I’ve been to many, many of Bremerton’s art walks and I have yet to have anything other than a wonderful time. This is as good as Bremerton gets and I urge everyone-whether you’re really into art or not– to attend at least one. You’re guaranteed a great time and the cost(admission is free) is only as much as you want to spend on refreshments, bringing your own is certainly not frowned upon, or whatever else you decide to purchase. I’ve never even had to pay for parking, although getting there early is really helpful, especially when the weather is nice. The Bremerton Art Walk makes for a wonderful first date, or a 50th date, you can spend time strolling the art district, there are several little bars & restaurants within a very easy walking distance, and lots of outdoor spaces to sit and rest and enjoy a cold drink or a cup of coffee. Kids are also welcome, especially earlier in the evening, and there are often(but not always) a couple of attractions specifically geared toward children. The artists and the crowd span a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and cultures, so there is something for everyone even if you’re more into mingling and meeting people than you are into art. If you live in or around Bremerton, check it out when you have the chance or when you’re looking for something interesting yet budget-friendly to do on a Friday night.

I love First Fridays, ’cause that is when my community comes together to celebrate. I think most of us are celebrating well. .. just the opportunity to get out and enjoy each other! The galleries are full of laughter, wine, snacks and, of course, many types of art. In addition to different techniques in paintings and sketches, there are artists who work with mixed media, sculptures, metal work, photography, and _____________[fill in the blank – it’s probably there]. If you only go to one, be sure to go to the December walk. Everyone’s out holiday shopping and festive music is playing outside. Santa comes through, vendors are selling kettle corn and snacks, and the High School band plays. Last year, I stopped at Cornerstone Coffee to get a latte, and Brandy got hot chocolate. I entered a raffle at Collective Visions for a Hundertwassen print, and I won! If you’re not really into art, but you like shopping, all of the businesses are open late on first Friday. You guys already know how I feel about Tammy Sioux’s and Simply Renewed, but I haven’t told you how special Ish is! And, on Art Walk nights, Ish is totally hopping! Ish’s owner is super friendly and the place is PACKED. You get to try on vintage clothing and get your picture taken, sip wine, and chat. The Walk lasts from 5 – 8. After you’re done browsing and shopping, you can walk to a number of fine eating establishments and continue to celebrate! My first choice would be New Dehli [ the food is amazing and the owners, who are always there cooking and serving are very friendly], but if Indian food is not your thing there’s Toro Lounge, Bremerton Bar and Grill, El Corral [Mexican] and Anthony’s. I love my Bremerton :)
