I’m a long-time fan of this seafood place inside of Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It is terrific. Get the steamed lobster with drawn butter and enjoy. It is quick and no-fuss meal or snack. The lobster is fresh and brightly colored. The staff is efficient and quick. The initial quote of a price might induce sticker shock, but for what you get, it is a good value.

Fun location in Quincy Market with stools to sit directly at the bar. Great service.(William has been there for 31 years and so wonderful.) Quality food, but a little pricey.

Came here to pick up some seafood for dinner since the stand next to them had an extremely long line and wait for their food, so I came over to Boston Chowda Co. instead(they were assisting only 1 other customer before me). I ordered the combination of a cup of New England style clam chowder and a lobster roll with lobster and melted butter. That was $ 24. Add a couple of more dollars for bevarage and tax, and I spent about #$ 30 here. Was the food worth it? Not really. Chowder was tasty, as well as the lobster roll. Question is «where’s the lobster»? For $ 24, it was a rather measly portion. Obviously, they opted to cut portion sizes rather than raising price. Still it seemed to be a bit overpriced for what I ordered. From now on, during my future visits to Boston, I’ll have to make sure not to get food from a «tourist trap,» like this one(and perhaps everyone in Quincy Market).

My friends didn’t like it as much as I did. They said the lobster meat was overcooked and the toast too oily. We had the buttered lobster toast for $ 19+. Small sitting area. There was a cockroach on one of the seats.

Stopped in with my daughter while she was giving me a tour of Faneuil Hall. We only had raw oysters but they were excellent. Service was prompt and polite(though a little too much political talk). The oysters were shucked in front of us and were fresh, cold and delicious. The only thing that kept this from being 5 stars was the size of the oysters… a tad on the small size. I grew up in the south and DEEP south and have always eaten Gulf oysters, which I love. These were so much better. And to those belly-achers who gripe about«tourist traps» and getting ripped off, I have a suggestion. Stay home.

Devoured the swordfish kabob with rice and clam chowder… so delicious for words to describe it! The fish is moist and juicy it melts in your mouth!

Yes, it’s 5-yelp starts for Boston & Maine Fish Company. Yes, 5-stars, because I know fresh seafood when I taste it and I loved the service at the bar where the lobsters are cooked. Like any tourist from around the world, I walked in Quincy Market on a mission to find something good to eat. I needed good food, served fast, because my next sightseeing walking tour was going to start within an hour. I chose Boston & Maine Fish Company, because the seafood looked fresh. The line to the walk-up counter was long, which was an indicator that the food had to be good. I also noticed that the guy steaming the lobsters was fast. He handled multiple orders from the bar and from the walk-up counter with ease. I squeezed in to grab one of the seats at the Lobster bar. It was a tiny dining area and we were sitting elbow to elbow, but I was okay with snug dining. LOL. Perched on the wall was the menu. The market price for a whole steamed lobster and an ear of corn. It looked like the lobster was probably about 2 pounds. A single Lobster Roll was about $ 15 and the combo with chips and a soda was about $ 16. A trio of oysters or clams from Massachusetts was $ 7. I settled for the Lobster Roll and the oysters, because when in New England you have to eat a Lobster Roll. The order of oysters was to know what they taste like since they were farm raised in Massachusetts. As I predicted, my order arrived in a matter of minutes, because the guy behind the Lobster Bar is fast! I’m so embarrassed to say that this was my first Lobster Roll outside of California, but it was. The Lobster Roll that I had at Boston & Maine Fish Company was quite good! I like the mayonnaise and the sweet lobster meat together. It had the right amount of mayo. The bread was good too, but it would be better if it were toasted to add a bit more contrast to the creamy texture of the lobster with mayo. The squeeze of lemon added a touch of acidity that this sandwich needed. I watched the guy prepare of oysters that I ordered. He shucked the oysters with lightening speed and cleaned them up real good. I ate one of them, it was definitely fresh. Oysters from the east coast are much more meatier than their counterparts in the west coast. They don’t taste gritty either. The oysters were very good. I made it in time for my walking tour after a quick lunch. Quincy Market is a nice foodie destination in Boston. Yeah, it’s a tourist trap, but it does have plenty of dining options to choose from. Boston & Maine Fish Company was a great option among the many eateries inside Faneuil Hall. The seafood is fresh and the service is fast.

