cold chicken burrito — the first time it was wrong everyone in party was disappointed with their food. wont be back.

Chips were stale and gave me the bottom of the barrel as they were mostly broken into little pieces. Floor and bottom of cabinets was dirty in and around drink station.

Rubios does distinguish itself from the other mexican places by it’s menu. The feature item is fish. Nice to get a break from the bazillion mexican places that have the exact same beans rice and… not bad, I’d eat here again

My husband and I eat here numerous times a month. The food is great and the staff is always friendly. In the years we’ve eaten here, we’ve only had one problem with the service. I phoned in an order and when I came to pay and pick it up it was forgotten about. The manager, Devyn (I believe this is his name) was fabulous. He was very apologetic and added freebies in addition to refunding our money. I truly felt like a valued customer. He made our night and he is one of the reasons why we continue dining at this location. Thank you, manager D!

First things first, fuck this place. I’ve eaten here in the past but today was completely unacceptable.
I take lunch at 12 and I know how busy this location gets, so I purposely called in my order to prevent waiting in line. Had my über driver take me immediately after I ordered. I got there 5 minutes before they told me it would be ready. The line was already out the door, but I figured since I called in I would just pay and gtfo. I skip the line and am standing off to the side of it, trying to get someones attention. All 5 workers see me standing there but no one bothers to ask me what I need help with. I see my food just sitting there. 5 minutes later, the cashier FINALLY looks over at me and asks me what I need, I proceeded to tell her I just wanted to pay for my food that was sitting right in front of me so I could leave. She says ”Ok I’ll be with you in just a second” and continues to take orders from the next 3 people in line. Finally, some other girl comes back from her break (5 minutes later) and asks me again what I need. I tell her I’ve been waiting to pay for my food so I can leave. She looks at the cashier, the cashier rolls her eyes and tells her to task the manager (I’m like wtf at this point). The girl turns around, talks to some lady and turns back to me and tells me I have to wait in line. The line has doubled by this time. Even after I told her I called in 20 minutes ago and the cashier said she would help me almost 10 minutes ago, she just rolls her eyes and says ”sorry that’s what the manager says”.
I walked out of there completely furious. Not only because I was hungry and wasting my lunch time, I was PAYING for my über driver to wait for me and only for me to come out with no food. I proceeded to get dropped off at Fresca’s on Birch.
Again, fuck this place and their shitty attitudes.

Thought we’d try this Rubio’s, since we hadn’t been to this one in some time.
Plenty of convenient parking here, and our order taker was charming, friendly, and extremely courteous («Thank you; it’s my pleasure to serve you,» as opposed to the, «Thanks, you guys!» overfamiliarity we get at the T.G.I.F.‘s next door). So, excellent first impression.
The restaurant was clean and well stocked. Employees were doing their jobs very well.
I ordered the new OAXACA SHRIMP TACOS. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My two tacos looked attractive, and, although I’ve had great food at other Rubio’s in the past, it seemed that my whole meal was just bland, both my tacos and my beans. My wife said the same about her steak. We suspected this may be intentional, so guests can customize their meals to taste using the flavors at the very clean, orderly, and well stocked salsa bar. The red sauces I could find seemed to be either smoky or chipotle tasting, and I just wanted the usual pico de gallo tasting mixture that other places tend to have. So my meal wound up pretty bland.
My favorite Mexican sit down places race out to you right away with a nice bowl of crispy warm chips and fresh cold salsa. This is not that kind of place, so don’t be shocked if you get a small handful of broken chips that aren’t warm. My wife’s were more intact, but mine were pretty broken up; the bottom of the bag, I guess.
My lite lemonade was surprisingly really good, with none of the weird powdery taste I’ve occasionally had elsewhere.
So our impression was, the employees were doing a GREAT job, but the corporate menu is so bland, theres no point at all for us to go in here again. I would not recommend it to anyone when there are still places like Pepe’s, Fresca’s, Cabo Grill, and even El Torito close by whose food is so much better.

