Charlie’s Dry Cleaners

I have no idea how good their dry cleaning service is, but I’ve been going to Charlie’s for alterations for years. In fact, I just dropped a gown there yesterday to be hemmed. The owner (an adorable and hilarious woman named Josephine who will probably outlive us all) attended to me and spent a good amount of time pinning and perfecting what will be the new hem of a dress I’m wearing to a wedding. The bottom ¹⁄₃ of the dress is chiffon, which can be a pain to alter, but I know it’s in good hands with her. For all the dresses I’ve brought there over the years, the turnaround has been relatively quick — about a week or so. The woman who mans the front desk is very sweet, too.
All in all? I haven’t had a bad experience here. Y’all should check them out!
UPDATE: Got my gown back. It’s *perfect*.

I’ve been using Charlie’s for a few years now — I’ve had suits, dresses, shirts, etc dry cleaned as well as gotten alterations. I recently sent my $ 130 blanket here to be cleaned and had the worst dry cleaning experience ever. They totally ruined it, so I went back to show them and see what they would do. They agreed that they ruined it and agreed to replace for me. Ever since then I’ve been getting the run around — they wanted a receipt for the blanket so that they could then claim it on their insurance. I explained that didn’t have a receipt because it was a gift. Now he is now going back on his word and won’t replace. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, I’m so disappointed in how he handled this error. I will not be going back ever again. Customer Beware = if they happen to ruin something expensive you will most likely be on your own!

I’ve been going to this Charlie’s Dry Cleaners location for over 3 years and it is the best dry cleaner I have had in any city. The owners and the staff are extremely pleasant and accommodating. They are also the only «green» drycleaners I have found accessible to East Boston, which I appreciate.
They are versatile in what they can offer beyond just cleaning — they are always fixing loose buttons, applying patches or other repairs to my clothes, or simple tailoring needs.
They also do pickup and delivery and have a 24 hour drop box. If you pay at the time of drop-​off, they give you a 10% discount.
