Great history with this place! We had the monster IPA and the green dragon brew(red ale) both great quality! Dark and dingy looking but it adds character to the historic vibe

Good food and friendly staff, but the place has a huge rodent problem. Seemed like they were scuttling about from all directions. The whole time I was eating I had to shake my legs to scare off any mice and kept my eyes on the woodwork where one kept poking his head out. Would be a great place if they did something to control the mice.

Had to opportunity to go here when I was in Boston for a workshop and a friend recommended it. We enjoyed the pub, they had a good selection of beers and the menu was typical pub fare. It was a rainy Tuesday night so they were not too busy so our service was quick and it was also good. I had the Shepard’s Pie and enjoyed it very much. It was the right food for the weather and it was well prepared. The potatoes on top were browned the correct amount, the gravy was the right consistently that it stuck to the ingredients, the beef was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were good. Overall a good experience I will go back to try other interesting menu items when in the area. The location was clean with a good rating and well maintained. The staff got on a table as soon as someone left.

I love this historic vibe of this place. Obviously, a great draw for tourists and locals alike. The portion sizes were huge and the prices were good. Expect to pay around $ 15-$ 20/per person. Our waitress was friendly and the decorations for Christmas set a great tone. The French fries are delicious and the Reuben tasted like your standard Reuben. Only real complaint is that the fish and chips were a bit soggy and there was a slightly foul odor(wet dog like) when we came in.

Green Dragon is one of the oldest bars in America, a la Paul Revere and Sam Adams chatted away discussing Revolution plans from this bar. While this bar has obviously been renovated since the late 18th century, it has done a good job preserving its history and taking pride in its history(unlike Bell in the Hand, right nextdoor, which has basically become a 21st century sports bar).

Always friendly staff. Great beer offerings and always an available seat. Off the beaten path a bit for all foot traffic but well worth the stop in!

Green Dragon is a great place in Faneuil Hall to grab drinks on a Saturday — you may find your next favorite cover band! We danced all night to the group and honestly each song was a hit. From 80’s favs to new things, we knew each one. Drinks were solid(g&t’s) and it wasn’t insanely crowded, just the right amount. Lost point for bouncer letting all his friends in before us :(Maybe next time we’ll get special treatment ;)

Warm, welcoming atmosphere– heart beef stew with warm crunchy bread and a great beer– what’s not to love? This intriguingly historic tavern was everything I could have hoped for on a chilly, dark evening. The beef stew had a rich savory sauce with large pieces of tender beef and vegetables. The bread was warm and delightfully crunchy with a soft interior– perfect with a pat of butter to mop up the stew broth. All that paired with a limited edition Samuel Adams red lager made for a meal to remember. This is a definite destination when on Boston!

As an American History buff I absolutely had to make a short stop at the Green Dragon Tavern while in Boston for work — the location was the site of many Revolutionary era gatherings of the Patriots who forged our nation. The Tavern is right on the Freedom Trail, and thus a perfect stop for a pint after touring Paul Revere’s House and the other wonderful stops on the trail. Inside, the joint has a gritty and historical feel to it that really makes you feel like you’re at a pub in Boston — which, who wouldn’t want to be? My bartender was very nice while also being really knowledgeable about the bar and area, which was a cool bonus — overall very authentic and indie feeling to the place. I only had a bowl of clam chowder here but damn it was good and the other food options also looked great so it seems to be a good stop for both lunch or a pub-y dinner.

You can never be sure how truly historical any place in Boston is, since I’m sure that they all try to sell themselves as such. But nonetheless the Green Dragon Tavern is on the freedom trail, and it has some cool artifacts inside. Live music seems to be a big thing around here, and the Green Dragon was no exception. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have music training so that I could enjoy it as much as the next person. Those damn acoustic guitar pickups just sound so god-awful — and every wannabe troubadour uses them. I realize that it’s more convenient than a microphone, but seriously guys — do you not realize how they destroy the natural acoustic sound of a guitar. I digress. The Guinness was solid. The Curry Fries were pretty decent. But the decorations and«look and feel» of the place was really what bumped this one up for me. I think it’s worth a visit if you find yourself in Beantown.

Okay, firstly, we are not about to give anything other than a great review to this place for the simple fact that they found a lost passport from our party and we were able to pop in out of hours the next day to pick it up. Life savers. Secondly, if you lose your passport at a bar you may have a horrible morning, but you probably have had a good night! The band was playing up a storm, there was a really good party vibe, and drinks flowed freely. Inside may look like any other pub around Boston, but we had a real good time.

TOURISTSBEWARE!!! AVOIDLIKETHEPLAGUE. My wife and I are out on vacaton and ordered two beers here, she got the Green Dragon Ale. Arrived light and fizzy and not tasting ale like at all. We know our beer. When I asked the bar man if it was the correct beer(tasted like Bud Light) he said, «If I can be honest with you, its Coors Light». I asked why they would do that and he replied, «TORIPOFFTHETOURISTS». I asked to exchange the beer and he refused me. You’ll notice that Coors Light is not one of the taps they have at the Green Dragon so if you want it you’ll have to order the«Green Dragon Ale«and pay 6 bucks. Or go to somewhere else that appreciates your business. They dont.

