I had the pleasure of visiting stage randomly one night with a bunch of friends. I honestly had the time of my life. I was pretty drunk but I do remember it being a great great night. there was little people dancing on stage. There was little people serving drinks. There was little people tending bar. All the bartenders were attractive. There was a gimp who came out of a box on stage and performed. And also someone took a bath on stage in an Artful way LOL. I will absolutely be going back here. I can’t wait to share this excellent and very enjoyable experience with my other friends.

I was raised with one thing be certain: The night before Thanksgiving is the night to go hard. Two friends and I started at Red Lantern(packed and lively), and then moved onto Pour House(packed and lively), and then walked(with a nice buzz on) towards Downtown to go exploring. We wanted to to the Liquor Store because of the mechanical bull but forgot that it was closed down and arrived at Stage instead. When we walked in, we were(sort of) greeted by the backs of the iPhones of four females working there. They sprang up and mustered up some energy to greet us(which I can’t fault them for — they were at work after all), and then said that the cover was $ 45 each. That’s right. I didn’t mistype. Forty five dollars… Each… So I immediately turned around and said«we’re outta here.» For that kind of money, I can get us a nice bottle of something and then have more fun elsewhere. Since they were clearly about to lose customers, they back-pedaled and said«what if we do $ 45 total for all three? Not $ 45 each? So it would be like $ 15 each?» To this we said fine, and handed over the money. Then something happened that I have never had happen outside of the airport or a sports event — we were all PATTEDDOWNANDSEARCHED. Everything out of our pockets. Safety first, I get it. But what had happened here before that you had to institute that kind of security level? Perez Hilton nor TMZ are outside with cameras, so lord knows you don’t have celebrities hidden up in there… It was one of the most surreal experiences we had ever experienced. Nervously laughing about it and unsure what we were getting ourselves into, we walked in further… The décor is okay and I saw the potential it could have. The main reason why the potential was so clear was that there was nobody to block my view — the place was dead. Very different than the other places we had gone and even passed on our way here. We walked in deeper and we saw that every single bar was manned by a bored bartender. There were a few people sitting on the couches and seats but not one soul was on the dance floor. My friends and I are the type to make anything work, so I braved the walk across the empty dance floor like a high school boy crossing from the male side of the gym to the female side so I could ask the pretty girl out. When I got to the bar, I ordered a simple Jameson & Coke. I was given a small plastic cup filled with ice and a splash of each liquid. I haven’t been handed a plastic cup that small with a drink that bad since I went to Ned Devines wasted in college. I chugged it(since there was less than a shots worth in there), and turned around. Everyone that was seated were staring at my two friends and I for some reason, so we just bit the bullet and left. I assume this place is energetic and bumping from the other reviews, but apparently it just hasn’t fallen in line with the traditional«Night-Before-Thanksgiving» party spots. I probably won’t be back — I can get felt up for free, elsewhere.

Good concept, poor application. This nightclub spouts claims of having vaudeville like acts going on when in reality it’s more like a missing scene from the movie Hook with a bunch of lost boys running around yelling«bang orang» while humping drunk girls. There were zero acts going on but lots of people who looked like performers standing around doing nothing. I saw one guy juggle for 15 seconds and a midget dressed like a baby with aviator sunglasses being molested as if I were watching some ecstasy scene from a teen angst movie. The music was all top 40 hip hop… Another thing that you wouldn’t expect in a vaudeville themed nightclub. The bartenders were awesome, however, so there’s a plus. And a coat room… They’re so far and few between lately that it was refreshing. The whole experience was very disappointing. It’s like management was on permanent vacation. The place has so much potential if it would take its awesome décor and theme and actually apply the music and talent to it like it claims it does. It’s getting three stars instead of two for potential only. It’s just another nightclub. Don’t let it’s claims fool you.

Pretty fun club concept in Boston. I have never been here for any shows but I’ve been when it is more of a club. That being said there were still a bunch of midgets wondering around the bar dressed as old celebrities(I recall seeing Billy Joel and Elvis). I wouldn’t go here every weekend but it is a fun spot to check out with friends when you are looking to mix it up.

