Gilt Groupe

I’m sure by now everyone knows about Gilt Groupe. It’s basically a website with amazing deals on high end products. It runs along the same vein as Ideeli, Rue La La and Beyond the Rack, just to name a few.
What everyone may not know about is the fact that Gilt Groupe also throws shopping events that you can attend in person. Holy Sample Sale Heaven Batman! My good pal Brian G. bought tickets for one of these events that went down in a warehouse in South Boston a few weeks ago.
We walked in, they checked all of our belongings, including my purse. I guess they don’t want anyone to walk away with a $ 400 skirt or anything else small enough to fit into a handbag.
Upon checking our bags we were greeted by waiters handing out mimosas. Yes please! After grabbing a cocktail Brian and I went our separate ways and delved into the madness that is a Saturday morning sample sale. Bags on this table, shoes in that corner and racks upon racks of designer clothes.
I don’t know even anyone has ever mentioned this before, but… women be crazy. Girls were ripping clothing off the racks with total disregard for the others around them. Picture hyenas after a lion has discarded a zebra carcass. The men’s side of the room seemed to be a bit calmer and I noticed that many of the floor assistants seemed to be hanging out around there where there was less chaos.
Once clothes were picked out it was time to wait in line for the dressing rooms. Yay, communal dressing rooms separated from the floor by a flimsy curtain! This is pretty standard if not better than normal sample sales. I’ve been to quite a few where women just try stuff on on the floor.
What made this the greatest sample sale ever (hello mimosas) was the salon station set up in the corner. I got my hair straightened for free and got a 20% off coupon that is good for every visit! I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the salon, but I will update the review with that info shortly.
This was a great time, and next time you see Brian G. compliment him on his hot new jacket.

Many an earned paycheck gets sucked out Thursday morning when I hear that special «ding» letting me know I can get a Sneak Peak at 1100 via my iphone. What can I say? The hottest digs at nary a better price to be found. Sadly I missed the warehouse sale (despite having bought the tickets, damn you
and my itchy «buy now» button finger.) but shant miss the next. Check it out, although they run some obscenely high prices, they do have great deals on some main stream stuff now and again. Especially if you’re not into obscure japanese trends that you probably aren’t cool enough for anyway (present company included).
