The offering is better than most places in Boston. I’ve shopped here several times before. The men’s stuff is pretty boring, but they are catering to their Boston clientele. Their women’s selection is pretty good and their website selection is even better. I’m glad they carry Acne, Black Crane and Hope(more affordable designers). I usually have to shop for those brands online. Anyway, their clothing selection is great, but their staff could be a lot better. Their staff doesn’t know when to leave the customers alone! Friendly chit chat is fine, but I don’t need you pressuring me into buying everything I try on — especially if I don’t think the item I tried on is flattering. I also don’t like it when you chat with me endlessly. It literally feels like steven alan hires 25 year olds who just want to talk customer’s ears off because the store is empty and they are bored. Their store is tiny and so if the staff is following me around, it becomes 10X amplified since I feel like I can’t get away from you!

I had ordered a Steven Alan top online; it unfortunately did not fit as expected. I decided to go to the store to return it, and I am so glad that I did! Gary was a huge help, not only choosing another top, but also with the return process. Steven Alan clothing is beautiful, but the personnel truly make the store. Thank you so much!

Years ago, I became obsessed with Steven Alan’s famous reverse seam shirts, and then as they expanded their offerings I also fell in love with their sweaters, dresses, shoes, accessories, and items from other curated lines such as Ulla Johnson, Acne, and Demylee. When I lived in North Carolina I had to make my purchases online, but since moving to Boston I’ve discovered that we have a brick and mortar here! No more hassles with online returns, or buying final sale items that don’t work out! Squee! The store itself is beautiful and well organized, with women’s items up front by the door and men’s items in the back. Sales items were identified by red beads on hangers, and when I popped in a few days ago, their sale selection was pretty fantastic(including a number of items which had already sold out online). The staff is super friendly, unsnobby, and utterly fantastic. I’ve visited the store in casual clothes and sneakers, and never got a sneer or snide remark. They frequently checked in with me to make sure that all my try-on items were the proper size, and I ended up scoring some beautiful, well-made pieces which have gotten me so many compliments. As someone trying to avoid sweatshop made clothes, I am also happy that most of the items offered in the store are made in the US. I love this place, and will definitely be a regular.

Such a wonderful store, with incredibly helpful staff. Usually these small boutiques are staffed by snobby hipsters, but the guys who work here are genuinely kind, funny and above all, HELPFUL. The clothing is well curated — everything fits well and can usually be dressed up or dressed down, as needed. The store is roughly split between men’s clothing and women’s clothing. If the size you need isn’t out, just ask — they have limited floor space and stock extra sizes in the back. Lots of cute clothing from various labels including Steven Alan’s own label. They also carry jewelry including Satomi Kawakita, Bing Bang, Erica Weiner, Odette, Grace Lee and Jerry Grant(Steven Alan’s father!). Finally, they have a gorgeous assortment of accessories, such as bags from Baggu and Filson, scarves, eyewear, belts and select footwear. Ask them for the tailor recommendation a few doors down. They know how folks like to wear their clothing these days and the Steven Alan guys will help you figure out the right length to hem your pants.
