We chose Hillcrest Bakery to make our wedding cake. We could not be happier! We chose the 10″ white cake with raspberry filling and 8″ carrot cake. Everyone complimented on how good it tasted and how beautiful it was decorated. Hillcrest accommodated our need to travel to Ronald, WA, 100 miles away. The cake traveled very well and we were able to put together the two cakes with ease. We added a few flowers and it looked perfect! My only concern was that I think that the top 8″ cake was really a 6″ cake topper instead, which was a bit of a disappointment. However, we had enough cake to go around. Thank you Hillcrest.

I go in a hour before my wedding to pick up my cake and they can’t find it. They only have one girl working there and she runs In and out multiple times trying to find my cake. She had to call her manager to see where it was. She even brought me out the wrong cake asking if it was mine. She finally finds it and show it to me. It looks like fucking shit. It was supposed to be white with a beautiful quilt pattern and lace and it’s a cream color with what looks like fucking top ramen all over it instead of lace. I tell her this and she says she can’t do anything about it. at that point I’m like whatever and take it to the venue. It was supposed to be a white cake with cream cheese frosting and vanilla buttercream. It instead, however, is a white cake with chocolate filling and mocha frosting that tasted like straight up butter! What the fuck Hillcrest bakery! You’re failing so hard! I better get a refund! Do NOT go here for wedding cakes!!!

Pretty bummed out to discover I was the most Dutch thing in the Dutch bakery. My family is visiting from Rotterdam in 2 weeks and I just moved into the neighborhood and thought I would taste test a few items before they got here. Last time I checked Mexican tea cakes and maple bars aren’t Dutch Are the pics on Unilocal old because I didn’t see ¾ of what’s on here in the bakery. Not to slam the business. I’m sure what they do offer is yummy but pre-packaged cookies from world market isn’t quite what I was expecting. Btw my last name is de Ruiter

Chocolate decadence flourless cake got there for last day of Passover was absolutely beautiful but incredibly dry. One star for taste, but they get two stars more for even HAVING something for Passover(most bakeries did not, this was the only one out of eight called), and it was only $ 35 for a cake that served 14 people with leftovers. Also, the service was very friendly and kind.

Picked up decorated doughnuts today for our son’s birthday party, they were a big hit. Michele is a real artist with the pastry and cake decorating. If you’ve never been there stop by and prepare to enjoy!

Every bite was good! Hillcrest stuffs their muffins with all the right ingredients. The Blueberry and the Raspberry muffins were sweet and fluffy and just the right size muffin top! Always fresh. Worth the calorie splurge!

I want so badly to like this place but it is sooooo awful! All of the items in the left case sit there for days and taste so stale(as they would if they were sitting here). A bakery should have everything fresh baked that morning not things sitting for days.(Walk by anytime they are closed and you can see all the items sitting on the shelves for the next day.) As for the items that are made that day, I would say they’re very average. And for the service, not friendly.

I’ve always wanted to stop in, so last week my daughter and I popped in. I ordered a rum ball, a cream puff, a cinnamon roll to go and chocolate chip cookies to go. We sat down with a latte and had our cream puff and rum ball. It was horrid. The cream puff was so stale the cream inside had spoiled I spit it into my napkin. I told the woman she may want to check her stock of cream puffs, she told me the green tint and the separation of oil and cream in the middle was totally normal. the rum ball was thick and had no consistency of rum ball I’ve ever had. We were scared to eat the rest so we tossed it when we got outside. No apologies from staff about the cream puff no refund and they were actually really put off that I would question the puff. I’ll never go again and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else venture in. Not sure how they’ve stayed in business so long.

Hillcrest Bakery blew me away with their creativity and their delicious cakes and cupcakes that I ordered for an event. They were professional, friendly, and went out of their way to make this cake happen for us. We were looking for someone to get creative and make us a cake that looked like one of the shoes we sell. It was incredibly detailed, and not only was the cake moist and scrumptious, the art that was created was top of the line and gorgeous. Thank you for making this experience incredible! I will be back for more!

