Kind of a dump, hasn’t seen a remodel since the 80s. Bad weather curtailed going up to Sugar Mountain until the next morning. Everything else was booked up. Served its purpose as basic accommodations. Doubt I’ll ever stay again. Needs to be demo’d to make room for a new hotel.

The good: the room is attractive, with a dark-wood desk and deep closet. It’s clean. The staff are very friendly and professional. The bed is comfortable. There’s good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The free breakfast is comprehensive, with a lot of choices, including waffles. The WiFi works very well. The bad: It’s a good thing the staff is so prompt about maintenance requests because the toilet kept backing up. And no, we put nothing down it that wasn’t supposed to go in. That comfortable king bed apparently had a queen fitted sheet on it that kept popping loose in the middle of the night. WTH? It’s incredibly noisy. The place is apparently a the go-to accommodation for visiting high school and college teams, so you can imagine what the corridors are like around 10:30 after the pool closes and a bunch of rowdy teens away from home are banging around. Soundproofing is non existent. Oh, and the waffle iron doesn’t work properly. It’s a minor thing, but it was the last straw. The people were so nice, I kind of hate to ding the place, but I have to say, I don’t think we’ll be back… and we’re going to be coming up here a lot.

We came to this area to stay at a conference center with the understanding that 2 couples would have a room together and then we’d have a room for our teen girls and a room for our teen guys. We were unceremoniously coupled with a much larger group that we didn’t know and would have to share two bathrooms with 20+ people. I immediately got on the phone and started making phone calls to find 4 rooms available and at least one needed to be pet friendly. This hotel was the **ONLY** one pet friendly within a 15 minute radius AND had availability. We paid for our rooms, checked in and got into our rooms in less than 30 minutes. The rooms are very, very comfortable. Cozy in a cabin way, décor is updated but very lodge-like and very clean. I have stayed in 5 star hotels that were not as clean as this room is. It is not a 5 star, but definitely I would stay here again. Plus, I get my own room so crazy teens won’t keep me up

Not a bad place. Nicely kept. Clean. Staff is friendly. Rooms are dim. No center light. 3 dim lamps. No views. But central location. Has a gym. 1 treadmill, 1 elliptical, 1 stationary bike. And some weights. Really small room. But when I was here there was no one else using it so it didn’t bother me. But the only reason I booked this place was because it was the closest to where I was going with an indoor pool and jacuzzi. And jacuzzi has been down and will be down for weeks. Just wish they would post that. I would have went somewhere else.

It was a good, clean place to lay your head but it was lacking in certain areas. It is under renovation which we were not told about when we booked. Pool and fitness facilities were closed which we had been looking forward to. The hallways smelled of paint and other noxious chemicals. The room was well appointed and clean with a fridge and microwave. However a card in the room says they will change the sheets every 2 days unless requested. This meant that housekeeping never entered our room to check on towels, make beds, or replenish toilet paper and toiletries. For the price I can’t complain too badly. It was a comfortable place to sleep.

You get what you pay for. Not very expensive, not super nice. They allow dogs, which is great because we went hiking and wanted to bring our dog along. There is an additional $ 50 charge for the dog. Relatively good location. The staff seemed friendly. The room itself was OK, sort of dark.
