The reason I am leaving two stars is because their prices are cheaper on their website and they do not price match to their own website at their store. Seems a little ridiculous to me.

Been going there for awhile and so far nothing has disappointed me. The Kobe burger is off the hook. Fed it to my family and they all said best burger EVER! The different sausages are delicious and the jerky has my vote. You must try the wild boar jerky I’m going back today just thinking about it is getting me hungry

Although great food, they greatly undervalue their employees. They don’t provide health insurance unless you consider the employee making a 75% contribution really providing insurance. They pay very low, way below fair pay for the work environment. Zero appreciation for the people who are really enabling the company to continue to grow. I would take my business elsewhere.

This review is for an online order. I looked everywhere for an ostrich egg near me, and all I could get were the shells! So I started widening my search. I was worried about shipping an egg cross-country, but I had to try. I was so thrilled that it arrived perfectly intact and unspoiled! I would have zero worries about ordering from Fossil Farms again!

What a cool and unique place this is! Fossil Farms is an online retailer and distributor of exotic meats and organic meats. As of a couple years ago they opened up a retail store right at the front of their warehouse! There are tons and tons of exotic meats, which are all farm raised, so you wouldn’t have to worry about some meats being too gamey. There’s stuff in this store that I would never imagined to cook with! Never in the world would I imagine to cook things like Emu, Yak, or even Kangaroo! I tell you what… I’m going to start making some of these exotic meats now! They can hook you up with pretty much any farm raised meat that’s out there. Not only do they carry exotic meats, but they also carry a vast amount of farm raised«regular meats». There are many different cuts of Wild Boar and Berkshire pork; in the future I’m looking forward to making some Berkshire pork Osso Bucco! They have a large selection of Wagyu-Kobe beef and Piedmontese Beef, which is this super healthy and tasty Italian beef that never heard of. The store also sells a good selection of gourmet spices, oils, and marinades. Also, they have all kinds of charcuterie; if you really want to go crazy you can buy an entire prosciutto leg! I love the people who work here; they have tons and tons of information and are happy to answer any questions. In fact, I got schooled on a lot of this just from them telling me about their many different meats and products and where they come from. Also, don’t forget to sign up for their mailing list because they do tastings from time to time! The prices may seem a little steep, but for what you’re getting it’s really not that bad. There was so many things that I never tried and I had a million ideas in my head so, I only picked up a hand full of items. I’m going to look at some recipes so that next time I come here, I’ll know exactly what I want.

As a former restaurateur I can appreciate an establishment like this. They have numerous game items that cannot be found with ease elsewhere and have an even larger selection on their website. Boar, Bison, Elk, Venison, Ostrich, etc., can all be found here. While they are typically frozen it is frozen in such a manner that it preserves the meat and is not like buying frozen products at your local supermarket. They also have a large selection of cured meats and other accompaniments which pair well with you game selection. I particularly like the duck eggs which are always rich and delicious. They frequently have items to sample and offer tastings on the weekends so you can try something a bit more exotic than you are used to as well as providing some cooking suggestions if you have never prepared game. I highly recommend visiting the store if you have even a passing interest in trying to replicate some of the dishes you may have had at finer restaurants. It all starts with top notch ingredients and Fossil Farms has that covered.

Being a foodie is all about experimentation and having no hesitations about trying innovative and exciting dishes. One cannot just eat the same food all the time and experience all that the world of fine cuisine has to offer. I also feel that although dining at top-notch restaurants can broaden your horizons in the realm of gastronomy, cooking your own foodie-inspired fare gives you a satisfaction that is unparalleled. Furthermore, being a male that loves food the way I do, and also enjoys cooking, the approaching summer means that I get to light the grill and start cooking with fire again. I thought that I would let the foodie community in a little secret that is tucked away in a seldom traveled area in Boonton, NJ. Although right off the highway, Route 287, this remarkable shop is somewhat off the beaten path in an industrial park off Myrtle Ave. The clandestine market that I am referring to is named Fossil Farms, located at 81 Fulton Street, Boonton, NJ7005, and they specialize in Exotic Meats. Some of the rare treats Fossil Farms offers are Kobe Beef sliders, a veritable smörgåsbord of insanely tasty sausages consisting of Venison Sausage with blueberries and merlot wine, Wild Boar Sausage with cranberries and apples, Pheasant Sausage with hazelnuts and cognac wine and Rabbit Sausage with Dijon mustard, and some hyper exotic meats like Alligator, Antelope, Elk, Emu Eggs, Kangaroo, Quail, Rattle Snake and Yak. This list is not by far a complete representation that this niche company offers. The complete list of their delectable foodie fare can be found on their website, where you can order from, complete with dry ice shipping. I, for one, would rather save the shipping cost and take the ride over to Boonton and spend my savings on more meat, but as they say, «to each his own,» I suppose. Due to the rarity of the food that is offered by Fossil Farms, you must be prepared for the prices when you shop there. One of the main things that I remember when purchasing food from Fossil Farms is that they are the only purveyors of this product in the area. It is not like I can go to ShopRite or Pathmark and pick up a pound of Wild Boar and be on my merry way. It is for this reason, that I can justify paying $ 10, $ 20, sometimes even $ 30 a pound for a delicacy that I have yet to attempt in my foodie career. Just because an item appears on the Fossil Farms website does not necessarily mean that the store has it in stock. The brick and mortar store for Fossil Farms is not a huge place and only has a few freezers that hold their product. They simple cannot carry every product they sell at this location, but I have been told they can and will do special orders if you do not see what you are looking for.

A huge variety of natural, farmed raised game and exotic meats. One of a kind in the area.
