I have had many meals here. They have all been on point. The burgers are the best around. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. The staff is attentive and friendly.

We have been going to Lone Oak Tavern for years. We recently went in for a drinks the night of Halloween. They were having a Halloween contest. We were greeted by the whole group. Who wanted to pose for pictures with us. My husband was a monk I was little red riding hood. We had a blast. This tavern is a mix of people from locals to bikers and couples. The staff is wonderful and the food is great. *People can still smoke here* which I am ok with because I enjoy a good cigar after some nice drinks.

I’ve lived down the road for four years and have been fascinated by this place, but always too intimidated to stop in between the biker gangs and smoking. Finding myself a bachelor on a weekday night, I decided to give it a try. The Lone Oak Tavern is completely bipolar as the front non-smoking room is brightly decorated with a modern country look while the back bar looks like something out of Roadhouse and smoking is apparently mandatory as nearly every patron had a cigarette in hand. All the action is at the bar, but I really couldn’t stand the smoke, so I sat in the front room feeling a bit of a pariah as I was the only person in a room that seats about 40. My server was very friendly and quick to point out that nearly everything is house made and even offered to point out what wasn’t. I’m suspecting that would be fried frozen apps like the mozzarella sticks. There are happy hour specials giving discounts on drafts and rail drinks, and food specials throughout the week like half priced wings on Wednesday and prime rib on Friday. The beer menu is pretty Joe 6-pack: Coors Light, Miller Light, Bud Light, Yuengling, PBR, «Lone Oak Red Lager», «Lone Oak Stout», Michelob Ultra and Angry Orchard on tap; Coors Light, Miller Light, Bud Light, Bud Light Lime, Michelob Ultra, Budweiser, Michelob Lager, Molson, Stella, Blue Moon, Corona, Heineken, Rolling Rock and O’Doul’s in bottles and some basic wines. The menu is mostly burgers and sandwiches with the beef for the burgers coming from a local Clarke County ranch. I got the«Tavern Burger» with chili, jalapeños and pepper jack cheese and fries. Ordered it medium rare and it was kind of cooked to temperature as the thickness was uneven so the thinner parts were more well done. Came on a nice fresh brioche bun and the fries were crisp with some sort of season salt, so all in all it was a good burger. I’d like to come back again but with a larger party of people so if the non-smoking area is empty again I don’t feel so awkward. Normally I’d try to let the smoking thing go and sit at the bar, but this was extreme. There’s a patio that looked nice in warmer weather, but I wonder if the noise from the road and smell from the farm next door impact that at all???

Pretty cool place. They have live music and cheap beer. We tried the wings and they were really good and the service was GREAT! Inside there’s a smoking section and a non smoking section, there’s also a patio outside which is really nice. The smoking is the only thing keeping it from 5 stars.

I went to the VA Arboretum in Boyce, and found this tavern in Unilocal. The place is not fancy, which I actually like. As soon I arrived I was very politely given the heads up that a group of bikers were about to arrive and it was going to get loud. I asked my wife and son if they wanted to stay, and they were actually pretty excited to see real bikers in person, I was happy to check the bikes too. The bikers were loud, as announced, but perfect gentleman on their behavior. The servers are one of the highlights of the place: very friendly, smiley and nice, make you feel comfortable and give you good advice on the food, drinks and even touristy activities to do around. The food is delicious. The absolute best for me was the Tavern Chili. I am in love! It was really good. The open faced Roast Beef with bake potato was excellent as well. The Blue Cheese and Onion burger was yummy, provided that Blue Cheese is your thing. From all the food we ordered, the only thing I didn’t enjoy that much were the mini corn dogs, which for my taste where a little too sweet; not bad, but not as good as everything else. And yes, I tried every bodies’ plate, stop being so judgmental haha. The draft beer was great! I will be back, and this time will order the large portion of Chili. You should go to this tavern, service, food and drink are 5 stars.

Too cold tonight for the outdoor patio(my preference). It’s poker night. Good food and service.

We’ve been talking about trying this place out for a while and we are so glad we did… finally! The staff was friendly and took good care of us. We took the recommendation for the steak and cheese and it was excellent. They bake their own bread is what we were told. The fries were done just the way I like them… not overly crispy. We even tried the mini corn dogs as an appetizer and they were really good… cute! The beer was cold… and we enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. It’s a great spot and I’m sure we’ll be back.

