Asked the hotel concierge where I could get a good lobster roll from a local spot, and this one was what she recommended. It’s on the pricier end at $ 25, but you get a half pound of lobster on this bad boy. Nice, thick fries round out a solid meal. You won’t leave hungry. Friendly bartender kept up some conversation, as I got there first thing when they opened. Nicely done keeping things from being awkward with me being the only person there. Nice local spot.

Why not 5 stars? They’re closing, lost lease… Saw the OJ trial verdict on the tv in the bar back on the morning of October 3 at 10:00 a.m. Reminds me of the ass that got away with murder!

The news of the day is that the Boston location of Skipjack’s will be closing, leaving only the Foxboro location — So I called them and they confirmed that they’re currently scheduled to close on November 2nd. My goal is to hit them for a dinner and a lunch before they close… PS — did you know that they validate for 2 hours free parking at the Back Bay Garage on weekends and on weekdays after 5pm? *** 10⁄2014 Sunday Brunch *** I didn’t realize that Skipjack’s served brunch, but they do! So we came. Mimosa’s were a buck so a few of us got those. Hot tea was pricier at $ 3.50 but came with individual pots of hot water, a cup with lemon, and the tea bag of our choice. Bread arrived warm from the oven, but conversation kept me from paying them their due. No such lack once the brunch plates arrived, however. Portions were quite good. Many dishes arrived with an English muffin(not Thomas’!) split open and toasted. Rather thick, it held up well under whatever we topped it with. I ordered Eggs Skipjack’s $ 16 Two English muffin halves topped with two Maryland style crab cakes, two poached eggs and mustard Hollandaise sauce. Served with Yukon Gold cottage fries. Good choice! The crab cakes weren’t that big but they covered the English muffins well enough and were tender tasty crab beneath a nicely crisp crumb coating. Although the potatoes were not the crispy sort, I quite enjoyed them nontheless. Only negative were the solid center state of the eggs. I pointed out the non-gushy state of my yolk and was brought over a fresh pair of eggs on a new English muffin with a side of Hollandaise after pointing out to my server that no he can not take my plate(filled with other food I can eat — see next paragraph) away. A friend got the Latkes, Lox & Eggs $ 13 Crispy potato cakes, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with a scallion cream cheese sauce. Served with an English muffin. We shared both of our selections. The latke was quite good as well with a nice surface crisp. We were surprised to find that the smoked salmon had been added to the egg scramble, but still a satisfying dish. Tempting looking, however, was another DC’s Sunday Three meat Hash and Eggs $ 13 A casserole of breakfast sausage, ham, bacon and Yukon Gold potato hash topped with two fried eggs and English muffin with its crispy edged over easy eggs. Good meal. We were happy. 3.5 stars. *** 10⁄2014 dinner *** Funny. I ended up with the same server as brunch. On the way in, I spotted a sign stating that they offer ½ price appetizers from 3−6pm, so I decided to start off with a cup of their clam chowder for the discounted price of $ 2.75. It was a thick full cup of creaminess chock full of potatoes and clams. It was good, but I personally prefer Legal’s. It came with a bag of oyster crackers, but I inquired as to whether bread tends to be served at dinner(we were served a basket at brunch, and I had been served bread at dinner in the past as well), so I dipped that in my chowder instead. For my entrée, I selected the Gingered Sea Bass $ 30 Flavorful and well-seasoned sea bass, with Asian vegetables and steamed white rice after having confirmed that«Sea Bass» in this case meant Chilean Sea Bass(aka Patagonian Toothfish) — my favorite fish with its fatty rich flesh and delicate texture. I don’t get to eat it often, seeing as they had been overfished. But this was meant to be a treat, and my last chance to visit Skipjack’s in Boston. I opted to swap out the white rice for sweet potato fries, and it was a good thing I did! When the manager asked me how things were, I decided to give him my honest opinion — I was not enjoying my meal as I found the fish to be rather soft and its natural delicious flavor severely diluted. He offered to have a new one made for me and took my plate away. So all I had to munch on for the next 10 minutes was my fries(tasty, by the way) which had been served on the side, and bread. This also explained why our server attempted to take away my brunch plate when I had issues with the hard yolk poached eggs — it must be their restaurant’s policy, although I do not recommend it as it tends to leave the patron with nothing to pick at while the rest of her table dines away without her, or perchance, awkwardly waits with her as their food cools. When the new plate arrived, the fish was a thicker, but narrower cut. It was meaty and had a better taste as well as texture. Much better! And the vegetables were crisp tender and had a terrific sauce. The round cracker added an additional fun texture to the dish and offset the flavor of the sauce, particularly since I had nixed the white rice.

