Oh well, officially off the island for us. Over the past two months going for breakfast we grew accustomed to the marginal service by semi-alert and apathetic servers and food taking unreasonably long to reach the table. We were able to live with that(small kitchen, I get it). However, the cold food has been the last straw. Every-single time, cold food. This morning, Benedict(BLT) literally cold, not just lukewarm, cold and since we saw our gal server 1 time after dropping the food and could not get anyone’s attention, it was another«oh well» moment. Father’s Day breakfast with my elderly Mom and my wife the last thing I want to do is spend any time dealing with issues around a silly plate of food. So, we’re out. Sorry.

When it comes to breakfast, I think many Boulder restaurants do it right. That’s one food category that I am confident Boulder does well at. As far as Tangerine goes, this place is delicious. Not the best breakfast food I’ve had here in this city, but it’s pretty good. The prices are a bit steep, but the portions are decent. I had a chance to go there twice. The first time I ordered the egg and corn beef hash. Simply delicious. Really loved the corned beef and also the potatoes were cooked perfectly. The second time I visited I got chicken and waffles. Waffles were nice and fluffy, but the chicken was kind of bland, not bad. It has a nice crisp to it but no pop of flavor that I was expecting. I would definitely come back here because the food is good and the staff are great too, but I would probably pick another place before deciding to go here.

I’ve been to tangerine plenty of times, I love their unique menu and enjoy the Benedicts but the service really needs some work, they are soo slow ! We never even got greeted by a server, the hostess got us water and our drink order. When she brought the drinks 10 minutes later I had to catch her before walking away to ask if we could order. Meanwhile the couple next to us who sat down right after us STILL weren’t even acknowledged by anyone yet, they were very frustrated and left. I’ll probably go back because i like the food, but it’s disappointing when the employees of a restaurant don’t understand basic customer service.

**VERY, VERYVEGANFRIENDLY** I’ve been vegan for about four years and have literally had every vegan breakfast dish available in all of Boulder. Tangerine has recently updated their menu and now includes excellent vegan options. ‘The Vegan’ comes with sautéed tempeh, pinto beans, breakfast potatoes, eggplant caponata, sautéed spinach, a delicious bell pepper sauce, a walnut pesto with mint, and avocado. The only thing one may want to order on the side is toast. I highly recommend this dish to anyone looking for a solid vegan breakfast and I really feel that it’s now the BEST vegan breakfast option in Boulder that isn’t coming from a dedicated vegetarian restaurant, particularly because it is not ‘just’ the more common tofu scramble or oatmeal, and it also includes 2 proteins as well as 2 vegetables, greens and potatoes, and 2 sauces, as well as no up-charge for replacing eggs with tofu or tempeh. Some other vegan options they have include a ‘corned beef hash’ but ask for tempeh instead of beef. I look forward to trying this next time I go. In addition, they also have almond milk and rice milk for smoothies or coffee/tea. ‘The Vegan’ was seriously delicious. There are some other dishes on the menu that can be veganized by replacing the eggs with tempeh and asking them to hold any cheese, and this is what I used to do when I went, but honestly, ‘The Vegan’ was so killer that it will be hard to order anything else there from here on out! If you or someone in your party is vegan, consider trying out tangerine for breakfast/brunch. It is a completely refreshing option and everyone will be able to be accommodated deliciously: vegetarian, vegan, omnivorous, or gluten free.

When the food finally showed up(took 45 minutes) I asked the server(very politely I might add) that there must be some mistake, since I had ordered the $ 14.00 breakfast and the plate she dropped off was sweating from sitting too long, looked like jimmy dean sausage links(size and appearance) and the eggs were clearly not cooked over well(still runny on one side). So I asked that she return to the kitchen and present me something that was worth the outrageous price listed on the menu… sorry if you are going to charge these prices there is NOEXCUSE as to why it comes out looking like DOTS Diner and to boot is luke warm.