Amazing pub in Downtown Boston near Faneuil Hall. This is a great place for beer, liquour, and good food! Try the curry fries, they’re very good, great flavor and perfect for sharing. The chowder is also great, not like most, but great interpretation. Plenty of local beers and liquour available and re staff are very friendly and helpful. Live music often adds to the charm of this historic pub!

Omg I am just back from my amazing dinner in the green dragon tavern!!! My servers were Gemma and Cliona! They were extremely busy tonight and managed to handle the night really well between them! Our app of the combo platter came out immediately and the girls checked on us and got us extra drinks etc. I found that the girls knew what they were talking about in the recommendations that they gave; food and drink wise! I would not hesitate to come back to this brilliant bar! Happy with the food and service! Our Entrée was beautiful of lobster and bbq wrap! Really filling, would totally recommend these as they are so gorgeous! The fact that this bar has the old tavern tours and its own pilsner of Green Dragon Brew is amazing! Unique, easy to drink, light and summery beer! Fabulous!!!

I’ve come here off and on for years, usually with a group of friends to get drinks on a Sunday afternoon at the bar. But today was the first time in a long time that I’m posting a bad review. My two friends and I visited on a Sunday of what would be Memorial Day weekend. Understandably, the place is going to be very busy with a lot of tourists. Naturally they’ll want to come to a historic joint like Green Dragon Tavern, a very influential place in history where guys like Sam Adams were discussing the Revolution. We chose here because of its historical significance and to enjoy a drink. My friends and I are a low key sort. We don’t have many needs. We wanted to get a couple drinks and some appetizers. Naturally the place was busy and the wait staff was attending to everyone. We put in our order, which were for beers while a friend and I ordered appetizers, which weren’t terribly complicated. I ordered nachos without meats and my friend ordered a relatively simple appetizer that I can’t recall. 10 minutes becomes 20 becomes 40 minutes. I’m not a cook. I don’t work in a restaurant. I won’t purport otherwise, but I did see the place at one point, become half empty. I’ll say that 40 minutes for friggin’ nachos is inexcusable and ridiculous. Our waiter apologized and said that they had a party of 20 people. I actually think that was crap. GDT is a small bar and I didn’t see this illustrious 20 anywhere in the place. He assured us our order was coming out right away during this apology, of which 10 more minutes passed and we saw nothing, hence the 40 minutes to have nothing but beers. Suffice it to say, my friend and I were unhappy. We politely informed our waiter that we were declining the food and would pay for our drinks. He obliged and walked away while ignoring me when I tried getting his attention to get change for my money. We then just paid for what we had and settled for Panera Bread around the corner, an even more packed place that got our order ready in less than 10 minutes. I was disappointed in this place and can say without the shadow of a doubt, that I won’t be going there, and if I do, it certainly won’t be involving food. I will also say as a big craft beer geek who loves to try house beers anywhere, that they’re Green Tavern Brew, is a fancy way of saying it’s just Coors Light with a different name. It’s not as cool as it seems. It’s just a notch on my Untappd app. Go to Panera Bread. They may not have nachos but at least they’re efficient and could probably cater to you, your friends and a party of 20.

Came here for a drink just to day that I shared a drink with friends at the place considered to be the headquarters of the revolution. The actual location of the Green Dragon Tavern was close by but not actually in the place where this tavern stands. The place is decorated as if it was back in the 1700’s and does have that nostalgic feel to it. We came here after dinner so we did not try any of the food. All in all it was a decent bar that I would consider a «dive bar» based solely on the décor.

Nice location, awesome history of the tavern so its cool to stop by. Plates are so big! We only had things like nachos and chicken wings so they all taste the same to in every place but the dishes other people other looked awesome. Very friendly staff I would absolutely come back. Prices are very reasonable cause of sizes.

This was a very nice tavern in Boston, one of the originals to the city. The bartender was real nice and gave me good ideas on which beers to choose, which helped both my wife and I. The place looked busy from the outside, but there were tables to sit at in the back and we made our way to them and sat down prior to heading back to the train station and back to Providence. Would I come back here, yes, but I’d want to try other bars as well. There are many good places in Boston, you just have to find the right one for you and you will be happy with that choice. I don’t always worry about what others say about a place, it’s up to me if I like it or not and this place I definitely liked.

A place rich in history. Food rich in meh. They do have some alcohol not commonly found in the area, including Brugal 1888 for something like $ 8. They also had all of the common Johnnies. I did try the shepherd’s pie skins. You do get a lot of potato, which personally for me isn’t a bad thing, but the filling wasn’t much to write home about. That, and they could have scooped out more potato and fried it a little more to make it closer to a skin. Bartender was good, letting us try a couple beers before buying a full one. Overall, not exactly a spot I’ll be missing when I’m home in NJ.
