This is just a review on their food. Came here with my family for phở. Not a big fan of the broth, because it was oily. The chicken didn’t taste fresh either. Haven’t tried everything on their menu, so it’s quite possible that other dishes are good. This place is very reasonably priced, if they don’t do too much oil for their phở broth and if their poultry was fresh, I would definitely change my review to a 4 or 5. This place has a great reputation for making smoothies or bubble tea. I’ve had their drinks before and like it, but I’m not so sure about the food. Will visit later to see if anything changes.

I’be been a patron of Dong Khanh for 20 years now, and I can tell you they never disappoint. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. I get the Phở Satay, and it is always fresh and flavorful. They are always my first choice when I want Vietnamese food!

Five stars and Thumbs up for their food and drinks though! I give this place 4 stars bc cash only I had to go to the Santander bank next door and décor and look could be more appealing but I guess that’s what we can expect from the authentic spots like this. Every time I visited Boston I’ve been taken here for their Fresh fruit shakes and bubble tea. I’ve had their mango, jackfruit, honeydew, green apple green tea and all were just perfectly made to order. This time I got to eat their food. I couldn’t find my go to phở fave on their menu — grilled pork phở but I asked and they delivered. Still on the bone marinated pork chops over the steaming hot noodle soup was exactly what I was craving. Very quick service.

This review is for the bubble tea only, not for the food. This place has the best bubble tea in Boston. Every time I come here I get the red bean coconut shake with boba($ 4.25 for a small), which is a little bit of heaven on earth. I love how they make the shake with ice cream and real red beans instead of flavored powder. The drink is creamy and refreshingly delicious, with a strong flavor of fresh red bean. The avocado shake is good as well — very creamy with a strong avocado flavor. This shake was a little bit too rich for me and I didn’t end up finishing all of it. They also serve a variety of Vietnamese food. I have tried their lunch specials but didn’t find the food to be especially amazing. 5 stars for the bubble tea though!

Service is fine(prompt, polite) and probably slightly better than what you’d expect from a Chinatown restaurant. Review entirely on food — and maybe I’m harsher because I grew up eating Vietnamese food. Overall, dishes were fine, but my main problem is that I think they dilute the great flavors of fish sauce/vinegar etc that’s typical in traditional dishes Meh — I’m not mad, but I wouldn’t come back GOICUON — Vietnamese Summer Rolls — nothing notable. If I was being nit picky, the transparent rice wrapper definitely wasn’t as soft and delicate as it should be which indicates lack of total freshness. The dipping sauce is pretty much straight up hoisin and normally it’s a hoisin-peanut-y blend GOIGA — shredded chicken salad — a bit skimpy on the chicken, but the veggie mix was good. Really wish it had a more vinegar/fermented flavor that goi is known for BUNTOMTHITNUONGHEO — vermicelli noodles with shrimp + bbq pork — shrimp was perfect, but the bbq pork(and the nuoc mam!) could have been more flavorful

Yep this place is good. Not even going to bother wasting time with tons of words. Bottom line is that it’s really good here and I like the atmosphere and staff. After being both annoyed and disappointed at Phở Pasteur nearby, this place made me feel better about the phở options near me when I don’t have the time or energy to travel aaaall the way down the red line for good phở. Check it out. Not bad at all.

New Dong Khanh is my new go-to place for Vietnamese! Forget Phở Pasteur, this is the place to be. For $ 7.95 you get an XL sized bowl of delicious phở, The broth was hearty and it came with a lot of noodles and beef strips. And then for $ 3.95, you get two excellent spring rolls with meat in it. The driedn oodles with BBQ pork(also $ 7.95) was SO good. Its Vietnamese name is mi kho suong nuong. I also tried the bubble tea since everyone raved about it and it’s really as good as Cha time or any other famous bubble tea shop! Even though it was snowing out the crowd just kept coming right on in for bubble tea. Service is quick and the place is very clean. Would highly recommend if you’re craving authentic Vietnamese fare in Boston. Only downside is CASHONLY.

Great food, poor service. Quality of the ingredients are great. Phở: soup is a great oily and semi-clear. Ratio of meat and noodle is on par. rice noodles were great. Fried rice: rice was perfectly cooked… chewy and plump. perfect amount of oil and saltiness. Service sucked. No sauces offered for my to-go fried rice. was at the cash register to pay… two people at the front, but was oblivious to me standing there… waited 5 min to finally get their attention as one was busy watching and flipping through the tv channels, while the other was on their cell phone. c’mon…

When recently in Boston my husband looked at me and said«I want some real deal whole in the wall food in Chinatown». PF Changs ain’t gonna cut it with this guy, so as we hopped on the T to Chinatown we both pulled up Unilocal and started searching. This place had the most consistent and thoughtful reviews so we had to make the stop. When you first enter the restaurant you have two options: wait to be seated(there is no sign but someone will be with you shortly) or order something at the counter. Most people using the counter are just picking up a fruit shake or bubble tea so if you’re looking to dine in wait to be seated. Although we came during a heavy lunch period, we were sat a cozy table within two minutes. The menu has someone for everyone. Your friend who thinks Panda Express is «real good» will find something, along with your adventurous spouse who wants something he can’t get anywhere else. You’ll please everyone here! We started with some egg rolls and fried wontons. Both were just really excellent! I highly recommend the 55– beef phở. Oh man was this out of this world tasty! With a little mint, lime and hot sauce I was face first in that bowl for a good 20 minutes and still couldn’t finish it! My husband ordered phở ga and I didn’t hear any complaints in between the satisfied slurps! He washed it down with an avocado/coconut shake and was in heaven. After feeling stuffed and satisfied, I was even happier to see the check was less than $ 30 for the two of us!

A pleasant surprise in Chinatown! 5⁄5 for the price and food. I was craving for something soupy/brothy and also wanted to check out the Chinatown in Boston. New Dong Khanh was definitely a solid choice. The portions are big and worth your money. I originally came here to order phở, but due to the extensive menu, I decided to try something less ordinary. I had the lemongrass grilled pork over lo-mein noodles with cilantro, green onions and fried shallots. This dish came with a soup on the side. This was absolutely delicious! YUM! In austin, we have regular phở houses, but they don’t make a dish like this. We also had the lemongrass chicken on rice. Big juicy & flavourful drumstick. Overall food was great, servers were OK. In all, I would come back again. PS. Cash only. Found that most places in Chinatown & The North End(little italy) are cash only.

I had phở le xua and porkchop dish. Phở was really good. I liked how it didn’t taste like it had a lot of msg. It had very clean and flavorful taste. It was enough to be shared by 2 people. The porkchop dish was really good also. However, porkchop did look a little small. I guess I can’t really complain because it’s like $ 7. Their smoothie bubble tea is a MUST! I highly recommend kiwi. The service is great. They really try to accommodate to the customer’s needs. I would definitely visit here again!
