As a singer and a guitarist, I expect a decent repetoire to be available at a music college’s bookstore. I’m guessing this book store has a limited budget, but I have to wonder, if they can afford to have so much regalia, why not keep a few books on the circle of fifths and arias around? They’re also severely understaffed and crowded.

I have to admit I maybe a bit bias because I’m a Berklee graduate but I expected much better when I came to the new Berklee Bookstore yesterday. I’m not exactly sure how recent the opening was but the store wasn’t very stocked. The store is much bigger than it use to be but it was like someone decided to keep the same amount of items and just spread them out.
I was hoping that with the addition of the extra space that there would be more of a college apparel section, lead books and, in general, everything else. I won’t doubt that the staff here is friendly and helped me find what I needed with much trouble. However, for a school that has an incredibly high tuition I expected more from the college.

Man I don’t know what everyone is whining about.
I used the bookstore in ’03-’05 and it was great. I was in there every week
Perhaps its just because I’m a piano player that they stocked so many books I would buy on impulse. The selection was incredible.
The selection of quality manuscript paper as great as well.
Prices were average and if you showed up at the wrong times during the semester. the lines were almost bigger than the store could handle.

If I was writing this more than 10 years ago (gulp. I am so ancient…). I would’ve given 1 star just like you. Poor, limited budget, stomped by boned-​in-​the-​ass outrageous tuition, over priced textbooks with no choice but having to buy them, etc… I was full of hate whenever I entered this store.
However, this place has the biggest selection on music manuscript paper (I know. It’s only 4 foot tall shelves but there aren’t any other places hold that much). Hands down. So I am giving them 2 stars.

Not a whole lot of selection. Half of the books I need for class are never in stock, and the staff are semi-​helpful. I think the place needs to be revamped.