Lone Oak Tavern struck me when I first walked in. I smelled something familiar, nostalgic even. It reminded me of being in my twenties. What is that intoxicatingly familiar smell? I sat down at the bar and found my answer. Ashtrays! It is a smoking bar! Wow, I haven’t been in a smoke-friendly bar outsied of Vegas in at least 6 years! I am not a smoker, but I rejoiced to see that the bar catered to the victims of one of the last acceptable prejudices: Smokers. I loved it. They can offer a smoking bar, because the restaurant has it’s own entrance, and does not share the same air as the bar. The choicest beer on tap was Yuengling, so I started with that. While the bar is a little more working class than most of the establishments I frequent, it was fairly welcoming. I spent a few hours at the bar one hot Thursday night in June, with some locals who were out to unwind after a hard day’s work. I tried the buffalo wings, and the flavor was very good, but they were slightly overcooked. I heard that the burgers and steaks are made from local beef, but I wasn’t hungry enough to go for a full meal. The owner had recently been married and as a courtesy bought a round for the bar — Grey Goose no less! I thought it was an interesting place, so I stuck arounf for a while. They are open late, and what had started as a chance drop in, turned into a full night of cheap drinks. PBR pitchers were $ 5 so I went slumming and shared a few with my neighbors at the bar. It was a good time, and I will certainly go back.

While out riding our motorcycles Saturday, we began to get a little hungry and so we pulled into this place. I’d never been there, but was assured that it was biker friendly and the food was good and the beer, cold. After parking the bikes, we headed inside the tavern via the unassuming green door. What greeted us was a quaint, cozy bar and a friend bartender. We ordered the mini corndogs and BBQ wings to go with our beers. The bar food was yummy and hot, hitting the spot for a couple hungry bikers who were out enjoying the day. The BBQ sauce wasn’t quite as sweet as I like, but it was tasty. The mini corndogs were served with honey mustard sauce and were good. The ambiance of the tavern is a clear winner, so it’s now on our list of must-hit spots when we ride out west.

I really always have a great time when I am here. The jukebox is fun and the live music is as well. Great drinks and good prices, always with a friendly bartender, and delcious and filling food. There is nothing for miles around and nothing in Winchester can quite compare.

love this place. i always have a really great time here when visiting my family and the food is awesome. also, the service is wonderful and the new management has really turned this place around. the jukebox provides for a nice time, especially if you’ve had a couple of their reasonably priced beverages and make use of the dance space directly in front of it. Also, if it gets too smoky, you can go outside to their lovely patio.

On our way to the San Damiano center in White Post, we stopped at the Lone Oak Tavern( ) for an early dinner. I had learned about the Lone Oak via a Google«White Post, VA restaurants» search. The reviews that popped up sounded really good so I thought it would be worth trying. The restaurant is an unassuming place near the intersection of Lord Fairfax Highway(Hwy 340) and Hwy 50(aka John Mosby Hwy see for more on this Confederate legend). We arrived at 4:30 so I wasn’t even sure if they were serving yet. We were greeted by Brooke who assured us that we were welcome. We were the only ones in the front dining room, which looked recently redone in mauve and pink with white tables and chairs, frankly a little like someone’s Granny decorated it. The tavern is in the back with TV over the bar. The restaurant had a decent menu and Brooke told us about the dinner special that night, prime rib, which wasn’t ready yet, but would be at 5 o’clock. We had plenty of time, so we ordered some beers – I had the Lone Oak stout, which was quite good – and waited. Brooke provided stellar service and checked on us while we were enjoying our brews and promptly at 5:00 she returned to ask us what we had decided for dinner. We chose the prime rib au jus. It came with a nice mix of vegetables(I think it was brocolli, green beans, & julienned carrots) and I ordered fries as my choice of starch. The prime rib was a good size(4×9×2 inches by my estimate) and prepared perfectly. We had heard that the Lone Oak served fried cheesecake so we had to ask to confirm our information. Sure enough, Brooke described it as a piece of usual cheesecake in a «chimichanga dealio» deep fried. Though intriguing, we were both stuffed so we passed on it this time around.
