Really good sandwiches, and not a bad spot if you’re a vegetarian. Cheap beer, cozy atmosphere, but be nice to your server because the place gets busy and I’ve never seen more than 1 person working the floor. It’s cash only but there’s an ATM by the bathrooms.

All the things I adore in a dive bar. Stiff drinks, diverse décor, and stiff drinks. We did not eat, but stood next to the miniature kitchen for a bit (read the place was packed) and drooled over the food despite having only eaten. A fast hint: When you leave the restroom turn your head to the right, that is where the sink is so wash your hands! Lastly, take a look at the graphic above the kitchen service window.

What a fun place! The fun décor made it such a cozy, warm atmosphere and I would love to get back for more drinks! My only gripe is that it’s cash only, but the ATM only charged a $ 1 fee which is hard to come by these days! Next time I look forward to trying some of the food that everyone seems to love!

Am I upset I have been Boston for 6 years and did not visit Delux until yesterday? Yes. Am I hungover from Clam Slams? Sure. But this place is great. I did not try the food, but the drinks, music, staff all make this joint pretty special and I will be back. Maybe even this weekend.

Cauliflower tacos, pork belly grits, the list continues they change their menu every so often and I am always impressed. The décor is quirky and that brings some very unique charm.

There is a bar out there for every type of person. This kind of joint brings me incredible joy. Divey, a lil punk, and rock and roll, with strong drinks, and fun stuff to look at all around. One of my favorite Boston bars, I have found.

It has a neighborhood-​y feel, a pyramid of Schlitz beer cans (you can order one!), an Elvis lamp and shrine, tons of old records, string lights everywhere — what more could you want?
As others have mentioned, cash only. Cheap beer, pretty good food (I liked the grilled cheese more than the basil lasagna), and great atmosphere!

Best dive bar around. Great atmosphere and even better food. Prices are low. Food is excellent. Grilled cheese is a staple. Menu rotates monthly and everything is high quality and delicious. Pulled pork sliders were phenomenal. Warning for people looking for a typical bar: this place is Cash only and no sports on TV. They play anything from Cartoon Network to Dolly Parton reruns.

The quesadilla was decent, nothing to rave about. The salsa was really good though! My friend liked his burger.
Good neighborhood-​y spot but I’m sure there’s better things in the area to eat.
Also, no signs that it’s cash only until we got to the bill! So CASH ONLY! :)

Cant believe how awesome this place is! I say that because for being on the edge of the south end it is reasonably prices and not super modern/​fancy.
The food was AWESOME! My catfish Po’boy was everything I wanted. Four of us ate and drank all evening for a very reasonable price, couldn’t have been happier.

This is a great, hidden gem in the South End. It’s small and has a hip feel to it. The music was great and the wood paneled walls covered with old record covers and photos (including a wall dedicated to Elvis) makes for a lot of interesting décor to look at.
There’s good beer selection and good service. Quick note: this place is CA$H ONLY (though there is an ATM in the back if you forget).
I haven’t tried the food yet, though the menu looked delicious, so I’ll probably be back for it.
On busy nights, they won’t let you sit at tables if you’re not eating (or will make you give up your seat if people come in that do want to eat), but they’re up front about it ahead of time — so that didn’t bother me a bit!

We love everything about Delux. This is our favorite neighborhood bar, we send everyone we know here, and pretty consistently can order the special entrée and special drink and leave pleased. Big fan of everything they have to offer here, and have no issues coming here weekly.

Can’t comment on the food — just the cocktails and ambience. I got their one cocktail on the menu (I asked for a mojito and the waitress looked at me with disdain — I’m a snob, I admit it, okay?), and it was STRONG. I mean, I had two cocktails and I started jibber jabbering and speaking in tangents. I liked the vibe — it was sort of a hipsterish tuckaway that I would expect to find in Allston, but conveniently in the South End.
The people next to us were on a first date from an online instance (it seems like a good meeting spot for that sort of thing), and I found myself thinking that she was much more of a catch than her date. All in all, a nice place to get cozy and stop for a bite, as well as people watch/​eavesdrop on fellow diners (I guess I’m a voyeuristic snob?).
ProTip: They only take cash.

Just the right size
Just the right dive /​hipster /​trendy environment
Just the right foods for a place like this (the food is surprisingly good and simple)

And BEST of all… almost no one knows this places exists!!!

I’ve had several menu items and they are all amazing. They rotate the menu to keep it interesting. Great burgers!!! Bring cash since they don’t take cards.

Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat for dinner. This place is very cozy and quite a different feel from many other places around the South End. The place was decently crowded but we were seated right away.
To start, we went with an order of the tacos and a quesadilla. These were decent, nothing amazing (this is coming from a jaded Californian though) but I actually really enjoyed the salsa that came with them.
For our meals, we both decided to go with the chicken dish. It was a decent portion and was very «home-​style» and hearty. The flavors were good but they were very one node.
The service here was friendly and the pricing was reasonable, especially for the South End. Not a bad spot to check out if you are looking for something a little cheaper/​low key in the South End.

This is my favorite go-​to place for a low-​key dinner out. Living nearby, I’ve been too many times to count. I would be seriously devastated if this place closed. Bottom line is, for the price, you cannot get a better meal (not comparing to specialty food like pizza, sushi, thai etc). With a set menu plus a few daily specials, they serve a good variety from salads/​apps to square meals such as pastas, roasted chicken, fish, etc. and also a few mexican options (tacos, quesadillas) — I have never had a bad meal here in 4+ years, in fact, it’s quite the opposite — I am always delighted.
The ambiance is cozy, dark, hipster quirky; beer on tap; small kitchen so sometimes a wait for the food, but never feel unattended by the staff.
Bring cash, and a friend or 2. :)