We needed a brunch spot to celebrate and Tangerine happened to be close by and have good reviews. We heeded one Unilocalers review to grab the Groupon, which really just gave us $ 7 off our meal. Tangerine is not the cheapest option on the block, but their menu definitely has something for everyone — Gluten Free, Vegetarian and Omnivores(like us)! It is trendy, bright and clean and their menu has some unique offerings. We were both starving so we went with the Corned Beef Hash and Chicken and Waffles. Both were delicious. The corned beef was toasted and served as nice big chunks mixed into russet potatoes, while the chicken was tender and the cashew cream on the waffles a nice touch. My one dislike was that the waffle was thick and dry and tasted like the mix you get at hotel continental breakfast buffets. Fairly bland, but was saved by the cream and maple syrup. They have a great selection of drinks, teas, coffees, house made hot chocolate(which was wonderful) and smoothies. We would recommend this place and I’d like to try their trout and apple benedict next time! Friendly service as well :)

I started going to tangerine when it first opened. They serve chicken and waffles. This is one of my favorite meals. It was a good chicken and waffles. The last few times I have gone it has been not good. Today it was terrible. The chicken was dry and inedible. I let the waitress know and the manager only comped half my meal. To me that is a joke. It was a bad meal. I didn’t get what I paid for. There are other brunch spots in Boulder much better than this place. If you are choosing between this and someplace else, I would choose the other place. I will not be returning. I want to spend my money where people stand behind the product they put out. Tangerine has gone down hill. Getting lazy.

Tangerine continues to be my favorite breakfast spot in Boulder. I get the braised pear french toast every time. Their flavors are interesting and their location is nice. Not the most scenic spot, but nice outdoor patio. The servers have always been nice.

Usually with breakfast I’m like, eh, I can make that at home so cheaply. But not when it comes to travertine. This is by far my favorite breakfast spot. The corned beef hash ordered extra crispy with sauteed collard greens instead of toast. So so so gooood! They have plenty of gluten free options too if that’s your thing like me. Servers are super sweet as well. I highly recommend getting the groupon, but just know that you can’t split the bill asking people at the table, so you can only use one group per table. They let it slide for us. Stupid rule if you ask me. Please go there!

At the time I am writing this review Tangerine currently ranks at a 3.5 stars here on Unilocal.Based on my first(and most likely only visit) I would agree with the 3.5 rating perfectly. While the food was definitely better than your average breakfast place across the country here in Boulder there are great options for breakfast to compete against. If I had to put my morning dining budget somewhere; unfortunately for Tangerine it would probably be elsewhere. We got the French toast(7 out of 10) and the BLR pancakes(5 out of 10); of course doesn’t even compete with the pancakes at Snooze.

I was expecting quality similar to Snooze, but was disappointed by the food. I ordered the polenta with spinach and poached eggs. The eggs were over poached and the leeks they served on the side were very gritty(not washed enough). Also, no tangerine juice! I give stars for the awesome staff, cool décor, and really amazing coffee…

Still my favorite brunch place in Boulder. Their house chai is a must-order, and you can get it with almond milk for all you non-dairy drinkers. I love the variety of selections on their menu– there really is something for everyone! From your sweet standards(try the blueberry and ricotta pancakes) to the savory(salmon and asparagus omelette anyone!?) to the in-betweens(they make a mean Monte Cristo). The food is reasonably priced, and the service is always excellent. There is usually a wait for weekend brunch, but you can order a drink at the bar while you wait, or they have free coffee in the waiting room!

Updated review: Tangerine has PHENOMENAL eggs Benedict. Probably some of the best I’ve had in Boulder. If you’re going more traditional but still want a little adventure in your dish; get the green eggs and ham! It’s your basic Benedict with delicious prosciutto and FRESH pesto! It’s incredible and a must try! — — — — — — - Went to Tangerine for brunch to catch up with a friend. Her and I are notorious brunchers and have explored several places in Boulder. Tangerine definitely sets the bar high. The décor is unique and inviting; with a fun orange hue on all of the walls and interesting lighting structures. The menu is interesting and a classy take on the average brunch menu; featuring special ingredients like kale, asparagus, truffle oil, and more into standard and otherwise boring brunch dishes. We both ordered the eggs your way and the house mocha. The coffee was amazing and had a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon which is something I’ve never loved in mochas but Tangerine made it work! The service was great, we were seated right away and our waitress was very friendly!

