Worst haircut I have ever had. They were able to work me in an hour after I called, which was really nice. The ladies there are so kind and easy to talk to, but I left the salon looking like a poodle. The stylist dried my hair with a small round brush and kept getting it stuck in my hair and then pulling it out, with much of my hair still on the brush. My mascara was burning me because my eyes watered up so much. She started to take off the smock and I was surprised because I couldn’t believe she was done, again, I looked poodlish. All I asked for was a trim for my 3 inch below my shoulder length hair and when I got home, I showered and straightened my hair and not only was my hair trimmed, but some of the layers were at least 5 inches shorter and up to my chin. The layers are not choppy, but straight across. The ladies are wonderfully sweet but sadly I was extremely displeased with their technique, quality of cut and price. The next day I went elsewhere, paid just as much, and received a much better cut.

I just moved to the Seattle area and had the best experience with Kari! I went to a different salon and they butchered my long hair– I asked for a V-​cut and layers and had 4″ taken off (not quite a trim), and it was in a straight line, single layer.
Kari is so competent and she saved my day! Without cutting much more she gave my hair style and body, with facial framing and long layers. She did a wonderful job and didn’t rush. She styled my hair at the end and made me feel beautiful and proud of my hair again. I’m so grateful! I’ll definitely come back!

I’ve been seeing her for about a year now. She has always done an amazing job with my hair. Always knows exactly what to do even if you suck at describing your needs. And offers good advice when needed.
The receptionist is also very friendly and willing to work with your schedule.
The place itself is in a good location, clean, and very cute.

Great haircut, great consultation, great vibes! Brandi knows what she is doing! She is very knowledgable about all aspects of styling. I was especially appreciative on the tips about dealing with recent hair loss. I will definitely be back soon to do something fun with color.

How lucky I am to move here from Austin TX *and* immediately find a great hair stylist, Kari! One thing I was concerned about was my frizzy hair… well, no problem at all since Kari gave me a keratin treatment. My hair is smooth & shiny for the first time in my life. Yesterday she gave me a peek-​a-​boo blue dye at the nape of my neck. I highly recommend this gal!

I had Kristen do my hair — a full foil and hair cut. She did such an amazing job :) the salon itself is adorable. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. If I wasn’t moving I would definitely come back, and I recommend this salon to anyone!

I came in here based on the Unilocal reviews, and Im so glad I did! First thing I noticed off the bat, was how awesome all the working stylists hair were! Biggest indicator I feel about a good salon is how the stylist choose to do their hair. I want to be like «oh I want what she has!» Brandi was who took care of me, sweet as a gem and will definitely be coming back soon!

I just moved to the area from Texas and had to find a place to fix my crazy hair. I went to the salon embarrassed about my hair and the damage I caused to it while trying to dye it brown but was instantly feeling at ease the moment I walked in. I was greeted by very friendly staff and was also introduced to Rachel who would be working on my hair. Rachel turned my green brown hair with blonde roots back to a beautiful blonde color again. I thought I would have to chop my hair off to save it but she fixed it without hesitating. She was also very kind and fun to talk to, I found my go to hair stylist and I’m super happy!
BTW I haven’t been able to walk passed a mirror without having to get a glimpse of my new beautiful hair!:)

This salon is awesome and I am in love with Shelly! She rocks and does my hair awesome every time! I get bored fast and she switches up my look flawlessly.

This salon is fabulous! Friendly and professional. I’ve been there twice now, once for a consultation and then for a cut. Rachel did a fabulous job helping me salvage a really bad hair cut. My hair is still shorter than I like and the layers are not where I want them (thanks to the previous bad cut), but thanks to Rachel I’m really happy with my hair! Looking forward to going back.

I went to Maxx Salon for a simple all-​over color of brown a shade or two darker than my mousey brown/​grey hair. What I got was a shade close to Black Cherry and it was absolutely hideous.
I went home, looked at it more closely and called the salon right back saying that this color had to go so I scheduled an appointment for an all-​over corrective color. I immediately got a call back from Kelly saying that the way to go was with just highlights — a partial foil. Ok, she convinced me and I went in for that. Kelly also said that the color would lighten up «loads» with just a few washings. (By the time I got to the partial foil apt, I had washed my hair 3 times and it had not lightened up noticeably– maybe a touch which made it REALLY ugly black cherry.)
So, I got the partial foil. The hairdresser, Christian, applied the foil product and gave it extra time — both under the dryer and just sitting and letting it «brighten up» she said. She removed the foil strips, washed it and said something about applying a moose product that would help ‘tone it down’ or some such wording.
What I got was the hair color of an orangutan. Ugly, orange, brassy. Not only that, the hair shaft is completely roughed up and brittle. (It was smooth and shiny at the beginning.)
If I had just had the all-​over corrective color, the salon would have paid for it. Since I had a foil, I had to pay for it.
I called the salon and requested to speak specifically to Susan Daniel Ganje the owner, no one else. Either the staff intercepted this message or Susan doesn’t care about unhappy customers since she never returned my call.
Draw your own conclusions from this — the owner didn’t care enough to return my call, and the employees, seeing this disaster, should have been honest and said that they would fix it — but not at my expense instead the salon took absolutely no responsibility up front for this disaster. I am over 65 and have spent a lot of time and $$$ in salons. I have never had a more unpleasant experience that this.

