This place was awesome! I came here last week(mid February) while walking on Main St. souvenir shopping with my hubby and dog. We were in Breckenridge vacationing from Dallas. Unilocal sent us here and so glad it did! We got the daddy’s girl burger(add bacon), Angus steak sandwich, and fries. Both of the mains were super messy but oh my god, they were so so good! The man working the food truck was really nice and gave a bottle of water to our dog. Get the daddy’s girl with bacon, it’ll change your life

Stella’s Hungry Horse is literally a tiny little stand-alone food stand on the side of a parking lot. We heard awesome things about this place, so we stopped by to check it out. There are a couple of benches outside(exposed to the elements, whatever the elements may be) where you can eat if you’d like. Sweet potato tots — 3 stars. Could be crispier. Greek fries — 4 stars. Good flavor; wish the fries were crispier. El Completo hot dog — 3 stars.

Wow! After a lackluster burger showing earlier in our road trip, this made it all right. Did I mention, she doesn’t just do burgers, but wild game burgers, and dogs! Super affordable and they are huge, cooked to order, and mind blowingly delicious. I had the Bison burger done Grasshopper style, which is like a jalapeño popper on a burger, sans breading. Boyfriend had an elk burger done capitola — avocado, bacon, kale, monteray jack. Fries are not made in house, but are still fries, in this instance they were my least favorite thing we had– who cares! Other burger choices are steak burger, bison, elk, antelope, boar, and three bean for the vegetarians. Dogs are beef, green chile bison. They also have sandwiches and flatbreads, all in a little inconspicuous food trailer, easy to drive by, do yourself and favor and turn around and get your burger on.

Homemade style and very tasty real food. Everyone in our family ate every single crumb. Wished we’d discovered it sooner on our trip. Stella’s is reason enough to visit Breckenridge again! Huge thanks to the owner — Tara.

If your in Breckenridge — get a Stella burger! They are super tasty! And I definitely recommend getting the fries they are thicker than French fries which I personally like and the salty spice mix they sprinkle over the top is soo good. We both got the original buckin bacon burger, tender meat delicious bacon and the burger bun was really soft and fluffy. The Harissa sauce is a little hot which added great flavour. My husband got the sweet potato tots, I wasn’t really a fan to me they tasted super sweet but my husband loved them. The ladies running it were super friendly and helpful and the food came out real quick too! Would 100% recommend! Don’t be fooled by the small little building that is perched on the side of the road… they certainly know how to make a great burger!

Definitely stop at Stella’s if you’re in Breck! The burgers are amazing, seriously one of the best I’ve had in a very long time. The sweet potato tots were good, especially with the curry ketchup. Not sure how there wasn’t a line. Oh, and the IPA caramelized onions on the burger were freaking awesome!

When in doubt, go to Unilocal! First time at Breckenridge and looking for some reasonable price dining option, so glad we found Stella Hungry Horse on Unilocal. It’s a food stand with some picnic tables outside, heat lamp operating when it’s cold. It’s right below the ski area, so you see lots of skiers and snowboarders refueling here. Creative menu with different flavor combos of grilled flatbread wrap, burger, sandwich, sausage/franks, breakfast sandwiches. It’s an eclectic Colorado cuisine with quality ingredients of grass-fed meat, and everything made to order. For burgers, first choose your protein: steak, bison, 3 beans, or wild game(blend of antelope, bison, elk, wild boar, and venison). Then pick a fixing that catches your attention and appeal your palates. I tried Sweet Caroline which was creamy goat cheese, wild arugula, red onion, tomato, and sweet onion sauce on rye bun. The burger was so tall, and just like the Carl’s Jr commercial, delicious sauce drips with every bite, and you just can’t get enough of it even when your hands are a mess~ Good flavors and wallet friendly! One suggestion I’d make is to caramelize the sweet onions instead of serving it raw.

Three of us visited Stella’s for lunch. We had a Messy Deb and Cracker Barrel. The Messy was Amazing. The blue cheese was soft and creamy and complemented the meat and bacon well. The Cracker Barrel was was really good and my mom loved the pimento cheese. Her bacon wasn’t crispy, so be sure to ask for crispy if you like it that way. Both buns were egg rolls that were soft and unique. Importantly, the buns were delicious and held up to the mess. We also had the duck drumsticks. They had a perfect extra crispy skin and were tender and delicious instead. They were served with a delicious Asian dipping sauce and were quite filling. Stella’s is a roadside stand with picnic tables, but still manages great friendly service. They have water, gatorades and lemonade in ice buckets out front. It’s local, the owner is cooking the food and the quality is impressive.
