If you live in the Boston area or are staying at the Liberty Hotel this is a must try. It has a great atmosphere that is a nice contrast to the more clubbier feel of Alibi or the Lobby Bar. We sat at the mozzarella bar and it was a great choice. You get to see the chefs prepare some of the dishes and it is clear they are skilled. Place is a little pricey but if you order right you can come away ok. They have awesome home made breads that are very unique. The mozzarella salads are amazing. Best mozzarella I have every had, and got the beef carpaccio mozzarella which was a must try. Good spaghetti as well. The friendly and professional staff is icing on the cake. Great place, will be back.

Most of my Unilocal reviews seem to be 5-star or 3-star … this here is a rare 4-star review. Their food is usually really, really good but I still feel like it’s just a bit pricey for what you actually get. Tasty and maybe a bit creative but nothing that I remember a week later.

The food is good but very overpriced. The Dover Sole is $ 48 and be warned, served with the bone that the waiter told me «it is specially prepared to be edible, the chef request that you eat it». Also, my meal was not served hot. We had reservations for 7:30 and did not have our food until 9. My recommendation, go have a pricey drink, check out the building and have dinner elsewhere.

Everything was great. Great service. Great food. Carpaccio and mozzarella. Top notch. Steak with creamed spinach and polenta fries. Top notch. My wife had some kind of pumpkin pierogi thing. Top notch. She started with a carrot salad. She loved it. Ended with pear tart. Excellent.

Went there for brunch. Good food. My problem is when we got the the restaurant was completely empty, we had a reservation. We wanted to go into the hotel(the liberty) and get some bloody marys before coming back down to eat. The wait staff wasnt very accomadating to us leaving even though our reservation was for that time and coming back even though the place was completely empty. We were the only table at the restaurant. The service other than that was okay and the food was good. On the pricy side but this is to be expecred for the food quality.

Went to the Charles St stroll and stopped here for a drink and a little nosh afterwards. Disappointing… we were served flat Prosecco, which we sent back. It was not a big deal, but I was surprised the bar tender and server didn’t bother to check. The calamari appetizer was good, but the tomato mozzarella dish was not worth ordering as the tomatoes were flavorless. Too many other great places to go in that area to bother with Scampo.

I do not say this in an exaggerated manner; this was the best meal I have ever had. Everything our waiter recommended was excellent and paired so expertly together. My boyfriend had a charred sirloin steak with sweet potato purée which went so well with his appetizer, a smoked carrot salad. I had the special; a pecan and oyster cracker coated halibut also with sweet potato purée. Our waiter recommended his favorite mozzarella plate and it, of course, was also a unique and unexpectedly delicious pairing. I would definitely recommend asking your server for their recommendations. Especially if you are an adventurous eater and interested in trying flavors that are not normally paired together!

We went to Scampo for its Thanksgiving prix fixe menu, and it was excellent. The start of the meal was a salad with candied pecans and pomegranate seeds. The turnip soup, lobster savannah, turkey, and Chilean Sea Bass were all excellent. The pumpkin tart for dessert was a nice ending. The service was excellent, and the staff were efficient and worked as a team. It was notable example of how to run a great restaurant. I loved the interior/design of Scampo with the central island of the kitchen and various accents. I am not sure why I haven’t been here before outside of Thanksgiving but plan to check out its regular offerings. Very impressed and thankful for an excellent Thanksgiving Day Feast!

You must eat at Scampo. I know I sound like an elegant socialite, and sometimes when you ate in an elegant hotel restaurant, you feel this way. But Scampo, like all the spots in the Liberty, are somehow both casual and high class at the same time. I love this spot. I love that they make everything from lobster pizza to literally the best butternut squash soup I’ve ever had(it was simple but packed with flavours.) We did a sample menu here of their soup(amazing), caprese salad(simple but amazing) and white truffle pizza(seriously, amazing) and everything was seriously great. I would come back here for anything. For everything.

I was going to give this a weak three, but then reread my review and decided to ding it harder. I dined here before a business meeting with several coworkers, and went for the lobster ravioli, which was good, with al dente pasta and decent tasting lobster filling, but the expensive portion was four small ravioli in a little bit of sauce. Let’s just say that I was hungry later. Others got a sort of BLT — it had a twist to it and I am embarrassingly not remembering exactly what. It also got reviews as being so-so, and it was served with tomato soup that was described as «watered down.» So… that’s kind of a lot of meh, and for what i think are prices on the high side. Yes, it’s a hotel restaurant, so I should probably expect that, but I guess… I don’t think that makes it OK. Service was friendly, so that wasn’t a problem, it was just a price/value issue. I don’t think I’d be back any time soon.

The menu was very confusing, cluttered and with poor descriptions of some pretty obscure Mediterranean fusion. They seemed to design the menu to maximize their profit and not you’re enjoyment. We were there on a double date and there were virtually no appetizers designed for sharing. What is the point of having 4 different mozzarella appetizers if you don’t give anyone enough to share with their friends. Am I suppose to come back 4 times? All of the hot meals were pretty blah, the pierogies were a bit soggy, the steak was plain and the«best in boston» double pork chop was dry. Where it all fell apart was the duck. It was just plain burned. The fat cap was charcoal and the meat was grey. I sent it back and got another one which was marginally better but still over cooked. The speed and doneness of the second one make me suspicious that they were all pre-cooked. Maybe they burned the whole pan and didn’t have anything else to send out. I expect that the food at a restaurant like this to be cooked to order. I wouldn’t go here again even if i was staying upstairs. Walk down Charles Street, over to the North End almost anywhere else.