If you don’t know they are closing there doors after 20 something years. The only real reason for going to Skipjacks was because one of the Waiters Tony Fiore made every time truly exceptional! I don’t think I have ever met a better waiter than him. I would also like to acknowledge the GM Bob, A true Gentleman. I Have always had a great experience in Skipjacks with Rui, Mark and Sam. I wish them all the best.

I came here from LA to celebrate my birthday and I must say the experience at this restaurant was an A+ We ordered the following: Clam chowder– delicious with full of clams but it’s heavy so if you’re getting an entrée then get the cup and not bowl. Ginger sea bass-AMAZING!!! This was the best dish ever with full of flavor. Wasabi salmon– very good. Make sure to ask for lemon and then you’re good to go! Lobster roll– it was good but ask for light mayo. Not my favorite since I loved the ginger sea bass way more. Blue something oysters — best oysters I’ve ever tried. Can’t tell you how fresh and delicious they were. Our server Melvin was phenomenal. He was very sweet and knowledgable. Thank you for such a great time in Boston. Melvin even made sure to recommend all the site seeing places to visit. I will definitely be back here when I visit again! Thanks again!!!

I love this place! This is my go to place and recommendation for sea food. I’ve been here a couple of times and the staff is always super friendly and accommodating. All of their signature dishes are fantastic! The only thing I’ve ever tried and didn’t like was their fish and chips. But the lobster bisque is the best I’ve tried in Boston. Oh and their spiked southern sundae is the best dessert in Boston!

I would really give 3.5 stars. The service was good and relatively quick. The wine was great. The prices are good considering the LARGE portions. I had the lobster bisque which was delicious. The ceasar salad was HUGE and good. I would share it next time. The jambalaya was good, had a nice spice to it. The swordfish was tender, we ordered it «skipjack style» and it was one of the favorites. The clam chowder left a little to be desired. But all portions were huge!

Great Experience… The waiter was excellent. We had a party of 10 and only two of us were from Boston so he did a great job describing the New England style seafood. Oyster and Cherry Stones were fresh and delicious Fried clams were cooked perfectly The chowder is some of the best in the area Mojitos were fresh and hand crafted My Ginger Soy Sea Bass was incredible. The vegetables under the fish had so much flavor as well. The fish itself was moist and cooked perfect. Very good prices for the quality. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the seating could be a bit more comfortable. The food and service were 5 star. I highly recommend!

They had something for everyone… They have really yummy sushi too! The server seemed a little tough at first but she warmed up after the first course which was life altering clam chowder! The oysters I had were not my favorite but it was a daily special. I would definitely go back and try a different set of oysters. I really enjoyed my meal and Everyone I dined with loved their meal too. I seriously have never eaten clam chowder that topped this one. Excellent location. I can’t wait to eat here again.

They refused to serve me alcohol, at the age of 23, because my ID «isn’t consistent with the website we use, and we’re not legally obligated to serve you.» Perhaps you should check your website, because the state of Rhode Island handed me this drivers license. Shitty attitude, poor service, and an unapologetic manager. Will never return, and will advise my friends against coming here in the future. Despicable. Oh, and literally 50% of the oysters we got had shell shards in them.

I have enjoyed my dinner immensely. The place has excellent sea food, and it’s not overpriced. The staff was very nice. The one advantage of having dinner alone — you can get a seat on the bar on a Saturday night without a reservation. I will definitely come here again.

I’ve been here before and I can back for the exact same thing. Lobster. Roll. Get it. It’s worth the $ 25. Generous portion. Perfectly dressed. We even subbed the fries for veggies and there was no extra charge. Amazing.

It was a fool’s errand, but I’m a fool for my sweet husband, and when he asks for a lobster roll there’s nothing I can do but make it happen. With a scant half-hour before my train left from South Station, I was waiting for my sandwich at Flour down the street and I begged Unilocal to find me a seafood restaurant within sprinting distance. Score! Skipjack’s. They were practically empty on this blustery winter day, and there were a big stack of takeout menus right in the entrance. I ordered and within ten minutes I was on my way. Several other staff came to see if I had been helped while I was waiting, which showed an impressive standard for customer service. I raced back to pick up my sandwich from Flour, dashed to the train and found myself with ten minutes to spare. Since I was taking the lobster roll home to Baltimore, I had come prepared with a container and an insulated lunchbag, so while waiting for the train I packed the salad and coleslaw away and munched on the fries, since I knew they wouldn’t keep. They were crispy and seasoned perfectly. In fact, in the chilly air of the outdoor train platform, they were perfect. Later that night, my husband was ecstatic to find a fresh roll(they had packed it in a waxed paper sleeve so it wouldn’t dry out or get soggy) along with a ton of sweet, tender lobster meat in a light, zippy dressing. He loved the cole slaw, too. I didn’t mention the fries. ;) At $ 24, the lobster roll is not cheap, but them’s the breaks, as my grandmother would say. For the quality of food, service and attention to detail, Skipjack’s was excellent. I hope that next time I’m in town, I can sit down and enjoy a meal there!

