So far it’s pretty awesome! I happened to be walking in the mall and saw this place. I thought I would check it out and it’s so cute. They have samples and the macadamia not is super yummy. As I was walking out I happened to check in and got an offer for a free cookie. Can’t wait to try it! The girl behind the counter is super nice. Her name is Danielle and her customer service rocks. They have a little sitting area to wait for your cookies and a nice atmosphere to sit back and enjoy.

You’ve got to try their bag of Mac nut chocolate chip cookies! Omg so delicious I also checked it on Unilocal and got their custom hand dipped shortbread. Loved every bit of it I think they are definitely comparable to the Honolulu Hawaiian company cookies!

The staff here is a little stiff. Meaning, they could use some loosening up. Don’t get me wrong, the girl who rang us up did her job, she just didn’t fluff our invisible customer pillows. The cookies still taste the same, they rock. They have 3 stations set up for samples. Saturday’s sampling was Sugar, Kelley’s Delight and Mai Tai. Once again for checking in on Unilocal, got a free custom dipped shortbread. The store was kinda dim, love the interior setup. It’s more dolled up than the Stanton bakery since it’s inside the mall. Ran into it suddenly after coming from the Macy’s Men’s & Furniture store upstairs. Bought my typical Mac Choc Chip and Choc Chip KO(Krispy Oatmeal) pkgs. I remain a fan(after having worked at the Stanton one, moons ago), just think their workers could add a little glee + spunk to their weekend agenda.

I finally got to check out this Kelley’s Kookies(KK) location during my most recent trip to the Brea Mall. The last time I visited the mall was actually last spring, when I saw the«Coming Soon!» sign for the cookie store. I was definitely excited to check it out, as the only other KK location I went to was the one at the Arcadia Westfield Mall. I especially made it a point to visit KK before March ended because my favorite cookie – the«Chocolate Pretzel Peanut Butter” – was being featured as one of the seasonal flavors(apparently, it’s a spring season flavor). I personally think this phenomenal cookie flavor should be in stock all year long! When I went to KK, I was the only customer in the store, save for one other couple who soon left after I arrived. I immediately found my beloved«Chocolate Pretzel Peanut Butter» cookies on the shelf and got two bags. When I checked into the store on Unilocal,I noticed that you could get a free hand-dipped shortbread cookie so I asked to redeem my offer. The pleasant girl working behind the counter told me that it would be about five minutes for the hand-dipped cookie, so I just browsed some of the bakery’s other products while I waited. Up until this point, I didn’t even know KK featured a hand-dip cookie station(I guess I wasn’t paying much attention in the Arcadia store). But I noticed a poster on the wall talking about customized cookies, and the girl behind the counter asked me what type of dip I wanted(milk, dark or white chocolate), as well as which topping I wanted(peanuts, walnuts, almonds, cashews, sprinkles, coconuts, pralines or sea salt). I originally went with a milk chocolate dip and sprinkles, but then I saw one of the shortbread cookies on display was dipped in M&M candies, so I asked to switch my topping. The girl had already started on my customized shortbread cookie, but she willingly made me another one with the M&Ms. When the cookies were done, she ended up giving me both in a sealed package(thanks KK for great customer service) and I apologized for the inconvenience. I didn’t eat my shortbread cookie until later, but once I tried it, it was really good! The sealed plastic packaging kept the cookies fresher. Though shortbread usually isn’t my favorite type of cookie – I’ve had some pretty dry shortbread cookies in my life – the ones at KK are an exception, as they’re moist, buttery and not dry at all! I love the delicious taste and texture, and I like how only half of the cookie is dipped in the chocolate so you can still experience the shortbread taste. The milk chocolate coating was luscious and the M&Ms(and the sprinkles) added some welcomed crunch to my cookie. Tip: DEFINITELY check into this place on Unilocal to get your free hand-dipped cookie! Great idea by KK to get more customers to sample those hand-dipped shortbreads … Speaking of samples, KK provides samples of some of the different cookies being featured, making every trip to the store more enjoyable. I usually get a sample of one of the macadamia nut varieties being offered. Here’s my run-down of this trip to KK … and you can rest assured that I’ll be back if I’m ever at the Brea Mall again: «Chocolate Pretzel Peanut Butter»: This is my favorite cookie from this bake shop. It features a peanut butter and pretzel cookie that’s dipped in milk chocolate. Each pack contains six cookies and this flavor is ONLY featured in the spring. I love the peanut butter taste from the cookie, as well as the slightly salty flavor and crunchy texture from the pretzels. Of course, the cookie wouldn’t be complete without that silky smooth milk chocolate coating on top. I like how this cookie is only half dipped in the milk chocolate so you can adequately taste that peanut butter flavor, as well as that slightly salty taste from the pretzels. «Hand-Dipped Shortbread»: The shortbread cookies from KK are sure to please even the most ardent shortbread cookie-hater. These rich and buttery shortbread cookies aren’t dry at all, and they taste especially delicious when coated with milk chocolate. If you want a lighter taste, you can go with the dark chocolate coating. I loved the candies and sprinkles on my shortbread cookies, but there are tons of other topping options to choose from if you take advantage of the hand-dipped shortbread cookie freebie upon checking in on Unilocal. «Chocolate Chip Krispy Oatmeal»: I prefer oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips in them if I’m going to have oatmeal at all, so though this cookie is supposed to be even crunchier than the other versions at KK, I’m willing to try it one day. It’s made with oatmeal, rice cereal and premium chocolate chips. I would prefer a soft and chewy oatmeal cookie, but because this cookie is plain – which I actually like, when it comes to oatmeal cookies – I’m down to give it a try.

Cookie Monster ain’t got nothing on Kelley’s Kookies. The only reason I walked into this place was to get my Free customized shortbread cookie with my Unilocal check in. Does this make me shameless? It’s cool because it sure does taste better when it’s free. Here’s how the customized cookie order works: CHOOSESIZE 3 cookies for $ 5 5 cookies for $ 8 8 cookies for $ 12 CHOOSEDIP Milk Chocolate Dark Chocolate White Chocolate CHOOSETOPPING Peanuts Walnuts Almonds Pecans Cashews Coconuts Sprinkles Sea Salt Why must some decisions in life have to be so difficult? After overwhelming my thoughts with every dip and flavor topping scenario, I chose to order a White Chocolate with Walnuts, because you can’t go wrong with White Chocolate. While they were making my cookie in the back, I walked around the tiny store. They have several prepackaged cookies with all different flavors and topping. Most bags were priced at $ 5.75 for 6 cookies. After 5 minutes of waiting, my special cookie was finally ready. I took my first bite and it was so delicious! Delicious
