I love Mediterranean food and this is as good as it gets. Had the lamb and beef burger plate today and it was to die for. They put out samples of dips with chips while you wait and the service was fast. Definitely a new staple lunch stop.

I tried Café Med out quite a few times when it first opened but something always seemed off. Either the chicken was dry or it was obvious the staff had no clue what they were doing. I just tried it again and it was the same deal. Rice tastes like butter(nothing else), olives were cold to the point of being frozen solid, and the staff acted like it was their first day on the job. This place has a lot of potential because the food is sometimes quite good but I don’t think I’ll be going back with other options in the area.

I love this place, the food is made from scratch every morning and you can taste the difference. Everyone is really nice that works there, they go out of their way to make sure every customer is taken care of. I’m vegetarian and they asked me what else I’d like to see on the menu :) I’m so happy this place is in Back Bay, affordable, healthy and delicious!

great service, friendly staff and yummy healthy Mediterranean food. I tried the lamb souvlaki, chicken souvlaki, chicken dish with rice and most importantly the spanakopita which was HEAVENLY. Will def go again and again!

It reminded me of new era restaurants in Athens! Cool interior design, great variety and many of the favorite Greek dishes, and everyone there is very friendly and fast! And the bonus: instead of CD or radio, an amazing musician played mpouzouki at the background during lunch. A must go!

I really like Café Med. I waited a while to write a review for this place because there were claims of inconsistency and bad service. Whenever this is the situation I like to get a good sample size before putting my thoughts online. I have been here for lunch several times at this point and it’s always been very consistent for me. They don’t offer a lot of options, which I personally think is great, but what they do offer is fantastic. Everything is made very quickly, I’ve never waited more than 5 minutes. The Gyro Plate is definitely the way to go, or if you are slightly less hungry the Lamb Slouvaki is a great option.

This review is for a quick espresso($ 1.75 single) and slice of baklava($ 3.75) just before lunch time. Espresso was great — the only downside was the fact that it was served in a paper cup. I would definitely stop in here for a quick coffee or espresso when passing through the St. James Arcade to get out of the biting winds of the back bay. Baklava was dry — but large-sized for the price. On Fridays, Café Med offers free baklava with the purchase of lunch or breakfast item(until the end of 2015). We arrived at 11:30am with no wait, but the line snaked out the door and down the hall by noon so beware if you’re looking to grab a quick lunch to go. There was ample seating inside for about 20 people, including comfortable tables to sip your espresso.

This place is wonderful! The food is great and the staff is warm and welcoming. I’m actually here right now and there’s a dj here for Halloween and free baklava!

Had a sandwich from Subway yesterday and it was better in every way. Got the falafel roll up. Stale bread, bad hummus, tasteless tomatoes and mediocre falafel. Lowest score I’ve given a place. Boo!

The food is so fresh and delicious! The roll-ups are the best with very great meat! And they have such great staff, both the workers and the chefs are so welcoming and sweet! The atmosphere is very cozy and warm. I’m definitely coming back!

Since Steve’s Greek on Newbury Street closed down, I’ve been looking for a good classic gyro in the Back Bay. Yesterday I found it at Café Med on St. James Street — between Stuart and Boylston first block of Back Bay. You can get the gyro sandwich in a fat, warm pita bread with tzatziki sauce and vegetables or as a meal with rice and salad. It really is good. The café is small and usually crowded at lunch time.

Café Med is super convenient and has delicious, fresh food. I’m obsessed with the Greek salad, which has spicy chicken, feta, olives, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onions, and Greek dressing — I probably have it once a week at least. The Gyros and platters look excellent as well. It’s a bit pricey — $ 10 for a salad, however, the salad is very fresh and very filling. They frequently run out of chicken(I don’t understand how a lunch joint can routinely run out of meat BEFORE the noon lunch rush), and it’s not the fastest so not great when you’re in a rush(i.e., most recently, they started to make my salad and THEN told me they ran out of meat and I’d have to stand around waiting for the next batch came out).

So, I actually like the food here. I was really looking forwarding to getting a gyro roll up today for lunch and just running back to my desk to lunch and work. The gyro I got yesterday was on point, so naturally I expected today’s gyro to be on point. Hugely disappointed. The contents were all disproportionate. The roll up fell apart as soon as a got to my desk and made a huge mess and really… that is the last thing I need during my work day. I think the guy they have in the kitchen is an idiot and just does whatever on a whim whenever he feels like. Today I had french fries in the gyro? WAYY too much tzatziki sauce and large chunks of onions. This was not all all like the great gyro I had last week made by the SAME guy.

I love authentic Greek food, and this place kills it! They made me a special greak salad, with Lamb and Chicken kabobs that was amazing! Grape leaves were perfect. I’m very happy I stumbled on this place!

Don’t write too many reviews but thought I would take the time to give this place a great rating. I work in the area down the street & recently discovered this strip of restaurants in the area. Café Med is a great & affordable option for lunch. The portions are more than enough for around 7 dollars. It also has the benefit of being one of the few Mediterranean food places in the area & the only one I know if that I can grab a quick 20 – 30 minute bite for lunch that is walking distances from Newbury/Boylston. I usually go after the 12 – 2 lunch rush around the area so I usually go in, make my order & have my food in well under a minute. During the lunch rush, I’m not sure how it looks but usually places around the area during this time can see waits being 5 or more minutes. The food is hot(depending on what you get) & fresh, which is amazing to have during the day rather than a Sub or Hamburger from a fast food chain at about the same cost. It’s a small operation. Usually only see a single individual working the kitchen, an employee working the line along with a manager helping out. The staff that I have dealt with is awesome. The food taste great. & the price is right. Highly recommend this place for the Chicken & Rice plate w/a Salad. Will be a place that I frequent when I get a chance to step out for lunches.

Excellent, very authentic food, but the place fails to deliver. Slow service and a horribly coordinated staff fumbling around like it’s their first day on the job results in ridiculous wait times, both to place an order and to recieve it. I just waited 25 minutes for a hot dog, I kid you not. It’s a shame, because, again, the food is great. It would be a great restaurant, too — if only they could serve like one… As it is, I’d go somewhere else.

Ok food, but will not go back until they get organized. 1. Be consistent with lunch meals. Sometimes my falafel combo comes with rice, sometimes no rice and all salad. Which one is it. 2. STOPRUNNINGOUTOFCHICKEN, SALAD, or other meat in the middle of the day. Happens a few times a week ever since they opened. 3. I just left after waiting 10 minutes in the line that wasn’t moving at all.

Went to stop by for lunch because the special said lamb with rice! Went into the shop and they informed me they were out of both rice and lamb… its 12pm on a busy lunch day and you are out of your entire special and have only chicken left to server over salad. I am honestly not sure how this place stays in business.

I stopped in on a whim one day as all the other lunch establishments in the building had unreasonably long lines, and I was quite pleased. I went for the Falafel/hummus/grape leaves Plate thing, and it was well worth the 7ish dollars I spent. Their falafel sealed the deal for me: crispy(not stale) on the outside, fresh and soft on the inside, very well seasoned and delicious. Plus, I always love a place that throws in the dolma/grape leaves. In an area that’s surprisingly devoid of places like Pita or Falafel King, I think this place will make a pleasant addition to the Back Bay lunch scene.
