Great local business with great staff. I love their local artist’s merchandise. Their candles are amazing. They will fill any container you want with the scent of your choice.

We went in to get candles based on a relative’s recommendation. We live in Virginia. 1. Quality: We bought the«jelly jar» sized candles because they affordable. Each member of the family was able to find a scent they liked. Their selection is as good as a big-box candle place like those folks from«up north.» After burning nearly half of one of the candles, it has burned perfectly. We didn’t get the wax buildup on the sides and it didn’t eventually«drown» in it’s own wax like other jar candles. Halfway done and the jar is clean and clear on the sides. It looks like it’s still new, except half the wax is gone. 2. Helpful: The owner actually«taught» us how to properly burn a candle and explained why it’s actually important to trim wicks. I always thought it was a cosmetic thing — turns out it’s a science thing. 3. Custom Orders: They can make any scent in any color in any shape and they do make custom candles. Just ask. We’ll be ordering custom pillars for our Advent Wreath next year. 4. Prices: Comparable, perhaps a bit less than«the other» big candle place. Bottom line — best quality candles you can get. Very knowledgeable staff. Very friendly staff. Don’t waste your time with the big companies.

Candle Makers on the Square is a locally owned and operated business located in downtown Bowling Green near Fountain Square Park. The place, as the name would suggest, makes and sells a variety of scented candles to potential customers. The establishment however doesn’t only sell candles but also has an assortment of various scented soaps for sale. The candles and soaps come in varying sizes and are priced accordingly to the material used and size. However, one may get their candle a bit cheaper, provided the same scent is desired, after the initial purchase as the store does do candle refills. The general layout of the store is very nice and inviting to walk into shop. The store has bookcase like shelves and the candles are arranged on the shelves in descending order from largest to smallest size. The candles are arranged according to same type scent or category of scent such as candles that smell like baked goods, candles that smell like fruit, candles that smell flowers, and so forth. Sampling of the scents is no problem as one can just pop of the lid and breathe the aroma. It is choosing a particular kind of scent that is the problem as there are so many from which to choose. One criticism that I’ve heard some acquaintances in town comment on is that they think the business is a bit pricey. I disagree with this notion. I believe people are comparing local vs. chain store retail establishment price that buys in bulk when comments such as this are made. Yes, one may feel he or she is spending a few extra $ to buy a candle here but one is supporting a friendly local retailer as opposed to an impersonal conglomerate chain store. The candles sold here are a labor of love for those employed by the place and once one purchase’s one’s first candle one will fall in love with the candles too.