Normally the taste of Rubio’s is always the same. I rely on all locations having the same taste. This location was the worst Rubios I’ve ever been to. The customer service was okay, but the food was bland and tasteless. I will not be coming back to this location again. It was a let down.

Not happy with their California bowl. Usually the tacos are delicious but this bowl was missing the lettuce and only had 5 little pieces of chicken. Oh, and the rice was hard so I didn’t eat it. I’m sticking to tacos only.

I very much like the food here. Tonight I had the new OAXACAN shrimp burrito plate. Very tasty. The only reservation I’ve ever had at Rubio’s is the price to portion ratio. It’s seafood, so I guess I shouldn’t expect a lot for my money. But I always leave here still hungry.

I am a regular here… I just love the grilled tilapia tacos… always always! fresh and delicious.
Salsa verde is awesome… and the staff here is always so nice.

California bowl with blackened tilapia was awesome !! Fish was really very fresh… Loved it over California Fish Grill’s tilapia plate. Very flavorful.

I tend to go to the Rubio’s near my work for Fish Taco Tuesdays but since I had to run an errand at the mall after work, I had found this Rubio’s through Unilocal.Usually the Rubio’s near my work asks if you want flour or corn tortillas but even the workers recommend the flour tortillas over the corn because they aren’t the same as the authentic homemade ones.
This location, the manager (I am only assuming because of his different colored shirt) took my order and never asked if I wanted flour or corn tortillas and decidedly put in the order without any confirmation from me. I was not able to ask him since he picked up the ringing restaurant phone and I had thought that it would just automatically come with flour tortillas. I know it’s my fault as well.
The condiments bar was fully stocked and clean. And each of my fish tacos were individually wrapped. The service was fast and I received my tacos within 10 minutes after my order was placed. The plaza parking lot near Rubio’s was quite empty, so lots of parking around.
Since Rubio’s is a chain, there isn’t much that would differ from one to the next, mostly only service is what would differ.

Placed a phone order here and the cashier said the food would be ready in 15 mins.
I went to bevmo to pick up some beer for the big fight. Went to Rubios expecting the food to be ready but it was not. No problem probably got there too early.
So, 10mins pass and I’m wondering why my order wasn’t ready as it was 30mins since I ordered.
The manager said the chips weren’t ready. She was very unapologetic in the delay. So as she was getting the chips… she and the workers committed a cardinal sin in food prep… she touched the chips with her bare hands.
I didn’t say anything at the time because I was in a hurry cause rubios stole 15mins of my life that I can never get back.
Those 15mins could’ve gone to my children or with my wife.
Not only that my burrito was soggy like cereal left in milk for 15mins.
Avoid rubios and go to chipotle… they got their act together.

One of my favorite things about Rubios is the dedication to sustainable fishing and love of seafood. We have the re-​useable «friend of the ocean» tumblers. The initial investment was totally worth it, as long as you remember to bring them from home, because the drinks are FREE when using the tumblers!

They have this new mahi mahi California bowl for 7.69 pretty decent.
I think rubios quality of food is actually decent for the price. Close to California fish grill

— zero booths. The closest thing they have is a half booth in the back, that is always occupied.
— no stalls in the men’s restroom so you have to wait, one at a time
The Ugly
— the back area needs ventilation. Bakes in the sun.

Brea Rubio’s you are on point! Not only was the cashier, Carisa, incredibly friendly, but the food is amazing. I work at Chipotle and her service is definitely leading by example. Great to see that there are still places that not only care about the quality of their food but the quality of the customer service. Hope every employee there is just as enthusiastic as her.
Also the food is great. I had the Fish Taco Especial, and man these are the best fish tacos I’ve ever had at a Rubio’s. You can tell the quality is there. Super clean salsa bar and dining room too. Great job Rubio’s!

Rubio’ s is always a great choice for me! I’m never disappointed, always satisfied, and leave full, but not bloated.
The servers are friendly and provide great service.
