Smart people. 10pm mass. Right on. Comedian Daniel Tosh actually addressed the lack of «young people» going to church these days when I saw him at the Berklee Center last week. HELLO! Do you really expect the party harty crowd to get up at 7, 8, 9 am on a Sunday after they just zombiely walked into their dorm room 2 – 3 hours prior to mass time?
So two enthusiastic thumbs up for 10pm. They also have a 12:30pm and 6pm, but this place gets packed at 10. It’s a pretty strange sight to me, considering I went to an arts school where the film kids thought they were gods and could care less about church. The mass itself is great when there’s music. A few singers and sometimes student musicians (I’m guessing). Sans music, it’s just ZzZzZzZzZ. They don’t have kneelers or mass books (probably to save money?), but song sheets are available to pick up at the beginning of mass. Because of the general audience, the homilies are generally interesting and not too «thou hast» blah bloo blah.
A few non BUers go to mass here (I’m not an alum), so don’t be shy about stopping by. Just watch the BU seal on the way out. those who walk through it without a care are not undergrads. heh Note: This place is literally right in front of BU Central. Also, check the phone number or website between semesters because the masses depend on when classes are in session.
