This was my first time experiencing rolfing. I have been to chiropractors for years and have had countless massages. I was super impressed with Joel — he was prompt to response, professional and courteous. He made me feel welcome in his space and it made for a wonderful experience. The session was beyond compare — it was a chiropractic session, massage, stretching session and yoga all rolled into one. I truly haven’t felt this good in years. I highly recommend him.(And for what it is worth, I have never felt compelled to write a review before)

Joel is a highly skilled and very perceptive therapist. I spoke to him about my issues, he listened with care, and he knew what muscles needed to be worked. I lay down on the table and I felt comfortable in his confidence. He worked slowly and intently, assessing my body, seeming actually very in tune with my body. His pressure wasn’t just delivered without thought. I always leave feeling great. I previously had some back pain issues, but after seeing Joel a few times I’ve been feeling quite well. I would definitely give him a shout to see if he could help you.

I’ve had structural issues my whole life, so I’ve had a lot of different body work from a lot of different people over the years(including several Rolfers). Let me just say, Joel is one of the very best you could hope to find! He has a very thorough understanding of body mechanics, as he was able to pinpoint which parts of my body are compromising my gait and knows what to do to get them to work properly. He’s very intuitive, and seems to know just how much pressure to use and when to use it. Where as most bodyworkers will have a conversation while they’re working on you, Joel seems hyper focused on what he’s doing… as if he’s constantly listening to your body and every tiny movement counts! Joel also took the time to write up and send me a great home routine for me to do on my own. The stretches and foam rollers he recommended are still keeping me going months later. In short, Joel is extremely skilled and genuinely cares about his clients. He did more for my body in a few months than 2 years of physical therapy. If I were still living on the East Coast I would be booking sessions with him on the regular… I really can’t recommend him enough!

I had the most incredible rolfing sessions with Joel over 11⁄2 years ago after a very bad MVA. He was so in tune with my trauma that he truly began to make me feel like a new person after my 1st session! I have had a few massages since, have been going to physical therapy, and chiropractors, but always in search for the amazing work I got from Joel. I am still in pain & have developed fibromyalgia since last seeing him. In the process of my moving, I lost track of him. One day I got a groupon notice and happily found my healer. :) I am so looking forward to beginning my interrupted journey of more healing with Joel tomorrow… more to come after tomorrow’s session

It was my first Rolfing experience. Joel seemed to have intuitive sense for those areas that were tense; he worked slowly, carefully, and super professionally to relax those areas, going deeper into the muscle/fascia than any other body worker I’ve known. This was an experience that left me energized, relaxed, and excited to return on my next trip to Boston!

I always wanted to try Rolfing but never had the chance. Having done 2 sessions with Joel, I am very glad that I am doing it with him. Joel is very sensitive and attuned to one’s body. After his sessions I felt rejuvenated and a lot more balanced. Having had many forms of massage before and having practiced internal martial arts and yoga for many years, I have not encountered many people with his level of sensitivity.

Joel is incredible. I was a bit apprehensive at first but relax and allow Joel to work his magic and you will be amazed with the results.

While preparing for a Half-Marathon I was experiencing some unusual leg pain, I tried Rolfing for the 1st time. Although I was a little apprehensive in actually seeing results, but once I left the office I was a firm believer. I felt rejuvenated and needless to say, I will be seeing Joel again. He is great and I can only say you have to try it at least once! Highest Recommendation.

I am 53 and have been a sports person all my life. In 2003 I had a serious skiing accident and since then I have seen chiropractors as well as other doctors, had acupuncture, done yoga and more. Nothing could relieve my pain. Joel did what nobody could do. With his knowledge, patience, care and with the passion for what he does, I am PAINFREE! If you have tried it all, and ready to give up, try Rolfing with Joel, you will not regret it. Also, his office is very neat, cozy as well as centric and with the positive ambiance it all adds to the healing process.

I recently bought a Groupon for Rolfing with Joel, as I was trying to get back in shape and having all sorts of low-back/hip pain that didn’t feel like normal recovery. In the 2 or three weeks between buying the Groupon and actually going to see Joel, I totally messed myself up with a combination of weight-lifting with an enthusiastic trainer, chiropractic, a bad massage that only made things worse, plus sleeping 4 nights on my sofa while my mother visited. By the time I got to Joel, I could not bend forward without severe pain, nor could I stand up, or lay down. I considered canceling my first appointment, but I was so desperate, I went just to see what he might be able to do, and because I felt it couldn’t get any worse. Being injured already, and somewhat defensive about the sore areas, I wasn’t sure if I should trust this new person right away. I had heard about Rolfing, but never tried it. Furthermore, as I rambled on about what hurt and how much, Joel kept telling me to just relax and breath, so I was a little aprehensive and not sure if he was listening. After about 2 minutes on the table though, I knew I was in good hands. Joel applies his method very intuitively applying pressure very gradually. By the time I left that Thursday, I was able to touch my toes again! I took it easy that weekend and went back on Tuesday. By then, my hip and back were starting to act up again. I was having trouble lifting my leg to put on trousers or step over the side of my bathtub. Again, Joel targeted the problem area and 95% of my mobility returned by the end of our session. In the long run, I’m probably going to need some physical therapy to cure the weakness that is causing this chronic problem, but, on the way to that, Joel’s technique addresses my issue a million times better than any massage therapy or chiropractic I’ve had. For anyone who has never tried rolfing, it sometimes involves some deep work around the stomache just above or below the ribs and hips. It can be a pretty intense feeling, not really painful, but unusual. It is well worth it though, in my experience.
