I’ve had Arthur DeMello do appraisals, design settings and set various stones for about 10 years. He’s the best in the business, knows an ENORMOUS amount about various stones (will happily teach you about the gems, if you’re interested), settings, and the best ways to put them together. Our recent «project» was a year in the making, (the first time I’ve ever done anything like this) as Art located the perfect stone (at the perfect price) and then, confirmed that the designer I’d chosen had a great reputation and did top notch work. Without Art’s advice, I would have stumbled along, choosing a designer whose work was shoddy (I almost did — thank you for stopping me from doing that, Art!). Art worked with the designer I had finally selected, kept me informed about their discussions of the specifics and limitations of what I wanted, and of what was both realistic and feasible. I wanted a setting that would showcase the cut of my remarkable small stone, and Art was able to make sure that the design I’d chosen was made to his very high standards — from which Art’s clients benefit! Truly, I am so happy with the outcome, this particular ring, and all of the years I’ve worked with Art on my various pieces. He is the soul of patience — believe me, I asked a million questions, as this project continued! Art, thank you SO much for everything you did to make such a beautiful ring into a reality — it is even more wonderful than I could have envisioned! You really are THE BEST!

If you want an expert appraisal, then you best see Arthur Demello. He is efficient; a master in his field. He even traveled from his office in Boston to meet me near where I live. His report was thorough and perfect for my insurance company. I do not know how competitive his prices are. I thought the appointment and report total was fairly high, but I truly believe it was worth it. We will use Art for every appraisal in the future.
