My family and I used to LOVE it here, we would recommend it to anyone that was craving sushi and we used to go 3 – 4 times a month. After the renovations were done they seemed to go downhill fast. Prices went up, a different person is making the sushi, portions got smaller and they no longer offer a military discount. Our favorite items are no longer on the menu either.

The food here is five star. The service for pickup is horrible. Constantly under staffed for the volume of customers. Sometimes the phone just never gets answered. If you’re going to create a following, make sure you have phone lines and enough staff to accommodate. In fact, we have this thing called internet now and it would probably be more efficient to enable online ordering. Keep up the good food but get into the 21st century.

I’ve always went here and never had a problem, great food, until one weekend, I noticed new employees at this place. I ordered a chicken teriyaki and when I went to eat it, I noticed the chicken was raw. Called them back and they seemed like it wasn’t a real problem. I was only given a new order, which was expected, but at the same time, raw chicken, come on!

so over the past five months Happy teriyaki is under new ownership. Mr. mormoto and his wife sold the business. The food has definitely gone down in quality. the spicy chicken is way to sweet, however the basic chicken teriyaki is really good specially if you upgrade to fried rice; however it ends up being 13.00 which is more then the beef and chicken combo with fried rice which i find ridiculous. Their sushi has gone down in quality and what really upsets me is how many times i have gone in and things been out and no sign informing of the item being sold out. they stopped doing the chicken yakisoba combo. I miss the old owners and i hope the new ones get their stuff together because its just not as good at all and you can definitely see the customer base reducing due to it being amazing before change of ownership

Just watched the guy in the kitchen wash his hands that still had gloves on with a towel than continue to handle food… won’t be back. oh than I sat down to eat and they totally messed up our order seriously and the teriyaki tastes watered down.

Giving this place 5 stars solely on the atmosphere and décor. You won’t believe the menu screens. It’s the most immaculate teryaki joint I’ve ever been to. The food is good too.

This used to be good quality food. Lousy service now frozen meat. 3 entrees 3 different times to the table. Incomplete and slow orders. Won’t be back.

I wanted to love this place… We’ve ordered for pick up from them 3 times and every time our order was messed up. The bento boxes were good. Wasn’t a fan of the sushi.

Had a yearning for tempura vegetables and stopped here. Very friendly staff and the dishes(orange chicken, mongolian beef, tempura veggies and shrimp, and yakisoba) were very fresh.

I work nearby and we occasionally get together and walk to Happy Teriyaki. It’s a mainstay in the area and the food is consistent. I love to get my sushi fix here, no complaints. I like that I see the same employees almost every visit, makes it feel a little more personable.

Really 2.5 stars. I did lots of research for sushi in the area. I would have preferred trappers or Jo: a, but my husband wanted to try a new place and Happy Teriyaki has the next best reviews. That and he also wanted Chinese with his sushi. So whatever. I was just going to give 2 stars, but the teriyaki chicken was decent, and we ordered take out, so I’m hoping that maybe it kind of sucked because it was a good half an hour before we were able to eat it from when it was made. Idk. But I’ve had better store bought sushi. The tempura shrimp wasn’t just cool from the drive home, it was straight up cold. I don’t know if it was ever hot. But none of the rolls were good. They all tasted the same. Too much cucumber, not enough flavor. One of them tasted like a pumpkin smells. I know, it doesn’t even make sense. I’m not sure how this place has such good reviews.

Apparently there is new ownership and honestly My wife and I aren’t fans of the changes. The new menu board is nice and easier to read but the service and the food definitely lost a star in our book. My wife’s miso soup kept separating and tasted like warm milk. Her salmon roll was tiny, my salad had no dressing on it and the katsu chicken was dry and meh. I realize that it takes time to get in the swing of things for new owners and I hope that Happy bounces back as it used to be a great place to eat.

Delicious! Some of the best Chinese and Japanese food I’ve ever had. I like that you can get both styles of food at one place. They’re very prompt with take-out orders, too, which are usually ready in 10 – 15 minutes. 4⁄5 stars because the parking situation is horrendous during busier hours; the location is on the corner of two busy streets, with a small parking lot that has entrances/exits on both sides and pillars right across the middle. People park all over the place, and cars quickly cut through to bypass waiting at the stop light for a right turn. I’m always a bit scared I’ll get hit!

We have always been pretty happy with this restaurant. The food is good, prices fair, and ambiance is just fine. They always get our order right and they are nice to our toddler. I wish they still delivered and I would like the restaurant more if they had table service instead of a seat-yourself thing.

Happy Family Teriyaki… oh how the memories come flooding back when I think of this place. It was about 3 and a half years ago, the hubby was stationed in Bremerton and I had just moved here from CA to be with him. It was a very hectic time. We didn’t have a car yet when I arrived and being new to the area, I didn’t know where to go grocery shopping or where to go to eat. Of course, being as busy as he was(and also a guy), we didn’t have food in the fridge for me. So the very first day I was there, I had nothing to eat. Thank goodness for Unilocal!I looked up a place that seemed decent and wasn’t a far walk from where I was living and it lead me to this place. Though it’s small and it looked a little shady from the outside and being in the area it’s in, I ventured in there and got an amazing lunch that day. I got the chicken teriyaki with CA rolls. It came with a salad. Everything I had was yummy. The staff was super nice and the prices were cheap. This was literally the first thing I ate when I moved to WA and it left a good memory. I went back a couple times in the last couple years. It’s not spectacular compared to some other places but it has good food and good prices and you can’t go wrong with that.

The salad was great(actually nothing special) but when a restaurant rinses the lettuce first it shows they care about putting out a good product. The Spicy Pork Bulgogi was just right! The pork was tender and tasty. The spice level was not to hot but hot enough to let you know it was spiced. The only thing keeping me from giving them a 4Star was the rice was slightly undercooked. Can’t wait to go back for some Sushi.

Friendly service, good prices, and better than average food. The girl at the front was very helpful in explaining the menu options. They also let you have free spicy egg drop soup. The sushi is solid, spicy Tina roll was better than good.

I tried Happy Family Teriyaki for dinner this time. It still looked to be a very busy place: lot’s of to-go orders being called in… lots of people coming and going, chopping noises coming from the kitchen, etc. The food is good, that’s why its busy. Is it authentic? No. But you can only expect so much when one kitchen is serving Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. Sushi is okay. They have a skilled sushi chef, so its definitely good eats, but not a great value unless you’re getting a california roll as part of a combo. The best thing to get here are the combos or bento boxes. They look great and are definitely the best value. Sushi is a good choice if you’re willing to shell out a decent amount of cash for it, but don’t come here for cheap sushi… it isn’t here. I really had a hankering for some soup so I ordered«Wonton» soup. NOTWONTONSOUP! It was egg drop soup with some gyoza floating in it. Was it okay? Yes. Did I eat it? Yes, I really wanted some soup. Will I ever order soup here again? No…