Went there for the Viva la Vaudeville show last night for a bachelorette party, and it was AWESOME! The dancers/performers were fantastic! The staff was very attentive and easy to work with, especially Julia. She was easy to keep in contact with while booking the VIP table. Everyone had a great time and we will definitely be back!

Very rude staff. I would not give this place my money one more time. This is by far the rudest staff I’ve ever encountered in any business so far. I don’t know how they stay open. Also, there is really nothing to do in there and it is very boring. Don’t waste your time or money. Also, I’m pretty sure that there is a major drug problem there. There were people trying to sell hard drugs right outside the door. It is a very shady place. I will stay away from here in the future.

It was my last night in Boston after living here for 3 years and I wanted to do something different. Hearing the burlesque theme seemed cool. It is advertised everywhere that cover is $ 10, my friends and I went expecting just that. First impression — they let a Bachelorette party in, with 3 girls who could not even stand. Then we get through the line and into the club and they tell us the cover is $ 15. The money is not the issue, the issue is there is a sign out front that says $ 10 and it is advertised as $ 10. To make it worse, I question the girl collecting the money about it and the manager comes over and immediately gets defensive and starts naming other clubs we should go to. I have been in the customer service industry for years, I have been to clubs all over the country. You NEVER tell someone to go somewhere else, nevermind by name. My friends and I pay the $ 15 and go to the first bar. The bartenders automatically poured top shelf liquor without asking if that is what we wanted. As we moved into the club, the music stopped playing for about 2 – 3 minutes, making it pretty awkward for 11:30 on a Saturday night. Eventually the music picked up and the crowd got better. Although, I turned around at one point and a bouncer was dancing with a girl with a rose in his mouth(Very unprofessional). I love going to nightclubs and the theme is an excellent idea. I was just VERY unimpressed with the overall place and I would not recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of other clubs in Boston that are much more professional and worth the money. For a new club, I was very disappointed.

This place is just… Ok for a Boston club. If we were in LA it would be a different story. It’s in the small alley next to where The Estate used to be — also close to Whisky Saigon. We got there before 11 to avoid the cover. They only had the front part of the place open first since it was pretty empty. The bar is pretty stocked and there was always a «performer» next to the main door. Later on in the night they opened the back part where there’s a bottle area, a dance floor, and two bars. They had performers throughout the night in different parts of the club — which was cool. My favorite was the gorilla swinging from the lyra! The music was decent and it was easy to get drinks all night. Seemed like a fairly calm club, but I guess it also depends on who you go with and the crowd that night!

If you’re looking for a unique night life experience, definitely come to stage. Coming from someone who doesn’t do nightclubs at all this place is beyond cool. Really great bartenders and the entertainment will keep your attention all night. There’s always something different and new each time you go. They also do special events sometimes on Fridays. Check it out!

Been here a few times. Always cool. You step into a traditional long bar, with a bouncer in the back at a little library. When you approach him, he swings open one of the bookshelves and whammo you’re in the club. Once in this section there’s are stage vaudeville style acts, cool weird looking people, jugglers, little people, and a girl dancing on a ring suspended from the ceiling. I am not one to attend clubs in this area but this one is different. Cool vibe, good ambiance, nice bartenders. Lila makes great cocktails at the little bar, and Eric was a cool dude who knows how to bring the party. Elton John was there in the library and I think I saw Santa too, but it being the actual Santa remains unconfirmed. I’m excited they are opening on Thursdays for live music. Could be a cool venue for live music, my main reason for going to a bar.

The first time I went here was just passing by on a Saturday night and having no idea what to expect. I came before 10:00 and did not have to pay a cover, but it was a really great place — there was a magician, an Elton John impersonator, and other various wacky people milling about. My friends and I loved it and vowed to come back another time when it was later in the night(knowing about the $ 10 cover) so there would be a larger crowd. We returned last night, a Friday night. We were asked to pay a $ 15 cover, so we were already kind of annoyed since that is an OUTRAGEOUS cover to pay for a place with such expensive drinks. But we figured it would be well worth the cost for all the interesting performances they were sure to have. Fast forward 30 minutes and we’re still waiting for anything exciting to happen… 1 hour… 90 minutes… and it turns out that this time, the place is just like any other crappy nightclub. It was absolutely nothing special — no performers, nothing quirky, just dancing. We approached someone who worked at the venue and he said«on Fridays we don’t do performances.» There goes my $ 15 dollars. The one weird thing that did happen, however, was that the«headliner» of the night was Ted, the bear from the movie you all know. Turns out it was a person dressed in a teddy bear outfit who grabbed my ass no less that 5 times throughout the night. I’m disappointed to say the least.

