La Siesta

This place is one of the best mexican restaurants in the kankakee county area. The service is incredible fast. Everything always comes out great. The prices are very reasonable. Recommend to everybody.

Chips were thick and tasty, like kettle chips. Queso watery. Kids got chicken quesadillas and they seemed ok. I got the Burrito La Siesta. Pretty big burrito with chicken, lettuce, tomato, and pineapple??? Covered in a bland tomato sauce, side of «eh» Mexican rice and beans. Chicken had next to no flavor. Hubby ordered the Burrito Ranchero with beef. It had potatoes in it??? He also got a taco with beef and cheese. He said the taco shell was homemade and food tasting, but it also had potatoes in it. Definitely odd. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular worth $ 47 for two adults and kids.

Enchiladas Suiza & Pollo Jalisco are favorites. The portions are huge & we often have 2 – 3 more meals from each of those orders. The margaritas are consistently excellent. Service is top notch & the flan is an excellent way to finish off the meal. Highly recommended.

This place has excellent food. I had the steak, chicken and beef taco dinner. It comes with beans and rice that were the best I have tasted. If you decide to dining at this restaurant you won’t be sorry.

This is our go-​to place, we eat here at least twice a month. Food is always terrific. Staff is super friendly and the service rocks. Margaritas are loaded with tequila. Lunch specials are a bargain and you leave full. Try La Siesta once and you’ll be hooked.

I ordered a fajita chicken salad and it came out with cold peppers and onions which I thought was… different for a menu item with «fajita» in the name. The chicken was also cold. It wasn’t what I was expecting or particularly what I wanted but I ate it anyway and it was satisfying.
Not a huge deal but the owner was having a very loud conversation about what is «wrong with youths these days» and also conversations about crime in Chicago with a couple sitting at a booth. I was sitting directly behind the people in the booth that he was having these conversations with. He did apologize and I said I didn’t mind — which I didn’t, really, it was pretty entertaining. But I just found it strange I guess? Ha.

Love the food but they charge full price for pop refills. When we asked she said oh yeah it says it in the menu. Really!!! So $ 1.49 for every refill! They really need to warn you because who reads the pop area on the menu.

I wasn’t too happy about my last visit to this restaurant. The food was good, but the owner was extremely loud. He was sitting in the dining area with his servers standing around him. Very loud. I couldn’t hear let alone talk with my fiancé.

Whoever the new gringo chick is should go back to working at pier 1. Apparently she had seen something shiny and did not listen to wtf we asked for. Got overcharged, paid it, the and got the f#%&& out of there. Food was good tho:)

Love this place. Always great service. Food is amazing. My favorite is the Milanesa De Poli A La Biscaina. Amazing!!!

best chips and salsa in the universe.

Tasteless everything. Used to dine here a lot. No longer a favorite. Server was poor also. Anytime I have to ask for complimentary chips and salsa is when I know I visited for my last time. Sorry.

La siesta has a few dishes that I love to death. You can’t make a bad decision on their menu, but I highly recommend sombrero tacos, chicken or steak estrella, and when you are sick get the chicken soup. It’s hot, spicy and served with limes.
My only complaint when I go is sometimes there is no music playing and the atmosphere becomes too intimate with other tables.

Very good. Full flavor and plenty of proportions. the food was hot, fresh, even the plate was hot. Cheese topping was browned i love that. we will be back very satisfying period

Food was ok. But the service was horrible and the place was dirty. Even the menus had food on them. Gross. I got the 4 tacos which were good but I asked for soda no ice got ice. Didn’t complain, she comes back sets down a different soda down without ice and took the one I was drinking from. Could have just left it instead of wasting it. The limes were dry no juice in them at all. But I couldn’t believe that there was as much food on the floors like there was as if someone had a food fight before we got there.

Nice place, friendly, very clean. I got enchiladas, they tasted great. The customers I was with got fajita tacos and loved them. They have expanded the building by enclosing a patio area. Their menu isn’t huge and confusing. They have a bar, it looks like a great place to come in for dinner and have a good time with friends. Definately will be back!

The chips were cold. The refried beans and rice were the most flavorless I’ve ever tasted. Everything else was very «meh.» My husband also found the restaurant to be rather dirty. Make the drive to El Mexicano near the Hilton Garden Inn and WalMart — far better food and atmosphere.

The mango margaritas here are the best I’ve ever had! I also love their tortillas chips. The ones with the air bubbles are my favorite.

My first time here, I went with 4 tacos (two ground beef, two chicken), refried beans with rice, and a platinum marg to was things down. Food was awesome and the hot sauce they provided was hot as hell and delicious.
My only gripe with this place at that time was the cleanliness. Maybe I just missed rush hour, they were under staffed, or it was near closing time, but I feel that up keep and cleaning should always be a priority.
Also had the chance to meet the owner, who was a class act.
La Siesta is definitely a must try.

I noticed this evening that the Mexican options in my town are far too limited. I was craving some tacos. Not the kind of «tacos» that you’d find at the Taco Bell Drive-​Thru drowning in cheese and sour cream, but the authentic Mexican variety with lots of chopped raw onions, cilantro and salsa — nom nom nom. I guess that I could have had this made at any Mexican restaurant, but La Siesta is the one place that had the closest thing already listed on their menu.
We each went with 3 of the Tacos Rancheros, which were steak, salsa verde, raw onions, and cilantro on a corn tortilla. The tacos were really good in that the steak was tender and not fatty as you sometimes find. These tacos took me back to the perfect tacos I had in Vegas back in January at Asada Tacos on Fremont Street. My only complaint was that I prefer a lot more raw onions — so next time I will ask for extra. (My other favorite menu items at La Siesta include their seafood chimichangas, the cheese & chorizo appetizer and their enchiladas.)
Although the food was perfectly delicious, my experience ordering was a bit of a cluster. I called in my order for carry-​out and the girl taking the order was super confused. It could have been a language barrier or it could have been the fact that I have a slight lisp thanks to my braces. Either way, I was extremely grateful when someone else called me back about 5 minutes later to ask what it was I wanted. I prefer having to give my order again then get all the way home and it be wrong and my night ruined.
La Siesta still has my vote for the best Mexican food in town!
