The staff is not friendly at all. I asked Pierce to double check if they had a something I wanted and he gave me such attitude and threw it on the counter. This is absolutely ridiculous. Even the lady in front of me said that it looked like they were having a bad day. IFYOUARENOT A MORNINGPERSONDONOTWORKAT A PLACETHATREQUIRESYOUTOWORKINTHEMORNING. He refused to ring me up and had someone else do it which made me wait longer. Horrible way to start my morning.

This location is craaaazy. it’s nearly always full and you can count on waiting in a sizable line(i.e. 10+ people ahead of you!). That being said, the baristas are great and kudos to them for keeping up as best they can. Not my favorite location whatsoever, but more like a necessary evil.

Definitely not the friendliest staff at this location. They seemed to have a bit of attitude, and they liked to hand out the sass to customers. Even though I’m sure it was all playful, I wouldn’t be surprised if some customers take it the wrong way.

Very Bad customer service. I went to this store this afternoon asking for lemonade shaken iced tea. And I feel to be discriminated by the lady who worked here. I did not remember her name, but her attitude was terrible and I will never come back to this store again. It is cold outside and even colder in Starbucks. There is no name badge on her, and I wish I never see her funny face again.

Seriously THE most watery lattes ever! Barista dude, please spend more time making lattes! A ten second latte is not going to cut it, boo.

This Starbucks location is okay; not great, not terrible. Everything is a variable, which is –1 star in a chain/franchise organization. For example — sometimes my sandwiches are good, sometimes they are undercooked, sometimes they are soggy. Sometimes my venti-in-a-trenta-cup-extra-room-2-pumps-mocha-2-pumps-peppermint is just right, other times it has chocolate chips in it that I didn’t ask for. Once, I ordered a venti iced black tea lemonade, and got a green tea lemonade. When I brought it back, I was told that they forgot to brew black tea! Strange. The staff is the same — some are fantastic: personable, efficient, friendly, professional. Others are more than a tad patronizing, or slow, or too busy kabitzing(sp?) to pay attention to the customers. While this sounds like a list of negatives, this particular location does have some positives. I was wowed by their Christmas display — spectacular. And while there is variability, for the most part, I do get what I want. It’s close to work, the line moves quickly, and the(large for a Starbucks) space is kept acceptably clean. Not bad.

Waited 10 minutes. No frappuccinos in the store. Sell everything or put up a sign. Staff was nice though.

This is an overall review as I have been visiting this starbucks on average 3 – 4 times per week since Jan of 2012. Unfortunately, the first thing that sticks out in my mind is that b! tch Tamara at the register. She has ruined my morning twice with her eye rolls and raised eyebrows. I’m sure that most folks do not need her ‘tude in the AM, esp on a MONDAY, WTF?! Homegirl needs to be put in the back room where she can eye roll at boxes. I cannot stand her. Another«unfortunately,» my favorite barista has gone to medical school. Always greets with smiles and other misc. happiness-ness. — - –Lines do get long. — - –No vegan choices for food. +++ seating +++usually spell name right

Incredibly tiny, and the lines go out the door. No use going to any of the nearby Starbucks, because they are equally crowded. Hmm, how do I feel about this? Well, they sometimes get my drink wrong, and have sometimes misspelled Maria(how do you do that?). But– let this be a note on the lack of cross contamination(yay!). I ordered the gluten-free lemon tea cake and instead of pulling it straight out from the display case, the barista took it out from a random drawer. I assume this drawer contained gluten-free treats, so the three stars are totally in favor of that. The wait is ridiculous. Have you ever been here on a weekend? You’d have better luck getting a parking spot in five minutes than you would getting your frappuccino made in 5 minutes. Still: yay for gluten-free awareness!

Really nice cozy establishment. I came here to avoid the rain and ended up ordering a drink, didn’t remember which drink but it was good. As I waited I felt really comfortable and warm, the front is really nice with outdoor seating in a really beautiful neighborhood.

They have consistently made the most watery lattes out of any Starbucks I have been to. That is too bad because they are in such a good location!

The baristas and managers at this location are top notch. Since I used to be a Starbucks partner myself, I can be a little picky. They always do their best to make sure my drink is right, and that is always a plus. Some of the baristas there also have infectious smiles. Go prepared to wait a little bit. They’re always pretty busy because of the prime location and small lobby. But go knowing that your customer service experience will be great(and if it isn’t then just talk to their great manager — she’s the best!). Five stars easily.

Filth. Just filth. I want you to know that I saw a woman«cleaning up», stuffing her whole arm and hand in the trash can to push trash down. She THEN goes over to put the straws and stirrers in order. You following me? Hands on trash… then hands on straws/stirrers, people. Gross. There was not a clean surface in site. Everything was sticky. I had to leave. It will take an act of god to get me back in there.

