Starky’s Authentic Americana

Food was excellent. Service sucked (recently) went in for lunch with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while. We finished up delicious food and had paid, but not signed our receipts because we were still talking. The waitress rudely snatched up the black book and I kindly told her we hadn’t signed it yet. She slammed the book down and my friend said sorry we will get out of here, she mumbled something along the lines of yeah we are busy. My friend and I were in awe. We were catching up and hadn’t even been sitting there for long. The server was so rude, you should NEVER treat a customer like that!

Starky’s is a hidden gem! I have been a long term customer of Starky’s. A little known secret is that they are now open for breakfast (8am every day) and have a great selection including egg dishes, biscuits & gravy (yum), huevos, pancakes, etc. They are mostly know for lunches, but have great dinners as well — all which won’t break the bank. Everything is made fresh on site including a wide array of baked goods. Lunch and dinner can get busy, so plan accordingly. Breakfast is still a little slow as they just started last fall. Once the work gets out, I suspect they’ll be getting busy. Check it out — you’ll be glad you did!

Best mac and cheese in town. Service is nothing to write home about but the food makes up for it!

The shining star at STARky’s is their staff. Absolutely wonderful professional servers. That is why I am giving them 3 stars. The food is very bland and uninspired. The quality of the ingredients is high but the flavor is missing. The facility is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant but the food is nothing special and that is a shame because I really believe with a little more care it could be.

Starkey’s restaurant got my 4star rating. The décor is casual but sharp, we were greeted immediately by the hostess and seated. I ordered the fish and sweet potato chips. Delicious! There was an abundance of cod in the two huge pieces that I could not finish it. Our waitress was very helpful in helping me make my decision.
I will return.

I have never been disappointed eating here. The food is consistently good The prices are reasonable for what you get and the service has always been great.

Had the Lox Bagel and it was amazing — very fresh and tasty. Service was good, nice atmosphere, would definitely go back.

We came here for dinner last night. We were seated right away. Staff was super friendly. It was a bit loud, but not too bad.
I ordered the portabella mushroom sandwich which was very good. My husband had the meatloaf which he said was good but not hot and his potatoes were not cooked through (hard in the middle). The other guest with us had the salmon and said it was very good. So, two out of three meals were thumbs up. I would try it again if I were in town.

I don’t know why I always forget about Starky’s as a dinner option when deciding where to eat, because every time I’ve been, the food has been fantastic. Tacos, gyros, green goddess chopped salad, reuben, burgers… and usually a pretty good beer selection and awesome looking desserts. Have had mixed speed of service, but staff is always friendly. Absolutely recommend.

The service was excellent! The staff was super friendly and attentive. Really down to earth people. The food was amazing and we even got some free cookies! It was reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. We originally were going to go to Ted’s, but stumbled upon this place first. We’re so glad we did. Great place for lunch! Definitely would come her again the next time I’m in Bozeman.

Great place for breakfast! Came in on a Saturday morning and got a breakfast burrito, traditional breakfast, and pancakes with sausage. Everything was very fresh and delicious — possibly the best sausage I’ve ever had. Friendly service, modern and clean décor, local ingredients. Definitely recommend for others!

We couldn’t have been happier to find a restaurant on our tour of the great West that offered some vegetarian options. Fresh, delicious food. We sat outside on the patio. Our service was good, and our food was excellent and plentiful. It was great to be able to sit outside and enjoy our dinner.

Great place. I tried their salad made with romaine, kalamata olives, pepper chinos, beets garbanzo beans. Dressing on the side and it was delicious and filling. Added avocado.
Iced tea was very good.
Seemed the seating was confusing. Bussing of tables was congested and not orderly
Our waitress was Sam and she was very good.
Oh and the chocolate chip cookie my husband got was VERY good.
Bathroom was clean.
Place was packed with families and we had a bit of a wait despite seeing lots of tables. Maybe understaffed.
It was Labor Day at noon. They closed at 3

Starsky’s is a great little place to sit outside for lunch. The food is solid, the atmosphere is great, and the menu has good variety. Nothing exotic or out there, just a lot of safe, popular choices that should satisfy everybody. The 4 stars is more for atmosphere and outdoor seating area. The food gets 3, maybe 2 and three quarters stars.
I’ve had both the Gyro and the Reuben here. The Reuben is supposedly the best in Montana (according to the menu, at least). It was a perfectly serviceable Reuben, but if that’s the best the state has to offer, we need some more competition! The beef pastrami was sliced very thin, and was quite tasty. Just don’t come into this place thinking Katz’s Deli. You will be sorely disappointed!
The gyro was also fine. Again, don’t go in thinking that you’re going to get a Greek restaurant or even a Greek fast food gyro, with freshly sliced, rotating spit seasoned meat. The meat is the thinly pre-​sliced kind. That being said, it wasn’t a bad sandwich. Just don’t expect a Gyro with a capital G.

Traveling through Billings glad we went here after looking at the reviews. Got there around 7:30 on Sat and promptly seated. We had our 7 y.o. semi picky eater with us so I was glad to see a few other kids and a kids coloring menu. It did feel like we waited a bit longer than typical to get our order to the waitress as she was coming for drinks and we had long settled on what to eat. Fish & chips for hubby, lamb gyros for me (no red onion), grilled cheese for kid.
I was glad to see notifications of what things could be gluten free; we’re not but good friends of mine are so I’m always aware. Food seemed to take a little long for after the dinner rush, grilled cheese was very crispy, but mine was perfect and a huge portion (two full gyros and sweet potatoe fries), hubby seemed to like his and it looked good (nice fat pieces of fish).
Again, seemed to take a while to get a check — but this was a Sat night after dinner rush, we were just wanti g to get back on the road again.

I’ve eaten lunch here maybe 10 times in the last 6 months. I’ve tried 4 things and they’ve all been very good. They claim to have the best Reuben in MT and I agree with that claim. It’s a very well crafted sandwich. Probably the best Reuben I’ve had.
My experience with the service has been great, but I’ve had the same waitress almost every time, so I can’t speak for the rest of the wait staff.
I highly recommend them for a no-​nonsense lunch in downtown Bozeman.

I’ve been in few times and have always enjoyed my meal. I love a nice mimosa on the patio with brunch! In fact, I work at a local motel and I always recommend this place for lunch, as it is in my top 5 places in Bozeman I would go for lunch myself! Love the gyros, sweet potato fries, and turkey club sandwich as my go-​tos.
Yesterday I tried the Gobbler, which is turkey, lettuce, swiss cheese, and cranberry sauce on challah! YUM! A seasonal fav of mine turned every-​day! The turkey is very moist and juicy, bread is grilled and crisp. Delish! I just ate the other half leftover for lunch today and even with day-​old fridge bread: Still Fantastic! I will definitely continue to recommend to visitors and locals alike.