Took a group of friends to stage on 5⁄17. It was graduation weekend so there were many, if not all tables booked up with people doing their own thing with their own groups in their velvet roped areas. So it tended to limit mingling. Drinks were fine. Service was fine. Shows were fine but lacked energy. No place to put jackets as coat room was closed. It seems that the entertaining staff has to be getting tired of the routine week in and week out. Although the website site suggests to dress to impress… Club patron attire was no different than any other lounge. A strict door policy, and more encouragement or promotions to dress up in theme attire could enhance the appeal and encourage a following of regulars. Ladies in our group said the ladies room was gross and lacked the basics. Our group felt it was a decent night but no one felt strongly about returning.

I had a pretty good time at Stage Nightclub when I came here as part of a friend’s bachelorette party. Located slightly across the way from a clearly more popular dance club, it was nice to walk past the long line on the sidewalk and get right in. Cover was $ 10, which wasn’t bad. The music was loud top-40 dance remixes, and the lights were flashy, so it had the standard nightclub atmosphere, but there were also designated areas for performances, which kept with the«stage» theme. There was an Elton John impersonator at the entrance, who I think was actually talented at piano and nailed the costume. Throughout the night, several performers — burlesque dancers, flexible kind of trapeze-type artists, magicians, and theatrical performers — made their entrances and kept things entertaining. There were multiple bars, so it was easy to get drinks, which were overpriced, but what I expected.

So. This place is a huge improvement from The Liquor Store. I love what they’ve done with the place. The floor plan is so much more accessible. I made reservations for a group of 9, and Christian was a doll to work with. I’d never reserved a table before and he was perfectly lovely about walking me through the whole process. I wish I could remember the waitresses name, because she was great too. It was a $ 250 minimum tab, I had my friends pony up $ 30 a piece up front, so when we hit the $ 250 I wanted to tab out and let everyone do their own thing. Our waitress was completely on top of it. When we wrapped I asked her for 1 more drink, for which I paid cash, and 10 to 15 minutes later when I didn’t get it she was sincerely apologetic and 100% made up for it. Music was fun, acts were great. Not a lot of dancing going on but that was fine because there was so much else to see and watch, it was still super entertaining and fun. We had a great time. It was busy, not super crowded. Could’ve done with a bit more people but that meant there was plenty of space for folks to kinda do whatever. They lose a star for a couple reasons. One is because the table we reserved, The Copper Lounge, they told us it would fit 15. Which was bologna. We barely squeezed the 9 of us in, and usually 1 or 2 people were standing. The table and seating sitch, in general, means we wouldn’t make Stage our regular go to place for the weekend. It’s a place to get a reservation, do it up, plan ahead and have a good time. Seating seemed difficult if not impossible if you hadn’t made reservations. So we won’t make a habit of going to Stage, but I’d recommend it for a special night out.

Pretty fun place! My friends and I came here after having a terrible night at Candibar. We were pleasantly surprised. No line outside and it wasn’t too crowded which made it fun to dance. The music was good — mix of old hip-hop and current pop music. There were entertainment people dressed up walking around like circus folks, flappers, rockstars, etc. which was pretty funny to see. In general it’s a unique place that saved our Saturday night, so I would come back