This one always seems to have a line and not a very good flow. Everyone gets stopped up at the end waiting for their drinks then have to fight their way out through the line of people waiting to order their drinks. I would probably try and find one off the beaten path if I were you.

Reading all the reviews for this 165 Newbury St’s Starbucks makes me realize I wasnt the only one who experienced their terrible service. I was there yesterday night around 7ish PM, There were two baristas working behind the coffee bar, one lady and one guy. What bothered me : 1. No one greeted me and asked what I want or else 2. They were busy organizing whatever they were busy with 3. Finally the lady barista came to the counter, she just stared at me with an expression«yes what you want?» without actuallynsaying anything. So I was silent for 10 secs and I told her I want ice grande unsweetened ice coffee 4. She grabbed the cup and poured the left over ice coffee into my grande cup but she only poured half of the cup 5. I told her if she could just make the whole cup full, because I wont need any room from cream or milk. Guess what she did, she gave more ice to my cup. Wasnt that inappropriate? Gosh ! I wish I could just talk to her manager. She was a lady with tats

starbucks is typically good no matter where it is located. This store tends to be very busy which is not great. It is the only bathroom nearby and is always a long line. I would actually recommend one of the many other coffee shops along the way.

So the quality here is pretty much what you’d expect for a Starbucks… my review has much more to do with the operational issues of this particular location. First, the way that the store is set up, the line crowds into the door/seating area, and then you wait in the back for your drink. That area gets crowded, too, and then you have to push back through the line people to get back out of the door. 8 of 10 times that I’ve been at this location, while waiting in the holding pen for my drink, an employee has crossed through said area with a bag of rubbish to deposit in the«staff only» area directly across from the registers. It’s so awkward it blows my mind. The indoor seating isn’t really worth speaking about — there are maybe 4 tables. What does redeem this location in the summer time is the abundance of outdoor seating! It’s a great place to sit in the nice weather and sip an iced coffee… if you have the patience to make it through the line, that is. I kind of wish they’d get rid of the interior seating and reconfigure the ordering area somehow to make the whole experience less crowded/awkward… but with all of the other options in the area it’s just as easy to hop up to Boylston if the line is crazy!

I was thinking of giving five stars, because I was lucky enough to get a seat at the big front window near the power outlet for my laptop on St. Patties Day. The people watching was superb, I had such a good time just sitting there and watching while a sipped my coffee and got a tiny bit of work done. But I guess it’s not very responsible of me to give a five star review based on that. Someone else is probably Unilocaling one star because I was sitting there hogging the outlet and picture window seat for two hours while he couldn’t sit! This place only has about ten seats, and they’re crowded together in a very small area near the front. The photos displayed on this page are not accurate. Four people can sit at the window counter shoulder to shoulder, then three little tables for two right behind those window seats. I’m reading here about outdoor seating, but they didn’t put it out today. Do you know why? Because it was St. Patrick’s Day, and PATTY O’FURNITUREGETSTRASHEDONST. PATTIESDAY! OMG, I am so funny! Can you believe I just made that up just now? I’m freakin’ hilarious! But there actually was no outdoor seating. Seriously. As I was saying, as far as Starbucks go, this one is not that nice. It’s not dirty or ugly or anything, just very utilitarian. It’s on a great corner, and they do a lot of business, but it is not intended as a place to sit and relax while you drink your coffee, it’s designed for high volume take out. I always get a dark roast, and it was as good here as any other Starbucks. The staff was surprisingly friendly and cheerful considering how busy it was. If I’m working in the area again, I’ll come back to see if I can get that awesome Newbury Street window seat!

I have been needing to write an update for this place for awhile now. Since my last review they have remodeled, got new outdoor furniture, had a turn over in staff, and have strictly enforced the«No Smoking» policy for outside. That is right, I am sad to inform all of you that, Mullet guy, and, Guy with glasses, have moved on. I have not seen either in months. *pout* The new staff are very nice though. No one overly hostile, chipper, or bubbly. They also know what they are doing and, as I just witnessed, can handle a crowd just fine. The new remodel is nice; they raised the ceiling and changed the seating around. They lengthened the counter and the new patio furniture is really comfy. I do love walking past hear to see a staff person telling a socialite that she can not be smoking, yes, even outside. It is a great thing to see a spoiled daddy’s girl to be pwned by a barista. Just sayin’.

Stopped here at around 11AM this morning(Sunday), got my caramel macchiato in 6 minutes. Used their clean bathroom while I waited. No complaints! Keep in mind that there is very limited seating inside. Otherwise it’s fine. Also, I like to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi!
