New York City Deli

Came here for the first time last night and already coming back again AND bringing a friend. Their sandwiches are that good! You also can’t beat the price or the excellent service.

I’m back! I love NYC Deli! Some places get reviews that are good and they should get a three or two. The reviews from everyone are true testimonies. This place is the best!

This place is a small deli with limited seating that serves up some of the most delicious deli sandwiches we have ever had.

Good sandwiches! Quality Boar’s Head meat with fresh veggies/​cheese. I’ve been back multiple times. If your willing to spend a bit more that subway, it’s worth it!

Great sandwiches — awesome customer service. Refreshing to have a classic family deli here in Kankakee county.
My fave is a pastrami on rye. Also great soup and pasta salads.

OK been here twice now and it is just so so good. Great classic sandwiches! The sandwiches are made with Boar’s Head deli meats which is clearly a superior deli meat. The first time I had the Club sandwich with turkey, bacon, and avocado. The sandwiches come with a standard lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, your choice of cheese, and mustard and mayo; but you can customize your order however you please. Today I had the Italian Submarine. Very, very tasty. I will definitely be coming here again for lunch. Can’t eat here too often however, because I always end up eating the entire sandwich — that is A LOT of food. haha

Best sandwiches around here, definitely made me not want subway or jimmy johns anymore. They always have pretty good deals to, about the same price as subway except instead of getting barely any lunch meat that is not that good you get good quality meat and a good amount

This place is the best! Come here all the time with my hubby and have NEVER had a bad experience. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. Sandwichs made fresh and they are huge! If your looking for great food come here!

Great food! Have ate here many of times. You get a very large sandwich for the price. Way better then any of the chain restaurant for a sandwich. You will be impressed.

Great sandwiches. Unique selection of chips. Boars head cold cuts that are cheaper than the grocery store. Really nice people working there. And that pastrami Reuben! Oh my god yawl.

I got the hot turkey pastrami sandwich and my mother got roast beef they were load with meat the sandwiches were very good the person who served us were friendly. and the place was clean. we also got the New York black and white cookie. they were good too. only thing was the were running out of soda for soda machine. I am recommend this place to very one who likes fresh sandwiches.

I work in Bourbonnais on occasion and my coworkers have had nothing but amazing things to say about NYC deli! I love supporting local, small businesses so I thought I would give it a try!
I stopped by after work one day to pick up dinner, my husband loves sandwiches and I knew he would want to try out somewhere new!
He ordered the Cajun #2 and I got the classic club, both on wheat hoagies. They were AMAZING! Very fresh tasting and packed with flavor!
You can taste the freshness in the ingredients!
They also deliver to our office which is very convenient!
Will definitely return to try more sandwiches!

I love their sandwiches, they are polite and make the sandwiches with love even tho you can get boars head meat, their bread and they way they make the sandwiches are great and I go there wen I don’t feel like making my own even tho it may sound silly.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why anyone would give this place 5 stars, or even 4 or 3. Yes, they have Boar’s Head meats and cheeses. I can buy those at the grocery and make a much better sandwich! I ordered the Rueben and while we waited, my husband said, «I think they just put your sandwich in the microwave.» Seriously? A Rueben is grilled and browned on the griddle or in a pan… NEVER microwaved! But, sure enough, it came microwaved so that the bread was almost gooey, sticking in my teeth. And the Thousand Island dressing was overly sweet and clearly straight out of a bottle. My husband ordered the Italian sub cold (thankfully). The meats and cheeses were fresh and plentiful but overall the sandwich was just mediocre.
Don’t waste your time at this place. If you want a decent sandwich, go find a Jersey Mike’s.

This place is a hidden jewel in the area.
I did not know what to get and got a recommendation from the very friendly staff to try the Big New Yorker. The sandwich justified the name. This was piled high with meats and condiments. I have never tried Boars Head meat but have always heard good things about the quality of the meat and New York Deli did not fail at all. The veggies were fresh and crisp. The meats were not dry at all and the surprisingly the bread held it all together. I am an avocado fan so I also added that and it was the perfect compliment to the savory meat.
Along with a bag of salt and vinegar chips a fresh made to order smoothie and this was the best meal I have had in recent memory. The employee was also nice enough to give me a free peanut butter cupcake which was the cherry on top of this perfect lunch.
If you want a great meal this is the place to go. It didn’t even cost me an arm and a leg.

In town for Bears Training Camp and we’re hungry…

My husband got the Spicy Special #1 super size… he finished it BUT it was THAT good.
The staff is so kind and helpful.

Delighted with the turkey, swiss, lettuce, mayo, mustard on nice grainy wheat bread I had. Everything was super fresh, and with quick polite service.
Very unassuming looking place, nice, but small dining area if you choose to dine there. They have every meat, cheese, toppings, condiments, and breads your unabashed sandwich coveting self could ever hope for. Loved every bit of my sammie except for the shredded lettuce and shredded turkey. It was tasty, but I like my sandwiches with flat evenly shaped pieces of meat, cheese, and lettuce. Call me picky, call me OCD, just don’t shred on me.

I went to New York City once my freshman year in college. Sadly, back then I had very limited funds and was more interested in scoring some deals on shoes than on food. I actually ate off the dollar menu at the Times Square Mcdonald’s 95% of my meals there (shocking, right) and didn’t even experience any of the fantastic culinary options that the city has to offer.
Of course, here I sit a few years later kicking myself. Those shoes that I «had to have» are long gone and I have no real NY deli experience to speak of. But let’s be frank here, you don’t need an experience at an authentic NY deli to tell that these sandwiches are freaking amazing. They are stacked high with generous amounts of Boar’s Head meats and cheeses.
I went with the NY special on rye and it had roast beef, turkey and cheese, as well as my choice of toppings and condiments. I was also given a choice of hot or cold, but when given the choice, my answer is always hot. The sandwich was huge and could barely fit in my small mouth, but the awkward situation in trying to eat it was completely worth it.
The service was also (surprisingly) amazing. They were super duper busy, so I expected the service to stumble a little in correlation to the size of the crowd. It wasn’t like that at all. The girl that waited on us was patient when we didn’t know what to order and even made a few recommendations.
The $$ is more than your standard sandwich shop i.e. Subway, but the portions are also generous. I ate half for lunch, then the other half on the train later that day.
