Decent bbq. Had chopped brisket sandwich. Good smoked flavor but meat on dry side. Good sauce made it enjoyable. But pricey. Sandwich was meat and bread. I guess that’s the literal definition. But hey for $ 11 could you throw in a pickle or some other side to make the box look more appetizing. Bought Mac and cheese side. Another $ 4 for nothing special. Overall. Ok but nothing great.

Oh, this was very good. Only reason they didn’t get 5 stars is because my office is a block away and by the time I got to my desk the underside of my sandwich was so soggy it was inedible. Easy fix though so I can’t wait to go back next week.

While the food had great flavor, I feel as though the price was quite high for the quantity. The sauces are MAGNIFICENT!!! MAKESURETODOUBLECHECKYOU’VERECEIVEDEVERYTHING!!! I paid for a piece of cornbread and they forgot to put it in my container!!! Very frustrating, it felt like it should be a simple thing to remember :( Overall, give it a shot if you love good BBQ and hot sauce!!!

Food is good, portions were skimpy. Menu was also mostly crossed out with options that sounded delicious but were not available. For the $ 11 I paid for this lunch I expected more — both from their options available and the portion provided. Will probably stick to BBQ from an actual restaurant in the future.

Checked out the truck a few months back and forgot to rate it. Grab some ribs and mac and cheese, and of course cornbread. Food is pretty good. the bbq sauce wasn’t my favorite, little too much on the vinegary side as I’ve seen in other posts. Still good, and I’ll be back for more.

The best advice that I can give anyone who orders from this truck is to throw out the box away from your desk. The food smells WAY too delicious to have it sitting next to you for the rest of the day and you will get NOTHING done. I’ve been coming to this truck for a little while now and really enjoy what they have to offer. While the truck doesn’t have the giant beer mugs that the sit down restaurant in Davis Square has(my boss is probably happy about that) it offers you the same great food at a convenient location. I typically go with the pulled pork but went with the pulled chicken last time, you really can’t go wrong with either one. I throw in some mashed potatoes for a side and boom, a perfect lunch. I’d highly recommend checking out this food truck on your next lunch break! Hint: Make sure to Google the food truck schedule so you have an idea of when they will be in the area!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! No, seriously, it is that tasty! Watch your waist bands, because this unbelievably delicious food, when eaten too often, will cause your size to increase. I highly recommend the BBQ Hash. It is an explosion of delicious flavor in your mouth. Every time I eat it I think, «mmm, party in my mouth!» If you want to make your trip extra special, get the outrageous potato salad on the side. Holy cow, yum yum yum! I know that all of the m’s at the beginning may make you take this review less seriously, but after your visit and taste of the BBQ Hash you will absolutely understand the m’s. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

So, I finally saw RedBones truck outside and ordered the special of 3 ribs, pulled pork, and a side of grilled vegetables(not bad for $ 12). While the pulled pork was delicious and the grilled vegetables were good too, the ribs left something to be desired. The bbq sauce was a little too vinegar-y and didn’t cover the bland ribs enough for me to finish them. I love me some BBQ, so hopefully I will have a better experience next time.

I work in the back bay, and Red Bones is definitely the tastiest lunch option in the area. I’m so glad the city has pushed for more food trucks, cause it means I get great barbecue right next to my job. Why wait ten minutes for an overpriced grilled cheese when you can wait ten seconds for some mouth watering pulled pork?

I will admit that it is not a great value. But should good bbq be? I mean if you get good quality meat and think of the hours spent lovingly preparing and smoking it properly… well there you have it. I found the ribs tasty tender and meaty The sides are nice too. But the main thing is, it is easier for me to go and find the truck as opposed to hiking over to Somerville !

$ 9.00 for a combo that consisted of a tiny, decently flavored pulled pork sandwich and a side of flavorless cole slaw. The folks taking the order and prepping the food were nice enough, but damn. This truck is giving other food trucks a bad name, especially since they are banking on the success of their brick and mortar restaurant. Total disappointment.

I guess full disclosure first, I’m not a fan of redbones bbq to begin with… haven’t been since I was in HS and all I cared about was how big the portion is for the $ amount that I’m spending. That being said, I must’ve eaten at a different place than the rest of the reviewers. I was at the downtown truck spot and was pretty excited to get bbq, I mean who doesn’t love them some bbq? But I wish I could take it all back… the pulled pork sandwich was horrible and the cornbread was the smallest square I’ve ever seen. For $ 8, if you’re in the downtown area, go to Max’s and get the pulled pork there. you’ll get caesar and mashed and something you’d want to eat. This was not cheap, tasty or enjoyable at all.

Hefty pulled pork sandwich for only $ 6? Hell yeah. They had a few ribs left for the night, as we were there pretty darn late, and comped us two — you have to pair with the sweet sauce! Everything was deliciously juicy and smoky, I was pretty impressed, esp given that it was BBQ off a truck! In Boston, no less, not the first place I think of when I want some ribs. The sauces were really good, the guys told us it was made in shop — pair the hot with the sandwich, the sweet sauce with the ribs, and you’re set. There was a lot of traffic coming to the truck despite the late hour, and one woman who was a regular could not say enough good stuff — she said she planned which bus to take home so she could stop by the truck. Additionally, they take cash or credit, which is very convenient. The fellas working there yesterday were sweethearts… who says Boston folk are unfriendly? You’d never know it talking to those guys.

