I was totally suckered into trying Carol Ann’s Bake Shop because it was so adorable. Carol Ann’s is located inside Faneuil Hall Market place. They have a large assortment of desserts and treats right on the main walkway. We shared a chocolate chip cannoli. It was tasty!

I stopped at Carol Ann’s Bakeshop after work to pick up dessert. I bought an Oreo cookie cup cake for $ 3.75. It was disgusting. It was old and tasted like it had been sitting in a refrigerator for a very long time. It was so dry the whole top part of the frosting just fell off. It is businesses like this that have turned Fanueil Hall into the deserted dinosaur that it is.

This review is for the coffee only. I had a caramel latte here recently, and it was really good! The girl working here put just enough pumps of flavoring, and the drink came out perfectly. There are a few flavor options; you can see them behind the counter, up on a shelf. The price was right for what I got. I would have liked to see another staff person working behind the counter. The line was quite long, and it took a while before I got up to the counter. Bottom line: if you’re looking for a good latte in the Marketplace, check this place out!

Well, the presentation was nice but the cannoli wasn’t very good. I didn’t try anything else, but I was pretty disappointed. The staff up front wasn’t very friendly either, which was surprising since most of the places have a lot of character. They better step it up because there are a bunch of fantastic bakeries in Quincy market to choose from! However, I never regret giving the underdog a chance ;)

Great place to get a treat. I had an Oreo cupcake, and while it looked absolutely delicious, it tasted a bit dry. I give the food itself 4 stars. The staff could be a little friendlier. The two girls that were there were just on their phones until I said I was ready, then went right back on after I finished ordering/paying.

Boston crème pie(not bad, it’s just yellow cake with chocolate frosting and a basic cream. The cake was very moist and not too sweet. The crème was smooth and thankfully not overflowing; very simple but well put together)

For Half Off at the Hall, Carol Ann’s Bake Shop was offering their muffins and half-and-half cookies for half off till the end of March. Turns out you have to know this in order to get the special pricing. When I ordered my apple muffin($ 1.60 reg) I was initially told to pay the regular price. But when I asked, but isn’t it half off? I was begrudgingly quoted a price of 90 cents, then 80 cents after she punched the numbers into the register. The muffin itself looked good, but when I ate it, it was just sweet. And it kind of clumped up in my mouth as I chewed. It wasn’t bad per se, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

I went this morning to grab a little something sweet before a meeting I had in the area. I felt like the service was kind of blah and i got a cinnamon sugar flat tire. I guess I should have asked exactly what it was made of rather than assuming it was a danish. Basically it was puff pastry(the kind with shortening not butter so it leaves that terrible wax feel in your mouth) and some cinnamon and sugar on top. When i tried to break off a piece, everything just crumbled in my hands. It was almost as hard as a rock. I bit into it and it was like biting into 4 day old french bread thats been sitting on your counter for 4 days. Not a fan.

Not impressed at all. The Bavarian Cream Cake($ 4.75) was just a dense dry chocolate cake with a very thin layer of basically white icing in the middle and on the back edge with a thick layer of chocolate frosting on top. There was no true Bavarian Cream in it. And the Pecan roll was horribly dry and hard. Very disappointed. The look great in the case, but not in your hand.

I really wanted a Boston Cream Pie and they had one here — it was pretty good. The cake portion was moist and not too sweet… the cream/custard was good… the chocolate portion wasn’t that great(more sweet than chocolatey). I guess it satisfied my craving, although I wouldn’t necessarily say it was fantastic. They had a ton of other items here as well so if you are looking for something sweet, I’m sure they have it here… just not sure if it would be worth the calories.

(CHOCOLATEMOUSSECANNOLI) I have never been a fan of Cannolis… not sure why but I decided to get one when I was walking through City Hall. I see a «chocolate mousse» one so I buy it and it is absolutely delicious. The mousse is very whipped and the cannoli and crunchy. For $ 3, it’s worth it!

Located in food heaven of Fanueil Hall. This place stinks. Got an éclair and it was clearly at least a few days old. The pastry was completely hard. I am a trooper and ate it. And felt so sick after wards. A big mistake, Wifey got the black and white cookie. Or half moon depending on where you grew up. It was not very fresh and the frosting tasted like it came form the supermarket. I guess tourists really do not know the difference. If you need dessert at the Fanueil Hall go to the the cookie place.

Yuck… what has happened to Carol Ann’s? While the treats look tasty from this side of the glass, it just wasn’t worth it. My friend and I went last night, and I was entranced by the half-moon cookie with piles of frosting, and she was intrigued by the whoopie pie. Hers was dry, and mine was too. :(And what I thought was a mound of frosting was really just the mounded shape of dry cookie… a lot of frosting might have saved my $ 3 cookie. Both items tasted as though they had been out a few days…