Pass on and keep walking. I should have known based on the fact they had no line and five feet away another place did. The food is below average. They also said I couldn’t sit down at there seating because I didn’t get alcohol. Really? I just spent $ 18 on a crappy lobster roll, I’m sitting down to eat it. Just sit if they give you trouble, they can’t do anything about it but would recommend to keep going on.

Fairly priced with lots to eat. I had clam chowder(tasty but could have used more clams) with a steamed lobster(cut up sooo nicely it was EASY to get the meat) and corn on the cob. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst either for a chick trying to get one more quick fix before leaving Boston.

Us tourists keep getting fished by this market place! But it’s okay, we’re doomed to be trapped, gypped and broke when on vacation. The steamed lobster from this joint was decent. Sitting at the booth was fun, we got to watch the lobster master chef prepare live and steamed lobsters in front of us. The corn that comes with the lobster tasted like a boiled plastic water bottle — tasteless(hopefully, it’s because the corn’s sweetness seeped into the lobster meat). The bacon wrapped scallops was my favorite! It came with a bed of rice. Bacon cures everything — there was a generous portion of it presented on a skewer(about 4 wraps of it per skewer). The fresh oysters here weren’t bad. Avoid the clam chowder at all cost unless you’re into tangy/sour-tasting chowder. We were too anxious when we saw our food so we didn’t question the chef about it. The cups of chowder we had was definitely a bit sour tasting — shouldn’t be like that right? Either the clam or cream had gone bad or something! Looking back on pictures, the chowder did appear to look a bit spoiled. It was seriously the worst cup of clam chowder I’ve tasted. My friend noted that even Yoshinoya’s clam chowder tasted 10x better than the one we had here. Luckily, we are all healthy and alive after having the clam chowder here. No public restrooms were harmed.

They have a lot of options, so I’m sure that people will find something they like there. I had the Clams Casino. It was okay, but I’ve definitely had better. They people there were very helpful, though.

Fantastic Lobster Roll and Clam chowder. Lobster very fresh and clam chowder is rich, thick with chunks of fresh clams that’s not over cooked. I came back to this place two days in a row. Only negative is quite expensive but I’d rather pay a but more for good food than have bad food for cheap.

Another tourist trap disappointment. One of the worst lobster roll I have had despite paying 16 bucks for that small lil s’wich. I had already set my expectations low given the tourist fanfare flocking in Quincy however never expected the lob roll to be that big disaster. The lobster roll at NYCs Luke lobster is 10x better than here. The savior was the oyster shell filled crispy oyster meat mixed with batter(sorry I forget the name), it was really tasty and flavorful. The clam chowder was similar to one I find in any NYC deli. Verdict– avoid if you can

I come to this place overtime we have guest because it is convenient. The rolls taste good and the chowder is great! However my only issues are the bread is not toasted and there is too much bread.

Lobster roll is big and have lots of lobster inside. I wish the bread is roasted with butter that would be great! Overall very fast and attentive service, just the sitting area too tight.

Sampled the lobster roll here, and was definitely underwhelmed. The bread got super soft and soggy, so the roll had to be eaten with a knife and fork. The lobster also tasted pretty underseasoned, when I bit in, the overwhelming flavor was the mayo. Not too impressed.

I ended up picking this place over the endless clam chowder options in the marketplace because they had gumbo-and I was trying to decide between the two. They ended up letting me taste both so I ended up with the clam chowder. The gumbo tasted a bit too tomato soupy for my tastes. I got a size small, which was good because I got full and could not even finish that. It was around $ 6 for that size which is pricey, if you ask me. Having tried my friend’s clam chowder from another location in the marketplace, this clam chowder had less clams and was a lot creamier. My friend’s had more flavor, but I’m not a huge fan of clam so somehow it worked out, though I regretted my decision to buy it from here.
