Scary experience with this company. Called, thinking I was calling ADT. They set up an initial appointment a month from now which required a credit card number. Then I had to listen to a tape during which I read these Unilocal reviews. Then I asked to cancel the appointment and to have the charge removed. This required a transfer to «customer service«. During my transfer I got a dial tone. Calling back required several holds and phone chains. I did get this cancelled but I did not get a good feeling. All of the 3 customer service reps were polite. None of them were in Massachusetts despite a 617 exchange.

Just had an awful experience with this company & luckily got the system removed today. A few days ago, my husband had an appointment with who he thought was a direct ADT rep. We purchased a home and wanted the existing home system activated. The rep said that the system would not work because of its age and ripped it out and sold my husband a $ 2k system. I call ADT later to understand what this system involved only to find out we were dealing with a 3rd party who NEVER identified themselves. Turns out the old home system is a reliable one and could be reactivated. Thank god we caught this within the 3 day cancellation period and will get a full refund! After researching«protect your home» or «defender direct» whatever they go by now, they have AWFUL reviews online and unethical business practices. Other people were duped the same way we were. They are not even BBB certified. The branch manager came to my house to remove the system and only further infuriated me by trying to get me to keep the system. I had to say several times that I did not trust their company and wanted the system out now. Only until the 4/th or 5th time did the guy actually remove the system. As far as ADT goes… the day of installation of this bad system and realizing what happened an ADT rep came to our house. Guess how much it cost to reactivate the old system but also upgrade — $ 125. Thats all we wanted to do from square one. Thanks to Protect your Home we only got what we wanted after wasting several hours dealing w/their company.

I did not have a good experience with Protect Your Home. On the phone I was told that because of my high credit score, I would be given thousands of dollars of equipment that would make my home as secure as Ft Knox. When the installers arrived, they only installed 6 door/window sensors and one motion detector. I have a 4500 sq foot house. They proceeded to try to upsell me to thousands of dollars of equipment and made it sound like the«free» equipment was not going to be enough to make my home secure. It felt like a bait and switch scheme and I nearly cancelled the entire install on the spot. In addition, the installer did not place the keypad level on my wall, which is something that I’ll have to live with. You’d think they could get that one thing right. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Protect Your Home and it’s soured me on ADT as well.