Finally found somewhere I can trust to do my hair color. I have always had bad experience with going to a hair salon, either they cut it shorter then I want it or doesn’t cut it how I ask but not here. The girl I had did a fantastic job, she even made some suggestions to what I want to make it look flawless. This hair stylists know what they are doing. My hair never look any better!

Desperate for a haircut close to the Christmas Holiday, I had no desire to go anywhere near the mall or shopping centers for a haircut. For many years I have been visiting corporate salons because I wanted technical and skilled cuts.
I found Maxx Salon in Bothell through Unilocal and gratefully they were able to fit me in right away. The salon was lovely and comfortable.
My haircut was skilled and technical like the corporate salons but there was no pressure to buy products or make an advance appointment in 6 weeks, etc.
Everything was for my pleasure. The haircut was exactly what I was hoping for and in a wonderfully comfortable environment.

So incredibly glad I found this salon. I moved up from Oregon about 6 months ago and was dreading finding a new hair salon. Like most women who color their hair regularly, I’m relatively picky. Melissa was WONDERFUL. She listened to what I wanted, made a few suggestions, and completely delivered. I’ve never loved my hair color or cut more. She’s extremely thorough and very flexible.
I actually had an appoitment this morning that had been incorrectly scheduled as just a cut so the time block allotted wasn’t large enough for her to color my hair. She offered to come in early tomorrow to get it done.
She’s recommended a few products to me without being pushy at all. The ones I’ve purchased, I’ve absolutely loved! She only recommends products that she genuinely believes will be good for your hair type and that she’s tested before.
So glad I found this place!

I have had some traumatizing hair cut experiences, so I was nervous to try somewhere new. My entire experience at Maxx was delightful. The receptionist was wonderful and informative, she also asked me specific questions («How long is your hair? Is it thick, fine, etc?») to ensure my stylist had enough information to do a fantastic job. I had Shelly, and she was great! She really listened to me and respected what I wanted. I am definitely going to come back.

This salon in a restored historical craftsman cottage is truly a hidden gem in downtown Bothell. The atmosphere is elegant, sophisticated and relaxing. Beautifully decorated. I made an appointment and when I called the receptionist asked me what kind of haircut I wanted. I described what I had in mind an she matched me to Amelia. I brought in some pictures and Amelia talked with me about my ideas, my hair and lifestyle, and what I liked about the photos I had. She did an excellent job. Her cut was precise and she was obviously skilled. I got exactly what I wanted and I’m thrilled. Amelia is patient, friendly, and flexible. This salon and stylist are great finds!

I love Maxx Salon. It is the only place I will go to get my hair cut and colored. The prices are reasonable, the staff is very talented and down to earth, and the location is good. I will admit that I’m an Aveda snob and went to a few Aveda salons in the area before trying Maxx Salon. I was never really impressed with how my hair looked which didn’t fly for me considering how expensive Aveda salons can be. Fortunately I stumbled across Maxx Salon about 2.5 years ago and have been going there ever since.

I think I finally found my go-​to salon, it only took me three years. I’m very pleased with how soon I was able to get in for a cut and color. The receptionist was very cordial and asked plenty of questions to ensure I received an adequate length of time with the stylist. I came in with a few photo ideas for color but wasn’t too picky about length and Kari made some great decisions to help me feel light and ready for warm weather. For $ 150 I got about 8 inches chopped off, some great face framing layers, beautiful caramel highlights throughout, and styled with some great curls. The salon is really cute and relaxing rather than a loud, busy place. I will definitely go back when I’m ready for more color or a new style.

When I went in I had a visual in my mind of what I wanted, and when I explained it to Nicole, she took my ideas and ran with it. She gave me the cut I’ve always wanted, and even more so!
Whenever I get my hair cut by someone, I always ask for LOTS of layers, and no one EVER gives them to me. Except Nicole! She was the first person who gave my hair the layers, volume and muss it needs.
I also requested a more ash blonde color, and she mixed up the perfect color, and was very quick about putting the foils in.
The salon itself is very quaint and adorable, they did a great job with decorating and converting the house into a salon.
I can’t wait to get my hair done again, and maybe try a wax!
