Fresh fish, expertly done chips, or tofu avocado wrap with peanut sauce… All delicious and politely served at this small exquisite gem… Truly worth a visit again and again.

We live in the area and have been here several times. I keep getting the same things because they are so tasty. The Baja Fish Tacos, Belgian Fries, and the Falafel Wrap with Avocado are my go-to choices. The portions are quite ample, the prices are reasonable, and the staff are very pleasant. I have never been disappointed.

The food was hit or miss. While the tartar sauce was sensational, the fried fish tasted old. My husband got felafel and it was nice and garlicky. The fries were handmade and malt vinegar was there to sprinkle on them. Many vegan options were available on the menu, with fish being the only meat option. The meal was okay but not memorable. Would I come here again? Yes. Would it be my first choice? No.

I thought it was weird to have a falafel and fish and chips as the staple dishes. Boy was I wrong, this place is off the chain! The fish and chips were perfectly fried and was high quality fish. The falafel was also top notch and actually paired well with the fish.

This place is always closed due to odd operating hours. Happened to walk by with a friend after a year and finally got to dine here! We were both excited until biting into it. To keep it short, very greasy, worst homemade tartar sauce, soggy fries, fish tastes like a fried shoe, curdled milk for the coffee. Worst fried fish everrrrr. Sad times, noodle salad. Good service though !

No frills. Picnic tables. Byo. Great folks. Great food. Clean. Split a giant fish and chips. Enough for 2. It was excellent. Belgian fries. Super crispy. Peanut oil fried. Home made tartar sauce. They also have vegan food and fried chicken. We’ll definitely come back.

I came here one night during the summer after a 8 hour drive, absolutely starving and in search of a good meal. I walked into Elliot Street Fish hoping to find something even though it was 9 pm and most of the town was closed. The man behind the counter told me that he was closing up for the night and had turned off the grille already, when I told him about my long journey in search of food he told me that he had made himself two pieces of fish and chips for his dinner but if I sat down with him he would gladly share. The owner was one of the kindest, most interesting people I have met on my journey across the country and it was easily the best fish and chips I’ve had(and I’m from the Cape). If you find yourself in Brattleboro stop by, meet the owner, and have a delicious piece of fried fish!

While it changed management mid-August 2015, the new management has kept the menu and prices intact, hasn’t changed the ambiance(except now reggae isn’t on constantly), and they finally have printed menus. They are also less ambiguous about their hours of operation, so Chad S. should update his review to reflect that improvement. I’m partial to the fried chicken, the sauces and the fries(though I don’t know if the fries have changed along with management, but gun-to-my-head guess is that they’re the same, maybe not as over-salted as was the custom with the original chef). I found the salads unsatisfying and over-priced.

This place is amazing. it is seriously some of the best food town. The crunchy tofu avocado wrap with spicy peanut sauce is fantastic. My go to. Unfortunately, I’m knocking them two stars because of their infrequent hours. I swing by regularly and are often closed. tonight being the third time in 10 days.

Perfect spot for an easy lunch in town(although it is cash only). The falafel wrap with hot-sauce is awesome as is the spicy fries(with the chipotle dipping sauce). I can’t speak to the rest of the menu as this is all I have tried but i like it so much it is hard to order anything else…

So unassuming yet so delicious. Vegan choices and friendly staff make this a destination, not a place to visit just when it’s convenient.

So fresh and so Delicious! Best place to stop by and pick up or eat, Fish n chips: crunchy light and big chunks of well cooked fillet. I can tell it was fresh. Super flakey and just the perfect layer of a crunchy batter. Cooked very well. You will def say«mmmm…omg, mmm… so good!» Because that’s exactly what I did. Falafel: well mixed crunchy and not as oily, the sauce was nice and light as well(tahini), also the spicy chilly sauce. woah was it a nice kick! Service: the guy that served us was super chill and knows all about the food. Ask him and he will tell you all you need to know. Even though theres a huge menu right at the register that already gives you that info… just saying! Décor: cool vibe, nice picnic style benches, bright with a beach feel over all, and a platform with stool seating at the front window to ppl watch as you munch on… also whimsical from the checkered floor to the white panel 3d looking cieling. All in all great food, I would come here for a nice fish and chips fill or falafel again. This place is definitely a GEM! Got rockstar parking right in front. P.s. Nice selection of Roots Reggae playing as I waited for the freshness.

We were driving through and needed a place to stop for our toddler. This place was perfect!!! A clean restaurant run by a nice couple, there was a chalk board, kids books and a high chair! Fish was fresh and delicious, it had a great crunchy exterior, and the Belgium fries were from real potatoes. Do glad we found this little gem instead of a generic place. Thanks!!!

The rumor is true. I’ve been dying to try this place. I’m picky about fish and chips. This is the best I’ve had in New England. Wild caught haddock. House made tartar. Fresh hand cut fries. Super friendly and welcoming staff. Can’t wait to return!

Oh my word. I’d heard good things about this food and wanted to try it with my friend. Here’s the backstory. I had just woken up from an impromptu nap and really needed a Coke to clear my head. And, since I don’t drink beer when I eat, I thought nothing would go better with my food than a Coke. I wasn’t necessarily in the mood for this fare, but was willing to adjust since it was on my list. My friend and I walked in to an EMPTY room. The boy behind the counter said hello. I said I was looking for a Coke to drink(his beverage selection was limited at best) and he launched into a moralistic lecture. «I[sic] got no problem if you want to bring a Coke in. I just don’t sell it. I don’t believe in it. I won’t sell anything that I wouldn’t put in my body. And I don’t believe in Coke or Pepsi because I wouldn’t put that into my body.» He could have just said, «No, I don’t sell it. Sorry.» Bear in mind that the entirety of his menu is deep-fried. And that is – apparently – perfectly acceptable to put into his temple. I just wanted a soda. I didn’t want a moralistic lecture. So, we left. And had a DELICIOUS dinner at Shin La!

I’m so happy to have falafel back in town and the added fish and chips is a huge bonus. Great fresh food, reasonable price and the location right downtown provides easy access to parking, shops, etc. They don’t take credit cards but will do a local check or of course cash. My only minor complaint was the fixings in the falafel had a bit of lemon rind in it which if intentional was too strong a flavor at times. But that wasn’t enough for me to give it four stars. Great place, check it out!

The mix of fish and chips with falafel and tacos seems eclectic at fish, but everything is cooked up fast and delicious. Having a ginger beer or root beer is a nice beverage addition to a fine meal. If you give him a chance, Dave will talk your ear off about the tartar sauce, how making mayonnaise is a lost art, and that his is made from the eggs of local free range chickens, and lovingly crafted into a delicious condiment. And it is good tartar sauce, well worth the extra charge. The place is new, and feels new. The owners say they are«living the dream» and their enthusiasm is apparent. The food is good enough to match the enthusiasm.