Plymouth gin martinis, delicious and fresh oysters on the half shell, thick and rich Boston clam chowder, chunky crab cakes, and rich/tart authentic Key Lime pie… All served by a friendly waiter named Jeff while 80s tunes were rockin over the Muzak system. Might just come back tomorrow night after Kiki flies into Beantown?

This place had great food and amazing service! Our server Toni was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I explained the type of wines I liked and he made the perfect recommendation. He allowed me too try it before I committed. The menu was pretty big and Toni helped guide us through it. All his recommendations were spot on. They offer a tasty wine sauce for their oysters. The stuffed lobster included scallops in the stuffing, which it doesn’t say on the menu, but was a great addition. The chocolate bread pudding was to die for. The middle was gooey almost like a lava cake. Highly recommend this! If you dine here ask to sit in Toni’s section. One of the best waiters I’ve ever had.

Delicious fresh seafood. I had the clam chowder which was rich and creamy and full of savory chopped clams. I also had the lobster roll, which was pretty immense, at about half a pound of lobster, and a generous serving of fries. The lobster was fresh, juicy, and flavorful and the fries were great. All in all, a very good experience.

The chopped salad was my absolute favorite accompanied by the best sushi I ever tasted. Our experience there was perfect from beginning to end. Our waiters name was Tony and he was great all around he was attentive without being pushy and was very knowledgeable about the menu. He suggested the perfect wine to make our evening complete.

Four of us dined on a frigid New Year’s Day around 2:30pm. We were thankful SkipJack’s was open and not crowded. Lucky us! The lunch menu available until 3:30 was quite affordable and included many items. I chose the fish tacos, something I’ve become skeptic to order because it’s not always a sure bet at most venues. Well, these were absolutely delightful with non-fried mahi mahi, a delicious baha sauce which included corn. Scrumptious! And, they came with home made potato chips. All for 12.00.(Oh, the dinners also included a basket of fresh warm bread.) Our server was pleasant, warm, and efficient serving us. Thank you, Skipjack’s!

08/15/2012(I’ve been Unilocal awol) My boyfriend and I went to Skip Jack’s for the first time while he was visiting Boston.(Whenever he visits eating seafood is a must. I mean, you can’t be in Boston and not have New England seafood!) Skip Jack’s offered a calm and quiet atmosphere and although we went during lunch, there was no crazy rush or chaos; I was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering we were politely greeted and seated. Our waiter came over and asked«Do you want anything to drink besides water?» as he filled our glasses. That was it. That was his grand introduction. Not even a first name. Perhaps he was nervous. In the end, we figured his name by using context clues: i.e. the name was at the top of our bill. I had the seafood salad. Didn’t care for it much because there was too much bleu cheese crumble and the dressing just didn’t match the seafood/lobster taste. I don’t recommend. My boyfriend ordered the seafood platter. It comes with shrimp, scallops, calamari, fries and haddock. We both preferred his dish over mine. If you’re indecisive, you can’t go wrong with this! Overall the food was affordable and the portions allowed us to take leftovers back to our hotel, which surprisingly still tasted good after being microwaved later that night. We didn’t take the salad leftovers because sitting salad quickly becomes soggy. If you chose to save it for later though, we won’t judge. Bottom-line: 4.5÷5 stars for certain. Awesome location. Great prices. Mature, borderline romantic atmosphere. Good food. Nameless waiters.

Everything here is just very delicious. The ambience is nice. we had a great seat by the window… too bad the sushi chef was on break, we came around 2. He comes back on at 5 for dinner. My drinks were strong and our waiter was nice. We ordered 3 apps, rhode island calarami, the crab cake and the coconut shrimp. the calamari was delicoussss, crab cake was. out of this world! the crab was soo fresh, but the coconut shrimp wasn’t my cup of… tea. It was just too heavy, the fried part i guess. I also tried one of each of the 4 types of oysters. mmm and also the lobster bisque which i found kinda. too salty for me. The drinks i tried were the zombie, and another drink but i can’t remember what it’s called :( The bathroom is tricky. it’s past the bar and there’s a code to enter.