I love me some good BBQ; and the fact that I had some available to me from a food truck? Even better! It was lunch time and I was craving a sandwich; I asked the guy in the truck window to tell me what he recommended. I ended up ordering a pulled pork sandwich with a side of garlic mashed potatoes which ran me about $ 7 – 8. When I received my order, I was directed to a table beside me that had various squeeze bottles of sauces, both sweet and hot/spicy, as well as other condiments for my BBQ goodies. I doused my pulled pork sandwich in the sweet sauce, and it was deeeelicious! The meat was juicy and the bread held up well despite the heaping portion of pork. The mashed potatoes were definitely fresh, from real potatoes, because I could taste the chunks. The garlic flavor in it was mild and hardly distinguishable; I almost wish it were more prominent. Would I come back to try more? Sure why not, but I don’t think I could see myself going out of my way for another taste. Let’s just hope my next encounter with Redbones will be just as convenient as the first!

Meh. I first noticed this food truck when I ran into H&M to pick up a few items. Since I’ve been on a mission to try all of the food trucks in the Boston area, I decided to try this one out today for lunch. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of garlic mash. The results? I found the sandwich to be quite flavorless. And the garlic mash seemed to have no garlic in it. It, too, was flavorless. It’s a good thing I keep salt and pepper packets in my desk drawer. I certainly needed them for this meal. Very disappointing. Won’t be going back.

I have eaten at Red Bones in Somerville twice now. The first time I tried the Memphis and Baby Back ribs, hushpuppies(cornbread with scallions and garlic), the second time I had an online deal coupon. Red Bones has local bike delivery and take out, for those that do not want to wait in the line. I do not know of anyone except for vegetarians, who doesn’t salivate when we talk about Red Bones. It is so clear their eyes open wider and get excited for some ribs and bbq. This is exactly what happened to me when a friend said there was the Red Bones Food Truck in the Back Bay. We walked over to Clarendon and Boylston, next to TD Bank. The truck menu including pulled pork, pulled chicken(chopped chicken, brown sugar and mustard), bbq beef, portabello mushroom and the ¼ rack rib combo(with 2 sides) for $ 10. Sides include cornbread, dirty rice, mac and cheese, baked beans and potato salad. I had a¼ rack(four St. Louis pork ribs) $ 6.00 and corn bread $ 1.00. Combined meal, $ 7.00 The meat literally fell off the bone. The cornbread was soft and tasted so buttery. My friend’s pulled chicken sandwich. She added a lot of sauce, but the meat was sweet and tender. I told a friend about my great lunch, checked the web for the evening location of the Red Bones Food Truck, and we immediately walked over at dinner time near the Boston Public Library to get him his own rib combo. ½ Rack of ribs(6 ribs) for $ 12 and 2 sides, mac and cheese and collard greens. No, I didn’t order more for myself, but after a small taste of the Red Bones truck fare, I am more tempted to go back to the Somerville restaurant and test out other items on the menu at another juncture, if not another trip to the truck.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say the food that comes out of this truck is the best thing I have ever eaten. But to get a pulled pork sandwich and 2 sides for $ 10 makes this place A-Ok in my book. Now, if I were liquored up and passing this place I would probably order 3 pulled pork sandwiches for $ 6/ea(way better than the $ 8 dried up sausages in Fanueil) and load them with vinegar and hot sauce. I think they should extend their business hours to 2:30AM so they can attract the bar crowd.

One word: DELICIOUS! Okay, okay, here are a few more: I ordered ¼ rack of ribs– 4 or 5 pieces(I can’t remember), and a side of beans– $ 8. I smothered them with the hot and sweet sauces. Sweet can stand on its own two feet. Hot need some help from sweet. The meat was tender, it fell of the bones. Service was quick and efficient. The price is right. Definitely a great option for the corporate lunch time seekers in the city. I have to limit my goings to once, maybe two times a month though. Its too easy and good.

I ordered the combo plate(¼ ribs & two sides) and cornbread. I’ll start with what WAS good: the sides. The mac&cheese and slaw were pretty good. But the cornbread was bad — burned on the bottom, lightly baked on top. I somehow managed to choke it down. I was hoping the ribs would redeem everything but they were a disappointment. At first I thought my dog had beaten me to the punch: there was hardly any meat. But it was no mistake — just very sad rib bones with the thinnest layer of meat on them. Maybe they were cooked so long the meat really DID fall off the bone! In any case, I’ll probably give them another try because it’s convenient(I live 2 blocks away) but I won’t get my hopes too high…

What can I say? The truck is at the right place at the right times. I am a fan of Redbones as it is, and the fact that they now have a food truck makes me like them all the more. The pricing is pretty standard for food trucks($ 6-$ 10), although I am not sure how to eat the ribs that you can order there while standing in the street. Their main fare is sandwiches with your choice of meat(pulled pork, pulled chicken, bbq beef, portabello mushroom) and with or without sides. Sauces are on a table on the side. This place is quick, efficient, and yummy. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It’s not quite as awesome as in the restaurant, but yummy none the less. Add some sweet and hot sauces, a bit of pickle, and you have yourself a great thing on hand. If you’re in the neighborhood and are hankering for some quick meat, this is a great place to stop by.
