Nothing special here. Just your average fare in an old timey and outdated environment. Lots of better places to eat around here!

I would not recommend this restaurant, in fact, I stay stay away at all costs. I did give one star because the Clam Chowder is excellent, really top notch. Every other aspect of this restaurant is poor. If you must go, try to get take out and only order clam chowder. We were seated and had to wait 45 minutes to get menus and order drinks. Several times we flagged down a waiter and were told someone would be with us soon. There were many other tables experiencing the same difficulties even though there seemed to be plenty of waiters around, nobody was getting service. Total Twilight Zone restaurant. We finally got a waitress and menus and were told our order would expedited. We actually received soup quickly, before our first drinks were brought, but it did come quick and it was excellent. Then we waited 45 minutes more for our main course and then 45 minutes more to pay check. We finally went to bar and paid our bill… crazy bad service. Nothing good worth mentioning about main courses, lobster was small and nothing special. Sides were nothing special either. Drinks were interesting sounding but weak and watery. And final bill after our 2 hour and 45 hour dinner was still $ 60 bucks a person, not cheap, and way too much to pay for such miserable service.

Not a terribly good dinner spot. The waitstaff was pleasant, but the food was strictly mediocre diner fare, and if you show up, plan to be there all night. After an hour of waiting to be served, my teenager said maybe they could just bring a random meal out and show it to us, so we could remember what food looked like. When supper was eventually served, it was lukewarm, and fairly pedestrian. I am happy to report that the blueberry buckle, at least, was top notch. And the view was good. And they had muskets on the wall. Big fan of muskets here.

Always one of our favorite places to take visitors and family — especially when able to sit on the deck overlooking the harbor. Best view in town. Tthe lobster and crab salad melts are to die for. The chili is pretty good also. Recommend it highly.

We have been a few times and have had great service and giant portions of tasty food. Indoor and outdoor seating although I found being inside was warm as the air conditioner was not on.

I Just ate here seafood chowder and clam chowder would have been the best ever if it was hot it was just warm .then came our meal. Bake potato was like a rock, veggies medley was broccoli that I don’t eat and my husband never got his veggie. the stuffed haddock was under cook was afraid to say anything after sending my potato back. Took forever to get the check even though there wasn’t more then 10 other customer’s.finaly got our bill and was over charged. Would not ever go back or recommend this place yuck!

This place is a hidden gem! The service is extremely friendly and easy-going, and location cannot be beat. This casual restaurant has some of the freshest seafood in the area. I often order the lobster melt sandwich, but have never been dissapointed with anything I got from this menu. The view of the harbor and outer islands is stellar, and reservations for the July 4th fireworks always fill-up!

The best seafood chowder in the world, period. Loads of lobster, scallops and shrimp! It cost more than most, but you get what you pay for here, no fillers, no potatoes. No small cups and bowls; crocks or large crocks. They will bring out a nice warm loaf of bread if you ask as well.

I always stop in here when in Boothbay Harbor. First, the location is fantastic. You can sit outside in warmer weather overlooking the marina, and you can come by boat and dock outside the restaurant(I suggest calling ahead to ensure they have a spot if you plan to come by water.) The food is tasty. I usually like the fried haddock sandwich(hold the cheese, please.) About 6 years ago, I went to a rehearsal dinner here, too. It was perfect. The staff are very nice and helpful if you have questions about the menu.

We went to The Whale’s Tale after checking into our cabin for our winter vacation. The place looked wicked cozy and warm and that it was! The wait staff were extremely friendly at The Whale’s Tale and they have the most delicious scallops wrapped in bacon. I wasn’t too impressed with my boyfriends fish and chips although they are served traditionally, complete with a newspaper but the hunk of fish was simply too big for my liking. I had the seafood chowder in a bread bowl — delicious! I never get dessert when I eat out but their dessert menu was hard to refuse — we got the cranberry apple crisp with vanilla ice cream — we will probably go back for the bread pudding before our vacation is over.

I had the Lobster Special here and it was a steal! This special of the day was $ 35 and included clam chowder, a 1 ½ lb lobster, steamers, and corn on the cob. Everything was so delicious: the lobster and clams were perfectly steamed and the clam chowder was savory and authentic. They have a great patio over looking the beautiful harbor too.

My family and I stumbled on to this charming little seaside place because the boat we were going out on was docked at Carousel Marina — what a delight! We sat out on the deck and were promptly attended to by friendly waitresses who readily told us their menu faves. I tried my first lobster roll, which was good, not too buttery. I don’t know how it holds up to other lobster rolls since this was my first, but I’d definitely eat it again! My dad got the fried clam roll — which was also tasty! I may have stolen a few bites… :) They also have crab burgers(which looked AWESOME) and lots of other local fare. Check this lil gem out if you have the chance!
