DONOTGOHEREIFYOUHAVE A STRONGPRESCRIPTION… The owner will lie and do anything to make a sale. I have a very strong prescription and the owner, Michelle told me that she could do a great job on my glasses. I went to pick up my glasses and they were so thick that the GLASSESWERENOTABLETOBEFOLDEDUPANDPLACEDIN A CASE! Can you imagine any legitimate optometrist presenting a client with $ 714.00 Dollar glasses that you cannot fold and place in a case to travel with? Not only could I not fold these glasses, but the owner also put a large piece of foam on the frame so they would not scratch. Did she actually expect me to wear these glasses in public? I then asked her about a different frame and stated that there was nothing that could be done as every frame would be the same. I took the glasses to the office of Dr. Korb who is a leading optometrist around the country in fact Michelle was a student of his many years ago. His office told me that she should be ashamed to expect a client to take glasses that could not be closed. I immediately returned the glasses to Q Optical and the owner is now refusing to give me my money back and I do not even have the glasses in my possession. I plan to file a complaint with MA Attorney General and I will take this owner to small claims court if I have to, to get my money back. I have a letter from Dr. Korbs office and photos of these eye glasses showing how pathetic they were. I just wish that owner Michelle was an honest business woman and had just told me that my prescription was just too severe for her lab to handle, but instead she lied to me to make a money. Please stay from away from this shop as possible. I should not have to go through litigation to get my money back but I will.

Service is poor, owner Michelle acts like she is doing you a favor. I have many friends who do business with her so I’ve given her many benefits of the doubt but it turns out that it’s only if you like her that she gives you good service; otherwise, it’s only adequate. I finished with cliques defining how I’d be treated in high school. Works for those who can shower appropriate attention on her and her staff. Not the reviewing type of guy but the entitled sentiments she and her staff emit really got under my skin. Later.

My review has to do with customer service and adjustments. I walked in on a whim to see what the price was to get my glasses tightened as they slide forward on my nose. What was cool was that the guy behind the counter(I wish I had gotten his name to give him a shoutout but he does have a magnificent beard.) said it was no problem to adjust the tightness and did it free of charge. I offered to give a tip but he said he was happy to do it. If someone wants to do it because they like to, that’s a place I want to go to get things taken care of. Closing out, «Sold! To the man with the exceptional beard!»

I was on Newbury during the week and stopped by and saw the sign on the door because she was attending to another patient but I came back less than 30 mins later to a very helpful Dr. Q! I only wear my glasses for a few things but I’ve been wanting a new up-to-date trendy pair for a while! Buying glasses is an investment especially when you’re wearing them on your face where everyone can see them, Dr Q helped me find a great pair within my price range and that fit my face perfectly! I’m excited to wear these for more than just watching tv!

I dont know about those old reviews but I have been going there for several years and never had a problem. I have gone thru a few pairs of Eyephorics as my perscription had changed and must say that Michelle is a very good person, knowledgeable and tell’s it the way it is. She’s familiar with all the brands of frames and lenses and makes proper suggestions. They have a nice selection of trendy funky, cool quality frames and can take care of all your eye wear needs easily. Im not going anywhere else!

I stopped in on my lunch hour today to order some new prescription readers. First time in the store. I was not greeted at all. It’s a small space so it’s not easy going unnoticed. I understand the owner was helping someone with adjustments but she didn’t even look up and even acknowledge my arrival. They were both also having another convo not related to glasses. So I stood around awkwardly for longer than 5 minutes. Then I left. I work in a business a couple of stores down and we are small and we would NEVER ignore anyone that came in. No matter what we were doing. My husband and I were both looking to establish a new place for both our glasses and contacts but I’ll look elsewhere.

I have an erratic work schedule, so finding a place for a new patient after 5pm can be difficult. Dr. Q stayed late to give me an eye exam, which was much appreciated. She was generally hilarious and we traded many bad puns with one another. A+.

My initial experience with Q Optical was fairly decent, but pretty expensive(nearly $ 400 for 1 pair of glasses). The reason I was satisfied was because I was able to find a unique pair of glasses that were flattering. Dr. Q told me to come back anytime if I needed adjustments, new lenses, or anything of the sort. She was very nice. Nine months later, the glasses were broken. They had just fallen right off my face as I was sitting at a desk.(The hinge had come apart.) I visited the store a week later. There was a man behind the counter. He told me Dr. Q was out until Monday, and that they no longer carried my brand of frames(Prada). He told me, however, that Dr. Q might be able to help me on Monday. So I Krazy-glued them, and waited until Monday. Gave Dr. Q a ring, and she answered(I recognized her voice), and upon hearing my explanation, stated that she no longer carried my brand. She spoke as though she was doing me an incredible favor by speakng to me. I said, «So nothing can be done?» and she replied, «Correct.» I thanked her(to which she spat a rude«Yeah,» and hung up). For closure, I called back and left a message about their business practices. I will be going to Lenscrafters.

I read Saad’s review and thought it couldn’t be that bad, but I was not acknowledged either when I walked in the door, or 10 minutes later. The person on the phone was too busy discussing paint colors. Don’t want to give them too bad a rating, maybe i’ll try again. On the plus side, the area of Newbury Street around Q Optical smelled heavily of pot smoke. Strange.

I needed new glasses and one day Groupon was all like«Hey, TK. i heard you need some new specs. Here have this awesome deal at Q Optical.» And I was like, «Thanks for looking out for me, Groupon.» So with Groupon in hand, I ventured to Q Optical. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and was assisted by Michelle. She let me peruse the frame selection and let me try on maybe ¾ of the selection they had. In between the frames I wanted to try, she threw me some frames she thought I should consider. She laid them out and walked away. No needling, no unwanted commentary. She said if I needed any help she’d be right over there. And she was. Being the most indecisive person in the universe, I apologized six hundred times and said I still couldn’t find anything that I was in love with. Michelle to the rescue. Alright, she said to me, I know you have a specific idea of the kind of glasses you want — just try these. She handed me a pair of frames and I was sold. Tortoise shell, well fitted frames. Just different enough from what I had before. Ten minutes for paperwork and discounting and credit card swiping. Another ten for putting in lenses and fitting glasses to my face and I’m out the door with my new specs. Wins all around!

I have purchased frames from Q-Optical for over 13 years. When I first walked in their door I was sporting a hideous pair of huge glasses that did nothing for me. I walked out with a pair of cool frames and sunglasses! I have always received excellent guidance and advice in picking frames which always garnered compliments. Dr. Q — aka Dr. Michelle Quintero-Chica is the bomb — one of the friendliest, funniest, and most skilled optometrists I’ve ever met over a lifetime of wearing glasses. I still keep a collection of all the frames I have bought from Q-Optical and worn over the years: Neostyle, Calvin Klein, Persol, Alain Mikli, Lafont, 2.5 Eyephorics, Armani, LA Eyeworks — just to name a few — even traded frames with friends and family for a change of pace. I am only sad I live 3,000 miles away!