I’m now just getting the chance to write a review. I came in on Saturday Oct.10th after I called in such a panic! It was my hubby’s surprise bday party and our cake lady text me at noon to inform me she wouldn’t be making my cake(I paid her 3weeks ago). I was extremely stressed out, I think the gentleman that I spoke with calmed me down in all of my tears! I asked if they had any cakes I could come pick up and he said yes! I’ll take care of you! Come on down! I drove right there! I got in and he(I should have got his name) took amazing care of me, explained all the cakes/pies/goodies I could choose from and apologized for what the other baker did… And offered me a discount!!! I think I found our new cake place!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did for us!!!

I think overall this place is very good. It seems to be a downtown Bothell landmark with its distinguishable exterior and quaint interior. The bakery is pretty small so for the most part people take their items to go. I have tried several things here. It can actually be a hit or a miss, but I have found somethings that I really enjoy. For example, there’s one pastry(can’t recall the name), but it’s a flaky pastry on top of whip cream layered on a slice of yellow cake that is topped with an assortment of fruit. That one item alone would keep me coming back but there are other really yummy things like the toffee cookies. Only issue I have sometimes is with the pricing for certain things seem unreasonable. I’ll just stumble upon something marked up for no apparent reason. To illustrate, I ordered a few items for dine in and since I enjoy milk with baked goods, I ordered it. Well it was more than 2 dollars for a very small cafeteria size cartoon. To enjoy a regular glass of milk would be like $ 6 which is more than a gallon at a grocery store. That seems a bit ridiculous. Anyway, I think this is a nice gem in Bothell and the staff is always very friendly. I would recommend anyone to try it out.

I was under a time crunch for a bachelorette party cake. I emailed the picture and had the order placed within an hour and was able to get the cake within 4 days. Everyone I spoke to was cheery and pleasant. The price was fair, considering it was short notice. The cake was exactly how I requested, and looked identical to the picture I sent in. And the taste was heavenly. The entire bachelorette party raved about it. I am definitely going to be a repeat customer. I live in Marysville, and am totally willing to drive to get the quality and service that Hillcrest offers. A+++++

I came in last week around three thirty. I left feeling meh about my experience. The customer service was ok, nothing special. The apple fritter I had was really good and my husband got a Bismark and loved it but I was extremely disappointed with our«custard» filled cannoli. It tasted like it was shortening based buttercream and the cannoli itself was chewy and soft, not crispy at all. To be honest, it ruined my memory of the apple fritter and just said that it wasn’t as good as I had hoped. Probably won’t be back.

Classic bakery. People there were really sweet and nice, but their selection was only so so and their items were not very good. Many cookies were priced by the dozen. I wasn’t looking to buy a dozen cookies(just one or two) so my choice was limited. I did enjoy the rum ball although it was very sweet. Note that this is Northern European style so items will be very sweet. Based on the recommendation of the staff I also ordered a coconut bar. It was pretty terrible. Not only too sweet but it also tasted stale. I also ordered a couple of available cookies for the kids which were ok. Cheaper than your standard French bakery. May be a good deal depending on your taste and especially if you are looking to order in bulk.

What a little gem! Not to be confused with Hillcrest in San Diego where I’m from, but rather, this is located outside of Seattle in the burb of Bothell. I’ve got a pal out there, one of my besties, and her little guy was at preschool so she had both hands free for a coffee and pastry meet up. And Meat I did, in the form of a Russian(maybe Danish) pastry stuffed with meat and warmed up, as well as an apple turnover. Both were quite good, but would have been better slightly more warmed up(they were super busy) The pastry case was over flowing with basically a Wonka level of deliciousness, and the Wedding Cake examples that ranged along the walls were pretty fantastic. They bake fresh bread and pies too! Normally when I sit in a Bakery and have a treat and coffee over an hour or so I’m so over sugar by the time I leave: Between the eating, the smell and the visuals. But not here! Here I just wanted more. Good thing we left when we did! If I lived in the area I’m sure I’d get my bread and maybe weekend bites from here, the BF would rave over the pies too. Next time I’m in the area visiting my friends, I anticiapte we’ll be back!