My favorite place for dinner when I’m celebrating something! The atmosphere is very trendy(of course since it’s in the Liberty Hotel). Make a reservation far in advance or you’ll only get a table at 5:30. There aren’t that many vegetarian options, but you can always ask and they are accommodating. I get the truffle pizza with fig every time and it is by far my favorite pizza ever. The truffle oil and figs make it a great blend of sweet and savory. I would eat this every day if it weren’t $ 26. If you get a pizza get this one! All of the desserts are incredible. The tiramisu is always a go to. It is very light and has bits of caramelized sugar on it which add a crunch.

I went here last night with about 8 co workers and we all enjoyed our meals. Francisco was our waiter and he was very prompt and courteous so no complaints most of us had the salmon and halibut dishes. Dessert was my favorite part a little disappointed the the peach tart tatin was not available but I will come again to try it

We first visited Scampo while on a food tour and were won over by the lobster pizza. Since then we’ve dined there for dinner and lunch. Both times have sat at the mozzarella bar, naturally there’s a lot more action in the kitchen during dinner. This past weekend while we were visiting, we stopped in for lunch around 1:00 on Saturday and it was relatively quiet. The service was lack luster, which was a disappointment for the lack of other customers in there. The food is great, the atmosphere is really cool — prices are steep, but the food(for the most part — not my $ 13 dollar salad which consisted of lettuce, 1 asparagus stalk and a scoop of peas) is delicious.

I came to Scampo twice. First time was last year and second time was this year on Valentine’s Day. The first time, everything blew my mind. The service was great and the food was great. I ordered the lobster omelette — it was the best omelette I have ever tasted. There were huge chunks of lobster meat and the egg was so soft and fluffy. We also ordered the malted chocolate waffle. I fell in love with it right away, especially with the crème fraîche. Maple bourbon donuts were just ok for me. The second time I came here, I was really disappointed with the service and the food. Our waiter was the absolute worst. He barely acknowledged us and had other servers come to our table. He didn’t even bother giving us looks either. Okay, I am sorry if I did anything wrong here. I was just trying to enjoy my date with my boyfriend. I still remember this as if it was yesterday. NO customer should be feeling so unwelcomed. I couldn’t even enjoy my meal properly because I was so bothered by his rude presence. This is totally unacceptable. And the fact that I am writing a paragraph just about this particular waiter is a problem itself. On to the food — I was really disappointed with the dark malted chocolate waffle this time around. The crème fraîche was not fresh at all — it was frozen. When I tried spreading it on the waffle, it just turned into water due to the ice that was in it. It just didn’t sing together like it did the first time I ordered this. The maple bourbon donuts definitely upgraded. It was so pillowy and had the perfect balance of all the flavors. We also ordered a filet mignon and that was really good. I will definitely be back to try their drinks. I just hope that I don’t run into that waiter again.

This is a really nice restaurant inside of the Liberty Hotel. It is really expensive, and you’ll feel out of place if you don’t dress nicely, because the clientele and ambiance seems upscale. However, don’t let this discourage you from trying the place out, because they do have some options on the menu that are reachable, like pizza and salad, and drinks are on par with what you would expect for bars. Liked the home made crispy bread sticks that come with a green sauce at the start of the menu. The Caesar salad was tasty too. Surprisingly, the pizza was absolutely delicious! My friend dragged me here just for this, and I didn’t understand why she thought it was so special. After eating it for myself, I could see the appeal with such a variety of unique and tasty flavors. Do yourself a favor and try the Neapolitan pizza with the crispy zucchini blossoms. Such a nice combo of sweet and savory. If I would change one thing about our experience here, it would be to have slightly less attentive service. I know this sounds crazy, but our waiter kept checking in on us so many times, gave lofty speeches for simple questions, and made everything seem more difficult than it needed to be. I can understand he was just trying to be thorough, and he was very friendly, but I have never experienced this kind of crazy attentiveness to the point of awkwardness in my life!

Went here for a birthday dinner and the food is absolutely delicious. I really appreciated that they took a reservation for a relatively large party(10 people) and worked with us when we didn’t have a final headcount available. The pizzas, drinks, apps, and other dishes were fantastic. Loved that they never rushed us and let us enjoy the birthday evening. I will say the scene outside of Scampo is… interesting(think Euro trash + Southie + leathery cougars) for anyone planning an evening at the Liberty Hotel. We ended up staying at Scampo all night rather than venturing to Clink or Alibi because Scampo had a way better vibe. Would absolutely come back here for dinner.

While visiting Boston a couple weeks ago, my cousin recommend I stop in this bar. My friend and I stopped in for a quick drink and were more than pleased we did. The liberty hotel was converted from a prison to a hotel so the architecture of the hotel is amazing and super interesting to see. The bar inside the hotel is very trendy and appeals to the history of the hotel. I ordered one of the cocktails(I don’t remember the exact name winter moon I think) that was absolutely delicious. They also had an extensive wine list. We did not eat there so I can not comment on the food but they did have a gluten free menu. The staff was super friendly. As we were visiting from out of state they were very helpful with directions and recommendations for sites to see. I would love to go back for dinner next time I am in the area.