***UPDATE***: Christian got in touch with me and I am going to return for a second shot! I will update again after my next experience. I am now super pro Christian– he’s a great manager and I was very impressed that he got in touch with both me and the birthday girl to express his apologies. SOBERPERSON’S VIEW(I don’t drink). I went to Stage for a birthday party Saturday, March 28th and we booked a table for $ 800 which allows 12 people VIP entrance. This is a typical nightclub. The difference is there is entertainment if you are not going there by choice. The real problem was the service and the management. ENTERTAINMENT: The dancers were great– definitely the female dancers. Some of the choreography is just dark and weird… you have to watch because it’s like a car accident– you can’t look away. But it is definitely entertaining. The acrobatic stuff is really cool. SERVICE: Our server was all over the place the entire night. She was telling us she forgot orders that we never placed and she was missing orders that we did place. There were empty glasses and drinkless hands the entire time. She also brought out our tray of cupcakes, and then randomly took them away for some unknown reason– and then randomly brought them back out an hour later. I CAN say she was nice and very pretty but it was like being served by a drunk person. MANAGEMENT: We booked with Christian the GM. The night of we were attended to by Dominic one of the managers. When I had finally had enough of the waitress I went to search out Dominic, who shushed me and walked away. I immediately had security contact Christian who came over and was very hospitable. He got us a different waitress, bumped down the price of our table significantly, and sent us over a bottle of champagne(which of course was charged to our tab). Dominic came over and apologized later, saying he had thought I was someone else. Christian took care of us when we went to pay– one of the girls wanted to contribute to the payment by cash, I wanted to put my card in, and they had the card of the girl who booked it. THISTOOK20MINUTESTOFIGUREOUT. And eventually they said to the girl whose card they already had«Your card isn’t going through.» So I put the total on my card and we left. The girl called her bank and we found out they had CHARGEDHERCARD5TIMESTOTALING $ 1,069.00! No wonder her card stopped working– her bank was trying to protect her! So that’s a total of over $ 1,600 they charged us for 9 people, 8 of which were drinking. SUMMARY: We will not be going back. They are a brand new establishment and they should be focusing on professionalism and service towards their higher paying customers– which is exactly where they failed miserably.

Really enjoyed my first experience at Stage! Went on a Saturday night for a girls night out, we got there early so didn’t wait in line. It was so fun! Loved the performances, the ambiance, the music, and never feeling crammed/claustrophobic on the busy dance floor! The staff was great, friendly and very entertaining. Will be back for sure :) (One area they could improve on is making sure the ladies room is stocked with TP… feel like most of the stalls were empty fairly early on in the evening.)

What the hell. We went here around 11PM, paid $ 10 cover, and the place was pretty dead. The drinks were TERRIBLE. The bartender had to take the menu back from us just to read what was in the drink. What I got tasted like the jungle juice made with everclear back in college at frat parties. She poured it from a KettleO né bottle, which is a go-to liquor for me, but what came out in the end DIDNOT taste like Kettle One. Total garbage drink for $ 14. Also, this place had the tone of a really pretentious nightclub, except it had«little people» walking around dressed like Michael Jackson. The acts were not nuanced at all like cirque berserk. This was a half assed attempt.

I attended their opening party on 1÷15÷15 and man I was blown away — what a huge upgrade from the previous tenant Liquor Store, which always seemed to have swampy carpets soaked in alcohol. It is not yet clear to me if Stage is fully open yet, or still doing private events with its soft opening, but this is a nightlife venue to keep an eye on. The theme is «vaudeville» and the club fulfills that by having small stages scattered throughout with rotating performers all night doing various object manipulation arts, juggling, glass walking, dance routines, you name it. There is a main stage and also a ring that drops from the ceiling in the middle of the dance floor for a ring acrobatics dancer. The décor and attire of the staff really matches the theme, and there are great details here and there, like the glowing menus with delicious drinks, or a «secret» bookcase that opens to the dance floor. They play normal top-40s /EDM here so you won’t be completely stuck in the past. There are only a few points I’m a little wary about. First, the VIP area surrounds the front of the main stage, which feels very unnecessarily restrictive. Also, to match the theme, the club hires many little people, which could potentially be a little«problematic»(because it becomes a little«freak show“esque). However, overall, I am EXTREMELY excited about this place. Boston’s nightlife scene is pretty lacking(overly pretentious for mediocre clubs) and I feel this could give it some edge but also some fun. I also love how this club supports local talent with its performers. This will now be my nightclub pick over its neighbors in the area!