This is my favorite place in Boulder for breakfast. They have an interesting menu with many healthy choices(and some not-so-healthy selections!) The brioche French Toast is incredibly good, but you’ll be on a sugar high most of the rest of the day. It can get crowded, but is well-worth the wait. It’s also nice to have a good Boulder restaurant with easy parking. I don’t often eat in Boulder, but when I do, it’s usually at Tangerine.

The food is good, if not one of the best spots for brunch in town… Sometimes. The food can be hit or miss. Great some days, bad others. The servers are nice except for their lack of sympathy when it comes to waiting 30min for your food. They act as if I should be great full just to get food at all. That’s after being seated. The place is popular so getting a table can be hard. I think they have let the volume affect quality. Which is good for the restaurateur bad for the consumer. So if you value your time and money spend both some place else.

My brioche french toast was almost too pretty to eat. It had a decadent spiced pear sauce on top with cinnamon butter. The waitress asked if i wanted organic syrup for $ 1.50 or the free log cabin. Thought that was an odd question since this dish didnt really need syrup. I liked the flavor and texture of the french toast and pear sauce together. Service was a bit slow and not very attentive. Food was hot and fresh since they had just opened. The four stars are for the food not the service.

I stopped here before work on a Monday morning at around 6:55am and there was already a crowd forming in front of the door. I ordered the Monte Cristo and it was the best one I ever had. The bread was light and fluffy, the meat was tender and juicy, the cheese was melted just enough that it pulled when I picked up the sandwich, the jam was thick and sweet and the side of potatoes were thick and seasoned perfectly. I also had the fruit cup which was filled with fresh crisp green apple slices, plump blueberries and grapes, and flavorful strawberries. For a review of this nature I would generally give 5 stars, but the service was slow and at times non existent, after I was done eating I waited over 15 minutes for the waitress to come out from the kitchen so I could pay. Quick summary food good, service bad.

I recently came here for brunch on a Saturday. The wait was only 10 minutes, and I think it was even less than that. I rarely come here because it’s quite a bit further from my house, but I really need to visit more often. The restaurant is really cute and well decorated. The service was prompt. They even have liquor, should you choose to imbibe for brunch. I skipped this time, but I’m sure I’ll be back in the near future. They have lots of vegetarian options(if you’re a vegetarian, which I’m not) and the menu is quite hard to select from because everything sounds so good. I opted for the vegetarian omelette and added a side of potatoes, it also comes with toast. My companion ordered a vegetarian dish with polenta. The food arrived promptly and tasted great! I’ll definitely be back soon!

First and foremost, all of the staff members that we encountered were excellent. It was really easy to get a hold of our server and she checked in routinely for refills. We had a couple of drinks with our brunch. The bloody mary was solid, but nothing spectacular. I greatly enjoyed the strawberry mojito — more than enough mint to really knock it out of the park. We both enjoyed our meals. I ordered one of the poached eggs option. Of the two eggs, one was perfectly cooked and the other slightly overcoocked. I missed the oozing egg yolk, but everything else was top knotch. It came with spinach and avocado — both of which were ground down for easy spreading. The wait to be seated was all of 3 minutes despite how full the place was. We will definitely come back to make our way through other options on the menu. It was a great experience and we love the bright orange décor.

When we first walked in we were greeted and had a place to sit and wait. The overall atmosphere looked very vibrant and modern. The wait was only about 5 minutes and this was around 10 o’clock on a Sunday morning. When we were seated it took less than 30 seconds for a server to greet us and get our drink order. It’s nice that they have a full barista so that you can order a coffee if you don’t really feel like having an alcoholic beverage. The coffee was prepared really well and was delicious. I ordered the corned beef hash and the food took around 5 – 7 minutes to come out. The portion was very good and enough food for me as I tend to eat a lot. The beef was cooked well and had a pretty solid seasoning and paired well with the potatoes, onions, and parsley. The service was pretty good. The server was attentive and never left us stranded to a point where we needed to ask someone to get her. She was polite and professional. I am giving 4 stars because although it was a very positive and delicious breakfast experience, there wasn’t anything that profoundly stuck out at me to merit a 5. I would absolutely come here again and recommend it to any Boulder native or someone traveling through.
