route at Sonic or Dairy Queen, we’d check out Unilocal for a new place. Helloooo Goody’s. Located in an old house in Hyde Park(an area that reminds me of NW23rd Street in Portland), entering Goody’s is like being transported back to the past. This is a place where Willy Wonka would feel right at home. From the old glass candy jars lining the shelves, the blast of caramel corn smell and the sounds of the soda fountain, it’s a return to days gone by when ice cream and candy were not every day staples, but true treats to be savored. We we very fortunate to find a parking spot on the street right in front of the building. It was 63 degrees on a FEBRUARY day in Boise and people were out in droves. Watch yourself on the sidewalks and stairs going into Goody’s as some people tend to let their kids run around like wild things and it’s easy to find yourself being bumped. My impression(after clearing my head of the caramel corn miasma and general awe) is that the interior of Goody’s is a dark space not big enough to serve the kind of volume they see. What seats they offer are hard(wooden chairs, benches and stools). There is no table service. EVERYONE– whether they are there for ice cream, candy or caramel corn has wait in the same line. While there were two registers running when we were there you would not have known it from there being one thick rope of a line of people waiting to get to the center register. That line snakes back into the seating area, so people seated to enjoy their treats find various parts of peoples anatomy at eye level. There is no pre-screening for orders. SO even if YOU know what YOU want, you are still forced to stand there while a family of five decides what each person wants, right down to the sprinkles on the ice cream. After experiencing this I know why some reviews for Goody’s are so yin and yang. The ice cream really is THATGOOD, but the process to get it is an undertaking such that I would never dream of even going NEAR Goody’s in the summertime. There were eight kinds of ice cream available, and two kinds of frozen yogurt. Because all of the flavors were either fruit(except vanilla, and chocolate) or coffee flavored(seriously, no savories, no butter pecan, or caramel, or turtle. not even rocky road) I opted for the traditional banana split and a root beer float(for me and my husband). After the battle to get the order placed, receiving our yummy treats was found to be well worth the effort. The ice cream, creamy, spot on flavors and good sized portions, the toppings, true to the mark– big chunks of pineapple, strawberries and yummy chocolate. Right down to the whipped cream and TWO cherries(I’d asked for two). The root beer float. HEAVENLY. I might consider a banzai run to pick up a pint of ice cream in the future, maybe some caramel corn– but I don’t think any force short of a private party could get me to venture in to stand in that line and then try and sit in the room. That is, unless they expand their space and/or rework their order process. Spend a bit in that crowded room with whining and crying children and sugar hyped persons of all ages and you’ll understand.

Best ice cream in Boise, hands down! I love the fact that they make their ice cream in house and use all of the best REAL ingredients. They have spoiled my taste buds and now all other ice cream will never taste the same to me again.

Sooo super cute! I felt like I was on the old school TV set of Mayberry! Replete with soda fountain stools, glass banana split bowls, & every delectable topping your imagination could muster! Jelly beans of every color & flavor, chocolates, made fresh caramel corn, fudge, toffee, etc. A limited selection of ice cream flavors– which was creamy, sweet & fresh. The experience is actually better than the ice cream itself but no matter! I had the vanilla ice cream w almonds & coconut truffles, home made hot fudge & real whipped cream… DELISH! My 3 yr old niece liked her«pananilla I.e. Vanilla ice cream w rainbow jelly beans too. Out door seating. Very friendly service. A tiny bit pricy.
